Chicago at Oakland: Who impacts the game most?

Of the following, who do you think will most impact - either positively or negatively - the game Sunday:

Known as Death Ro when he's playing well and as Renaldo when he's not.  Rolando McClain - the 2nd year Raider MLB and on field director often seems lost and in need of direction himself.

Matt Forte' the dynamic all purpose RB, now the league's #3 in rushing yards, averages 5 yards/carry. The Raiders lead the league in giving up plays of greater than 10 yards and are the 25th rated Defense vs. the Rush.

Michael Bush, the Raiders insurance policy, ace-in-the-hole, go-to-guy, human locomotive with soft hands and motor that will not quit until the last referee blows his whistle and drops dead.

Oakland's HC and DC. Last week these two jokers decided to guard a 24-7 halftime lead. They strategized  to outlast the Viks in a game of attrition, went into an insane and premature prevent defense and, for the first time in history, a prevent offense. This gross mismanagement evaporated our lead and the Raiders would be 5-5 now if not for the individual efforts of Huff, Kelly, Giordano and other Raider renegades who just said, "No" to the madness.

We can put pressure on their new QB

and hope for some mistakes and turnovers and such. But with so many injures on our team, the question remains whether we can put up points on their defense. Now with DHB, Ford, and Moore all not practicing it will be very important for us to rely on the rushing game.

Intangibles 28, Everything Else 0

1. Penalties. Hate some of the calls, but that doesn’t mean we don’t screw ourselves with stupid mistakes regularly.

2. Second half coffee break. The let up on both sides of the ball until with 4 minutes left in the game until they notice the other team is driving for the tying or winning score, while our guys are already planning the after party.

3. Collapse of the IQ. “I knew what my gap was in the first half, but now I haven’t a clue.” Really, guys?

The Yahoo Raiders site reports that we signed (re-signed) Hagen today

Glad he was still available—he knows the playbook and the coaches and players already

As far as I can tell

The Bills signed Hagan to their 53 man roster yesterday.

Chiefs | Kyle Orton claimed
Wed, 23 Nov 2011 13:13:12 -0800

The Kansas City Chiefs have claimed free-agent QB Kyle Orton (Broncos) off waivers.

FANTASY TIP: Orton should be considered a solid QB2 now that he’s starting once again. KC’s offense has struggled to put up points for much of the year, and Orton will likely require a period of adjustment to a new scheme, similar to what Carson Palmer went through early with the Raiders. Still, Orton can help your QB depth, especially if you owned Matt Schaub (foot) or Jay Cutler (thumb). There is renewed optimism for Jonathan Baldwin’s value as a deep threat; he’s worth a roster spot again and could be a nice depth piece as you enter the fantasy playoffs.

Week #13 Dec 04 KC @ CHI...Perhaps Influenced "KC" To Take Orton Away From da Bears???

Than this Week #17 Jan 01 KC @ DEN will prolley Bitch Slap that “Donkey” for being so damn stupid!!

What was funny is one NFL.com writer throwing in the “Conspiracy” Tag on this deal suggesting that Elway guaranteed a short non-play off season and subsequent failure of Tebow with this move…LoL!!!…I Find this hilarious!!!

This looks terrible for Denver
As if the Broncos didn’t have enough twisted drama for one season, they’ve somehow found a way to create more. The decision by the Chiefs to claim Kyle Orton makes perfect sense for them — and it’s for that reason that Denver could have easily predicted this scenario. You know, the one that will include Orton heading to Denver in Week 17 to play for what easily could be a playoff spot.

John Elway has done little to disguise his suspicion about Tim Tebow’s potential, and while I’m not suggesting this is some conspiracy to lessen Denver’s chances at the playoffs, I can’t imagine a team with confidence in its postseason aspirations making a similar move. If Orton manages to ignite the Chiefs to a late-season run (it isn’t likely, but it IS possible), the Broncos better use the money they saved on him to provide the necessary spark to defeat the Chiefs in that final game. Otherwise? This is going to look terrible.

da Bears' "D" Is Very Similar To Ours Stats Wise...Little Stronger To The Run Little Weaker To The Pass..

The big change in this match-up is in their passing game now with the loss of their “QB”…It was an even match to our own but now anyone’s guess…Their rush has been much less but will now be their focal point and ours to stop…I like what I’m seeing here…

Bush will run and run very well because da Bears will fear “CP3”….?? “WR”??……Well the "TE"s and "RB"s will pick up the slack…

Maybe some cool 3 TE sets

with Boss, Myers and Ausberry
I tell ya, I’ve become a huge Myers fan suddenly after that last game!
What a freaking brilliant catch he made, and his HIT on the KO forcing the TO
was truly epic.
The dude is bringing it and it’s no wonder Boss isn’t seeing quite as much time as we all hoped early on.

Following the threads at WindyCity, they are most concerned with our TEs - that's where they've been badly damaged this season

Boss, Myers and Gordon (if Gordon plays) are rife for a good game. Myers play last week was great (STs as well) and Boss was there often. Palmer just needs the time to strike and my only concern is the OL fading in the 2nd Half.

If the Bears can’t cover TEs then they will probably also struggle with covering a guy like Reece. He may be the secret weapon this game to keeping the Bears from stacking the box too often.

Matters if we win or lose

if we lose it will be because forte destroyed us. If we win it will be because Death Ro showed up.

of course there is more to it than that but i think that stopping forte and forcing their backup QB to pass Will get us a Win

by SmashmouthFB on Nov 23, 2011 3:20 PM PST reply actions

if forte is all they got

I call that one dimensional, and we should be able to defend against it much like we controlled Arian Foster in HOU. while I am fairly sure this d can contol forte, I am more worried about this guy Hanie, who according to urlacher himself “shreds the 1st team defense every week in practice” hanie is no Boller, in fact he’s got a skill set similar to ponder but with 3 years in the league under his belt. He’s also played in an NFC Championship game, and if not for a weird late INT, almost came back to beat the eventual SB Champs in GB. He knows there system and will have a solid week of practice with the first team, not to mention Martz calling the shots. Martz will probably be the key, their offense is simple but effective, they/ve never been pass happy, but they dont really have to be to win games. If martz dials up the right calls and upchuck bresh continues to eat the vanilla ice cream on d, we very well may lose another game at home. I am extremely nervous about this game and we may end up leaving this one dazed and confused.I hope these men are taking the bears seriously, and all this talk about the “stars alligning” and its “meant to be” is the kind of shit that leads to us looking pass an opponent (like the denver embarrassment)

More on Hanie
"I don’t think anyone feels Caleb Hanie can’t be Kyle Orton in terms of being functional," said one veteran NFL scout I reached out to late Sunday night. "Hanie did some things in the NFC Championship Game. Now, he didn’t play well in preseason. I felt watching him in preseason he looked rattled, maybe rattled by the lack of confidence that Mike Martz had in him. That’s what is really going to play out here. Mike Martz’s confidence in him had a major effect on Hanie because he never looked bad in preseason before. He always performed well when he had an opportunity."

Remember, Hanie performed poorly in the first preseason game against Buffalo. He completed 3 of 7 passes for 32 yards and was sacked four times and the Bears got back to training camp in Bourbonnais, Ill., rookie Nathan Enderle ran the second team offense for a day. The Bears downplayed it, Martz eventually professed an affinity for Hanie but the backup was peeved and understandably so. Overall, Hanie’s preseason numbers weren’t hot. He completed 36 of 63 passes (57.1 percent) for 388 yards (6.2 yards per attempt) with one touchdown and two interceptions.
Can Hanie do it?

"That’s just it," the scout said. "I don’t think there is enough evidence yet to say if he can or can’t do it. One thing about quarterbacks, you have to see them play with live bullets. The preseason, it didn’t look good, he took a step back. His mechanics were bad, he had a meltdown. He hasn’t had a lot of practice time. He’s got a tough job. But preseason is preseason. In my mind, I want to think he is capable of doing what he did in the fourth quarter of that NFC Championship Game."

That is true. Starting quarterbacks in the NFL – not just at Halas Hall – get nearly all of the work in practice. There aren’t enough reps to distribute the workload and still get the starter properly ready for the game each week. So, backup quarterbacks rely on chances they get running the scout team and mental reps. Watch Cutler’s progressions through a play and make decisions in your own head as it unfolds. That’s a mental rep. Live reps – a whole slew of them – begin for Hanie on Wednesday.

This Is No Doubt Why He Speaks...Looking For The Reaction So He Can Pile On???

It’s a can’t win situation…Let it go and allow some sick ass bastard to paint a public picture of anything he wants…Step in and right into his childish pursuits of public displays of ignorance…

What’s a better solution???…I like what this poster did:

For the record, walking out of the dome in MN last week I walked past the press box which was right
behind our seat section. I saw Steve Corcoran and told that I thought he and Jerry Mac do the
best job covering the Raiders.
I then saw Kawakami sitting next him and added,"unlike this clown.
Kawasaki did not even look my way Corcoran laughed and Amy Trask was standing behind the both of them and gave me a smiling two thumbs up.
I thought she would have been in the owners box but maybe she is an operative there.

So perhaps make it a point to send some luv towards the others in the box while snuffing your nose at the “Clown”???

Hating on Kawakami is unjustified. The Raiders need reporting that's raw, without sugar coating.

On the other hand, those who blindly and willingly ignore the team’s and org’s shortcomings would disagree, i.e. the Black Hole ilk. Btw, if you spend a season in the Black Hole, you would either become its King or would become more like Kawakami, i.e. objective.

“CessPool” is the one I’m consistently down on and he earns it!!!…

I don’t mind being honest at all and in fact I prefer it…I always take the positive approach so a little negativity mixed in doesn’t hurt anything…The issue with me is doing it with some measure of respect for Mr Davis and his organization as they have earned and deserve!!!…Those who can’t show that are worthless bastards NOT worth reading!!…This is where I take issue with the likes of that Sapp and “CessPool” and many other such ignorant bastards that become "Mediot"s…To the extent that they hate on my team I will hate on them…

“J-Mac” can be very negative at times but I have yet to see him disrespect Al Davis or the Raiders….I don’t like how he reads into things sometimes but than we all do…Corkran is a mixed review…He seems kool at the moment…But “CessPool” can’t post about anything positive without including some digs pointed at Al Davis and his Raiders…

One thing to think about for the Bears's game is the Raider D has had problems

with mobile quarterbacks. In every play on the Caleb Hanie highlight video he was running around making plays, he is not a pocket passer. Hopefully in practice our D can prepare for this.

by Oceanside Raider on Nov 23, 2011 5:34 PM PST reply actions

2 of last 3 games had very mobile QBs and we were torched badly (Tebow and Ponder). If Woody hasn't yet figured out that

our DE’s and OLBs need to contain or, at least, designate a QB spy, then he’s beyond hope.

Forte is the key

This game will be very tough. Our offensive is hobbled at this point. It is not safe to assume we can play at a high level with the coaching staff not adjusting at halftime, the penalties mounting, and with so many damn injuries to our WR’s. The Raiders may go out there with only Murphy, Chaz, and whoever they can grab at this point. The D is suspect as it has been all year. Hanie isn’t a bum off the street, he knows their system and is more than a serviceable back up. IF by some miracle the Raiders can stop Forte, the backbone of their offense, than I think Sheppard, Routt, and DVD match up well with their receivers to shut them down. I have no idea how the Raiders will score any points with a hurt Jano, half the WR squad hurt, a hurt DMC, and a RB who has over 90 carries the last 3 games. I can only hope that Palmer, Boss, and Reece step up to save the day. I really, really hate injuries. This year has seemed brutal because the team is actually winning. Uggghhh, go Raiders.

by lakers007raiders on Nov 23, 2011 5:49 PM PST reply actions

Big day for Boss and Myers - book it. Murph may dodge a bullet as he was perched on the bubble but more likely he'll

negatively alter that “fewest dropped passes” stat that RTR posted. At halftime, our OL needs Rockstars and Monsters instead of Nyquil and Gatoraide. And staying with the 1st Quarter game plan throughout beats the hell out of ridiculous adjustments.

This game will be, yet again, dependent on the O-line

Especially on the left side, with Lil’ Wiz/Veldheer playing at a Upshaw/Shell level. If the O-line can’t stop Peppers and Co., and don’t give Carson enough time to find 2nd string WR’s, we won’t win. The run game will not be enough, as deceiving as the Bears run D numbers may be, unless our O-line constantly opens up some massive holes for B-Train. If Carson has protection, and not just in the first half this time, we should be able to overcome what Forte will do to our D.

I see it a bit different. Last game I watched, Urlacher did a lot of standing around looking confused. It appears to me that the short crossing pattern could be a real boon for Mr. Palmer.

 Bears are down a QB.

And the Raiders D is performing decent against the run now.

This Explains What I Thought I Saw When Moore Got Up Slowly...But He Did Come Back In...
He left the game at one point but returned and wasn’t mentioned by Jackson afterward when discussing the injured players.

Looks to be “Glass Chaz/Murphy?”TJH" as the healthy bodies…But “CP3” did say this:

"We’re playing against a good group, like I said, and we’re not going to have all our guys. But we’ve got that that have been waiting for their opportunity and looking for a chance to step up and help this team. And guys are going to have to do that this week."

Did he let the cat out of the bag….Ausberry???

Hue thinks Ford will be back next week??

"He’s very close to being out," Jackson said. "He’s still in it for maybe one more time. I think he’ll be out of that thing pretty soon. I’m sure he’ll be excited about that."

“JC” in the works??

"He tried a little bit, and it just wasn’t there," Jackson said. "But he’s getting there. It’s going to take some time. He’s working at it, I promise you that. I’m really excited about the potential of him coming back here at some point in time."

Another sell-out??

Raiders chief executive said on radio today — 95.7 FM — that the game is close to being sold out, which means it will sell out by Thursday’s deadline and, therefore, be televised locally.

Hue said his biggest challenge this season was dealing with all the injuries but he’s not willing to use that as an excuse…“Next Man Up” is for real and even though it’s a replacement group on the field now they still have to think “NMU”!!!…

No, Denarius is not glass. I've seen him take hits on kick-offs and punt returns that would have ended the season of a mere mortal.

He gets pounded and goes straight to the huddle as a WR. The fact he carries himself so well after the punishing abuse he’s taken only makes my admiration for him boundless and Moore is the most graceful, and most natural, athlete on the team.

Bears 17-16 Raiders…So how do we get “16”?…Can’t be a bunch of "FG"s with Jano’s hammie…2-“TD”-n-“S”..LoL!!

Others of note:

“SD” over the “Donkey” 27-10…Yikes!!…Tebow is crucified and they just cut Orton!!!

"KC"’s Death Stroke Is Finalized…38-13 at the hands of Pitts!!!…Orton can’t save the day???

Hou-Jax 23-10….I don’t believe that!!!…“D” will decide and I pick Jacks to take it…This will be Houston’s 1st post injury humiliation!!!

9ers Get taken down by Big Brother…24-17…

“GB” by 1 over Lions?….31-30!!..Again there must be a “S” involved

Baby HUEy will be the biggest factor.

Watching the games it sometimes seems that there is little foresight and NO contingency plan at all by Jackson and company. This attitude comes from when we had a healthy Dmac and the game plan was simple – run run run. Well DMac ain’t healthy and we now have a QB that can throw accurately more than 25 yards so he should be refining a game plan that reflects those things. You can’t (and wont) get cheap with the Bears D ,they are too good for that. We need to come out scoring and keep even or ahed to win. Let these guys have a lead and try to play catch up = a loss. The Bears are a team that will really take advantage of any mistakes we make so we need to play disciplined and flawless football. I don’t see us winning if we turn the ball over and commit penalties…we were lucky to get away with that in some other games but we won’t get away with it with the Bears.

You know what would make a good story? Something about a clown who makes people happy, but inside he's real sad. Also, he has severe diarrhea.

True, the Bears are opportunists, their Defense always featuring strip tackles, ball-punches, tips, interceptions.

Our O will not be able to put this one out of reach at halftime. We need 4 quarters of focused execution.

I think the injuries will catch up to us this week.

If all the players who didnt practice yesterday dont play Sunday, we’re fucked.

Sounds like you're squared away and ready for Bear. Hope there's cause for you to stuff those levi's in your boots and head into town

Sounds like heaven to me.

Girlfriend: So the guy who catches the ball is the catcher, right?
Me: No. They are called wide-receivers. Catchers play baseball.
Girlfriend: Samething.

Damn

So still no DMac, haven’t heard anything about Ford but I assume he’s still out, no Moore, No DHB…this is ridiculous. We’re going to have get Taiwan, Reese and Ausberry out there into the pass game. Otherwise Palmer won’t have anyone to throw to.

We really can’t afford any penalties this week. The Bears already have a solid D and not 3/4ths of our offense is sidelined. Our defense better step it up and play a full, hard 60 minutes for once.

Oh

And we better not kick anywhere near Hester.

Crap

We’re not even going to have T. Jones? Our D is really going to have to step it up this game, because I’m not sure how our offense is going to manage to get anything done with just Palmer, Bush, and Reese.

Maybe one of these weeks we’ll actually come out with a win AND no injuries. That would be a nice change…

Chaz & Murphy were our #2 and #3 receivers at the beginning of last year ...

Granted we all love the excitement that Moore and Ford bring to the table, and it’s great to have DHB our there (this year, at last), but it’s not like Chaz and Murph are no longer viable NFL wide receivers. They just need to pick up the slack and play to their potential.

Fact is, the home stretch of this season likely defines whether or not either of them stays on the team (and by extension, even in the NFL), and both of ’em probably well know that. They may not get another chance in this league w/the way that Ford, Moore, and DHB are playing. Having DHB, Moore, and Ford out is an absolute golden opportunity for both of them to show the Raiders and the league as a whole that they have what it takes.

So basically I expect those dudes to see these next few game as the games that will define the viability of their careers moving forward, and as such, I’m expecting solid (if not stellar) performances out of both Murph and Chaz this week. IF they don’t rise to the occasion and make the most of the opportunity this week (and possibly the next couple games), they are going to have a tough time convincing anyone moving forward that they deserve roster spots in this league.

True Be That...Limited Not Having All 6 Options But To The Point Of Despair...

Last season when we used Chaz and Murphy the “TE” and "RB"s were the primary targets…That can happen again…Last week in fact that was the case after “DHB” was lost a Moore was nicked…

Rolando McClain disappointment

Although he has shown flashes, more often McClain has been a disappointment. Most of all the big run plays the raiders D has let up have been due to poor play by rolando.. Is he better than kirk morrison??? shouldn’t take 3 years to develop as run stopper MLB… better keep studying film..
