It was exactly two months to this day give or take some minutes and hours where Demarcus Van Dyke was assured a roster spot and Sterling Moore was not. Some fans on this blog and YouTube were puzzled to why DVD was rewarded with a roster spot after having a ugly training camp while going up against badass wide receivers such as Larry Fitzgerald and Marques Colston in preseason while Sterling Moore who impressed in training camp and had a good preseason going up against no-named no.5 and no.6 wide receivers. To their credit Sterling Moore was added to the practice squad a day later. So! Here we have a little cycle: Chris Johnson gets injured, DVD steps in, DVD struggling, DVD injured, Chimdi Chekwa steps in, Chimdi Chekwa impressive, Chimidi Chekwa injured, DVD back in, DVD starting to look good. Somewhere in that cycle Sterling Moore is let go of from the practice squad in favor of some dude who I think has been let go of also. I remember seeing a fan post on SBP as I guess we call it(I'll get to that later) stating Sterling Moore has been added to the patriots practice squad. I read a post saying " I won't be surprised if Sterling Moore is a way better Cornerback than DVD and only a little better than Chimdi Chekwa", I kind of scoffed at that comment after all the coaches know more about the player than the fan does. Obviously Demarcus Van Dyke was no fan favorite at the time or at least no Internet fan favorite, but look at the situation DVD went up against starters, sterling Moore did not, that's why he had a little to no success. Around October Sterling Moore was added to the New England Patriots practice squad. Only a few days later Moore was added to the active 53-man roster on October 15th only to be released 72 hours later. So it's obvious to the Raiders Sterling Moore had limited potential to them in the NFL, but than the Patriots gave Sterling a chance and they clearly saw no brilliance to keep him on their roster or even practice squad for that matter. Sterling Moore is yet to be added to another roster while DVD is beginning to impress. So let's get to DVD's CB stats, on 26 passes thrown his way only 10 have been completed according to STATS LLC, that's the eighth- best rate of any cornerback whose had at least 20 passes thrown his way. He was targeted 12 times by Colt McCoy allowing only 5 completions for 63-yards. Our best friend Matt Cassel threw his way 8 times only completing 4 passes for 33 yards and an interception. I don't mean to hate on Sterling Moore if it appears that way, after all he is a local kid. I just wanted to post this because I had faith in Demarcus Van Dyke even during his crappy preseason(I.e look at the situation), I mainly have faith in him because I'm a big fan of the University of Miami players. College players coming from The U have had a large amount of success in the NFL, that's another reason I have faith. I'm not saying DVD is a perennial pro-bowler, I'm just saying sometimes there's a big picture to the story! Side note(non-Raider related) Sorry if there is any mistakes, I'm not sure if I'm even supposed to be posting this type of news here. Though I did join this site 4 days ago, so please forgive any rookie mistakes. I have followed this site for about 2 years after a 49er fan told me about silverandblackpride.com Other sites I followed along with this were justblogbaby.com and silverandblackattack/blogspot.com. But those sites were nothing special based on content compared to this, so the past year I've soley been following SBP. If I had an opinion I usually just posted comments on Raiders videos on YouTube(see channel Chrisdemarinis1). I always read about 5-10 comments on this site, but never really cared to sign-up and post an opinion.
