How to Build a Bully the Raider Way

Stay connected for news and updates

The good news is, Al showed us how to put together a team that could not only be a bully, but dominate in the Super Bowl. The bad news is, it took drafts which had 12 rounds back in the day, and we've only got 7 rounds to work with now.

These are the starters of Super Bowl XVIII and how we got them:

Jim Plunkett - Free Agent
Kenny King - Trade - Jack Tatum (Raiders also got 2 picks)
Marcus Allen - Draft 1st Round 1982
Cliff Branch - Draft 4th Round 1972
Malcom Barnwell - Draft 7th Round 1980
Todd Christensen - Free Agent

Dave Dalby - Draft 4th Round 1972
Bruce Davis - Draft 11th Round 1979
Mickey Marvin - Draft 4th Round 1977
Henry Lawrence - Draft 1st Round 1974
Charlie Hannah - Trade Dave Browning, 4th Round Pick

Howie Long - Draft 2nd Round 1981
Reggie Kinlaw - Draft 12th Round 1979
Lyle Alzado - Trade - 8th Round Pick

Ted Hendricks - Trade - Two 1st Round Picks
Matt Millen - Draft 2nd Round 1980
Bob Nelson - Trade (?)
Rod Martin - Draft 12th Round 1977

Lester Hayes - Draft 5th Round 1977
Mike Haynes - Trade - 1st, 2nd Round Picks
Mike Davis - Draft 2nd Round 1977
Vann McElroy - Draft 3rd 1982

Ray Guy - Draft 1st Round 1973
Chris Bahr - Free Agent

And the result:

Here's how they did it
