My top 5 favorite Raiders (current)

Sitting at 7-4 right now, I cannot help but be glowing with "Silver and Black Pride", no pun intended. Since I am sitting in my college econ class with nothing else to do, I figured making a list that everyone can reflect on would be cool.

5. Richard Seymour- I don't like how Seymour commits dumb penalties out of frustration; however, you cannot deny that our defense would be terrible if we did not trade for him 3 years ago. Despite getting older, Big Dick Rich has been getting better. 4 sacks in 2009, 5.5 sacks in 2010, and now 6 sacks already in 2011 with 5 games to play. He is the beating heart and soul of our defense and even though it is unlikely, I hope he goes into the Hall of Fame as a Raider after being cast away by the Pats.

4. Michael Bush- How can you not like Michael Bush. McFadden goes down and Bush promptly runs for 105 YPG the next five games along with four touchdowns. Bush is by far the best back-up running back in the league. Even though he is going to cost money, I think it's very important we keep him next year in case the injury bug bites McFadden again. Another year of McFadden, Bush, and Taiwan would be just plain scary for defenses.

3. Darren McFadden- If McFadden stayed healthy this year and continued to tear it up, I would have had him higher than 3. He was on pace for 1500 yards when he went down. There is no doubt McFadden is a fantastic back, however, if he continues to get hurt and can only play 8-12 games per year, I don't know how valuable he is. Prior to last year, McFadden ran like Reggie Bush; always bouncing everything to the outside. I gained a lot of respect for him when he started to hit defenders head on. Overall, Run DMC is a beast.

2. Shane Lechler/Sebastian Janikowski (Package deal)- You are not a true Raiders fan if you don't appreciate the services of these two. Week in and week out they prove that they are the best at what they do. Lechler is a 6 time pro bowler, 8 time all-pro selection, and should be in the hall of fame when he retires. As for Jano, the public, other players, and media do not really like him, so as a result, he has not made any pro-bowls. That is absolute bullspit. With a hurt hamstring, he went 6/6 and basically won us the Bears game. I love both of these guys and I never go a game without appreciating them. I hope they are both Raiders for life.

1. JACOBY FORD- My bro-mance with Jacoby really took off last year against the Kansas City Chiefs. For those of you that don't remember, he had four top 10 sportscenter plays in the second half against KC. He has only been in the league for one and a half years and already has 5 kickoff return TDs. He's basically a Johnnie Lee Higgins that can catch. Not to mention, Jacoby is probably the fastest player in the NFL. Many great years to come from this young stud. Heal up Jacoby, we're gonna need you down the stretch.

There's my top 5. I welcome you guys to dive in and share.

Nice to see some love for Routt

Funny how 2 years ago I used to curse Routt and he was probably my least favorite player cause he was constantly getting burned and constantly getting penalties. He’s really blossomed the last 2 years into a great CB for us and he’s made the loss of Nnamdi more than manageable. Now I really enjoy watching take on #1 WRs and I loved the way he shut down V Jax not long ago.

You know what would make a good story? Something about a clown who makes people happy, but inside he's real sad. Also, he has severe diarrhea.

My Top 5

1. Seymour – He is the definition of a bully…the impact he’s had on the defense is immeasurable
2. McFadden – Best stiff arm in the business
3. Routt – Quietly having a Pro Bowl type year
4. D Moore – The sky is the limit for this kid
5. Shaunessy – Our pass rush would be top 3 if he were healthy

Can’t say I’m big Palmer fan just yet…I reserve judgement to see if he can take us to where Hue said he would and then I’ll believe. As of now, his numbers and performances have been up and down.

"THE TIME TO WIN IS NOW" - Coach Hue Jackson

Raider Nation..........we need all hand's on deck or get the hell off the ship! That's the way it's gonna be around here from now on! If trading away a couple of first round draft picks can get you a proven franchise quarterback like Carson Palmer and a legitimate shot at going to the playoffs, then fine...............you know why? Because this team is standing behind it's motto & legacy, "Just Win Baby!" and "Commitment to Excellence" instead of "Suck for Luck" & "Give Up". Imagine if you were a fan of a team that actually bought into that!?!

Cheers,

- Saint

My tops and our future

5. Lamar Houston
4. The Wiz
3. Death Ro
2. Curry
1. Dmac/ Bush/ Palmer/ Moore
I know four guys in the number 1 slot but it could have easily been more. The number of players that this team has is unbelievable. Has to be the most talented team in the NFL. The best part is approx. 90% of the team is very young. And Shane and Jano oh my by far the best to legs in the league.

I watched Lito on the sidelines Sunday as he went up and down the bench exhorting one player after the next and congratulating

players after good plays. His head is totally in the game and he’s playing a leadership role.
Curry is playing like the top 1st round pick he was.

Hon Mention: Wiz, Giordano, Curry, Reece, DMC, Condo (awesome long snapper)

The cowards never started, the weak died along the way....

by BlackHeartSilverEyes on Dec 3, 2011 3:31 AM PST reply actions

Here's mine

1. Richard Seymour – Talk about taking people under your wings. Ever since this guy has shown up it’s been nothing but carrying for him. He’s had the best attitude, been the best mentor, etc. Ever since he told everyone before the first game “I’ll be the guy on top of the QB” and picked up two sacks, I’ve had a definite man crush. And for a cherry on top of all that he bitchslapped a rapist.

2. DMC/Bush – I list them both as one, because to me they are one half each of the greatest running back of all time. As soon as Taiwan can get some more snaps and show off his magic he will be added to this.

3. Wiz 2.0 – I think Al hit the jackpot with this guy. Of his draft class are there any guys that were drafted in front of him playing at the level he is? Not only has he become a monster in the same position his uncle dominated for a decade, but if need be he can move over and be one helluva center.

4. Tyvon Branch – Yes sometimes he looks like he’s lost. Sometimes he outright blows coverage. But more often then not he is an absolute menace out there. By all rights he should not be our leading tackler, but the fact that he is shows his tenacity. I think one day he will be listed among the elite safeties of all time.

5. DHB – There’s one word that can describe why DHB is listed here. Underdog. Since the day he’s been drafted he’s been told he was going to fail. For 2 years he was proving them right, but all the while he was working. Everyone says nobody works as hard as DHB. Nobody has ever heard a cross thing come from his mouth. Since the day he was drafted he’s done nothing but work his ass off to become the guy he is today. And he’s still a kid! He isn’t even close to his prime yet, and I can’t wait to see him blossom into the Raider that Al Davis knew he would become. When you think of work ethic, and the physical tools that would make a CB piss their pants you think of DHB. I think when this kid’s career is over he and Al will have the last laugh about that “bust” tag he once wore on his sleeve.

Current Top 5(Package deal style!)

1. Janikowski, Lechler, Condo-These guys have stayed hungry and play like a Raider game in and game out.

2. Dmac, Bush, Reece-There is not a better backfield in the NFL when all are healthy. Plus keeping with Raider tradition, Reece is continuing on the long line of fullback dominance that the Raiders have been known for over the years.

3. Houston, Routt, Branch-These silent assassins have put their noses to the grindstone when ever their numbers are called.

4. Ford, Moore, DHB -Speed kills nuff said.

5. Moss, Curry, Palmer, Seymour, Wimbley-Cast off from their previous teams and put on the Silver and Black and have never looked back.

Your top favorite Raiders are all on STs and two of them are kickers (not even real football players).

Are you a soccer player by any chance?
