Heartbreaking Loss for Our Raiders
This Game Is Over. That is what I was staring at on my computer screen with this horrid feeling in my stomach after the Detroit Lions blocked the 65 yard field goal attempt by Sabastian Janakowski. The Live Stream I was watching faded to black and I still could not believe what just happened. I don't even know what to say right now. That game had so many ups and downs in it, and it looked like we had it in hand. Evidently we did not.
How on earth did we let the Lions go 99 yards in 2 minutes to score. I just can not fathom what on earth we were doing. So many questions and not enough answers right now. Where do we go from here? New England finally stopped Tebow but then he gets an incredible 4th quarter comeback from some higher power anyway with Matt Stafford tearing our hearts out of our chests. Calvin Johnson is good but come on!! Every single person in the world of football knew he was going to be targeted at the end of this game and we did absolutely nothing to stop it.
Thanks a whole bunch for throwing the damn ball on 3rd and 3 Hue!!!! Michael Bush was running the best he has in weeks. At that time we run the ball and hope to get the first. We don't throw the damn ball and stop the clock. I don't care if the ball went off of both of Chaz Schilens hands to go incomplete on that play, it never should have happened. The announcers said that was one of those plays that you look like a genius if you complete it and open yourself to questions if you don't. In my opinion he would not have looked like a genius if that play worked. To me he would have looked like he got incredibly lucky that the play worked and it still would have been the wrong decision. Run the ball!! We are suppose to be a damn running team, remember?!?
We showed up and played this game at least. We were right there. It would have been nice to see a legitimate attempt on that field goal and see if SeaBass would have nailed it. I think yes but the Lions special teams said NO. There were just a few plays that were the difference in this game. It has to be so disappointing for DHB to have had such a career game and end up with the thing he is going to remember being fumbling that football.
Yet another golden opportunity is wasted. This game was incredibly exciting but it ends up just another time where being a Raider Fan has stomped on my soul. We are still alive at 7-7 with Denver at 8-6. Both teams have the Chargers and the Chiefs left on their schedule and if we win out and they lose one we can still win this division. I am doing my best to not lose hope right now. After all it was just This Game that is over, right?

I'll give Chuck this much
his is doing his best to insure that the next pick Cincy gets is a second rounder, and not a first!
It's just a shame.
I was a huge fan of Hue Jackson, but he’s shown me that he simply cannot coach with a league. He’s got to go. We’ve got to move on. Can’t take it anymore. I’ve had enough.
I cant get on that band wagon. He needs to improve a lot next year but I am pretty much never in favor of firing a first year head coach.

amazing how he lets trying to be the best coach ever get in the way of just doing what it takes to win today...
he’ll eventually overcome those rookie mistakes I think, but if we see it happen in Oakland I’m beginning to wonder…

Usually, me either.
I wasn’t either, but honestly? If the team doesn’t show up, it builds a lead for him to blow with prevent defense and soft offensive play calling. The thing about it is, I REALLY. REALLY. LIKE HIM. I just can’t take this shit. We’re not a 6-8 football team, period. And a lot of the losses, I feel, fall on him.
We are 7-7 at least but yeah I definitely agree a lot of these losses fall on him.
However that is what makes me want to bring him back at least for one more year, see if he learns anything about them in the offseason. You know he will be watching them non stop and I have faith in him learning when he can look at them a little more objectively.

to be honest…I didn’t mind the call to throw it on 3rd and short…it tells me he’s trying to win the game…this loss falls on the D cord. AGAIN!!! who the fuck plays a prevent when you have a team backed up on the 2…WTF…blitz dumb ass…and hope you get a sack, holding Pen. or cause a bad throw…but no…here we are 4 front and the next raider standing 7yrd deep…man this one hurts only because with a win we would of controlled our own fate making into the playoffs…and now as it stands we need a lot of help…we need a donks loss to KC and we need to win out…we can still win the Div if the Donks loose to KC even if they win next week…We of course have to beat KC and the Dolts…but it can be done…I’m not going to get into the rest of the what if’s…bottom line we need a new D cord…and McClain had a chance to make the biggest play of his career and got jucked and busted arm tackle…WTF…we need to move to a 3-4 D to get something out of McClain…he just can’t handle being a dominat force in the middel like a R lewis…

Part of the reason we suck
is the coaching turnover. While I don’t think much of Hue, I at least think we need to have some consistentcy in this organization for once. Need the same QB/HC/OC for consecutive years.
Uggggh
Is it the coaching? Has to be right? Our defense CONSTANTLY looks lost out there. How does Calvin Johnson get covered by Rolando McClain??? Where in the blue hell was Routt, the big MONEY defender out there to cover him? Bresh needs to fired right now, no waiting, no more “We are going to fix it”, just fire his stupid ass already!!! I’m sickened by this game. And Hue, take the points for the love of pearl!!!! He had no problem taking those points when Campbell was there, ugggghhh. I’m entirely too pissed off to rationalize this loss. It may have just really ended the season cause now we need a XMas miracle to make the playoffs. The lack of leadership on that defensive field is absolutely disgusting and such a marvel of waste of talent. Our secondary is pretty terrible too. The only good news was getting Moore back there. He opens up plays for everyone else and it showed again today. Great job DHB, except for the fumble I thought you were exceptional today at taking advantage of your opportunities. As for the team, this loss is dedicated to the coaching staff. Way to go.

DHB looked good
He has been baling he had one fumble but he was trying to make a play
Yeah he still had a great game. Still, you could see he didnt have the nose of the ball tucked in when he was breaking that tackle. It was too easy for the defender to know the ball away, DHB will only remember that play.

It was definitely the coaching
This was undoubtably the worst coached game I have seen so far. Why not take the easy three to start the game off? Those three ended up being might costly. Not going for two when up by 12, another questionable call. Trying to win by attempting the least successful play in the offensive playbook (seriously what is the completion percentage for the bomb down the sidelines anyways?)… Wow bad decisions…
Then we look at the defensive side of the ball, where the only time all day that the Raiders stopped the lions was on the blitz, yet the failed to blitz on either of the last two drives, instead opting for a “tampa cover two” as hue put it, when Megatron hauled in the bomb. Seriously, Ro on C-johnson?? THAT was your best defensive call?? Rush 3, and put #55 on their best WR. WOW FAIL!
And while we are on the topic, how about the choice to run the ball out of the endzone on the last KR. How about taking a knee, and get it at the 20 (which was better than where he got to), and save the extra time on the clock.
That my friends is horrible coaching. Good leaders put their players in a position to succeed. Hue and Chuck did not do that today, even though the players had a good effort.
I blame the coaches for having f***ing boyd on the field when he belongs on the bench
He cannot play safety and apparently can’t even play a decent special teams player.
Hue Jackson is the worst coach in the history of football.
Seven minutes to go in the game, the Raiders score a touchdown to take a 12 point lead, and he doesn’t go for two???
How does this happen? This is basic math we are talking about. This is elementary. It’s like lining up to kick a field goal when you’re down by three points or less, and there is only one second on the clock and you’re at the 20 yard line. Hue would’ve called for a hail mary.
It’s inexcusable. Horrific, horrific coaching.
I've got nothing.
See response to slapchop lol
I agree go for 2 there but a lot of coaches do wait to go for 2 in that situation too. Bit us squarely in the nuts though.

There are no coaches that don't go for the two-point conversion in that situation.
None. Zero. Zilch.
It’s an automatic call. There is no downside.
The problem was it was a defensive touchdown, and it happened too fast for his simple tiny brain. It’s embarrassing, these coaches don’t understand basic math. You would think when you run an organization with hundreds of millions of dollars, someone on the coaching staff would understand elementary school math.
I've got nothing.
Plenty of coaches do not go for 2 with over 7 minutes left. It was the wrong call but there are definitely other coaches that make that call too.

whats the difference
Between being up by 12 or 13 points w 6 minutes to go?
That was/is the biggest no brainer. If anyone has logical explanation why Hue didn’t go for 2 I’m all ears.

We'll have to get Hue a 2pt chart for Christmas..

thats a little over the top....
There have been FAR worse. Remember Art Shell #2??? Hue is not doing that badly as a whole, but this game is absolutely on him and his staff
I'm not even talking about X's and O's.
I’m just talking about basic math.
You absolutely have to go for two in that scenario.
Having a 12 point lead, and a 13 point lead are essentially the same with seven minutes left.
That’s why you have to get the 14 point lead.
I've got nothing.
Its not though, with 7 minutes left it is plausable to get 3 posessions and if they got 2 field goals and a td than we would have lost that way. It was wrong decision for sure though.

This was a team lose
Palmer missed two big plays. The Offense was off and on. The play calling was awful Delayed runs on 3-2. The defense has been bad all year they did make some big plays. This was the type of game when the team leader shows up. I didn’t see one on our side line. It’s like we are sitting around waiting for them to win the game. Then we had a bad snap on the final kick.
dusagree
This was a Hue loss. 100% on Hue Jackson.
Palmer played exceptional. Moore was grabbed in the 1st qtr. Should have been a pi. Chaz’s pass was literally 5 inches overthrown. Could have been caught.

Hue called a very good game. The key play was Stafford vs. McLame one on one Stafford beat Renaldo and got the first down
running past Pinhead to the 3. Renaldo, Panda and Schilens cost us the game – not Hue. Bresnahan is a Panda Oaf who again changed what was working late in the game – going soft and McLain is the worst MLB in the NFL.

I'd disagree with that a bit...
not simply running the ball on 3rd and 3, to me, is inexcusable. You make the bomb pass if you’re losing, but if you’re winning, you keep running out the clock. Go with the sure thing. Even if Bush doesn’t make it, the Lions have a significantly smaller amount of time to work with when you punt them the ball. There was only 39 seconds left on the clock when they scored… do the math. Additionally, the first down pretty much wins the game — you don’t need a touchdown to win the game. Just a first down (MAYBE two). It was a horrible call. This “win the game with one play” mentality is pretty stupid, IMO. Hue has done it before, and it has almost cost the Raiders the game; this time it DID cost the Raiders the game, I believe. Hopefully he’ll learn to make the smart call.
by raidershark on Dec 19, 2011 12:48 AM PST up reply actions
disagree with your disagree,
Raiders football is to strike with the unexpected. 3 rd and 3 late in the game with a suspect D. Go for the kill and win the game in one go. Knock out punch with an open receiver. I can live with that. Particularly when you have a great kicking game that can pin a team (which we did). What doesn’t work is ‘Ro covering Johnson with the game on the line. What’s missing with the D is a Hayes or Haynes drooling at the situation and getting a pick to close out the game. It was like the D didn’t want to lose, didn’t want to make plays on the final drive. We’re missing that killer instinct. On the earlier drive, Lions inside the red zone have a set QB draw up the middle; it’s ‘Ro versus a Stafford, he misses the tackle and gets a first down. Urlacher/Ray Lewis would drool to put a hurt on a QB who dared go up the middle when the game is on the line…We’re not ready.
by raiders4liffe on Dec 19, 2011 7:01 AM PST up reply actions
its a game of inches
Palmer is suppose to hit those throws. If he throws it inches shorter the game is over. Moore was held a little but he over threw him by a mile even if we wasn’t touch he was off. Those two plays were big because that why Palmer on this team. He played a good game other wise. I didn’t expect the defense to hold we all saw this in the preseason. It’s more than Chuck we need a team intervention starting up top to the lowest person
I would vote..
But there’s no “all the above” option.

he is playing like it is Techmo Bowl....
Dumb people do dumb things….
you can def put the failure to go for the automatic two pointer on Hue
but the missed play from Palmer to Moore wide open… the incredibly costly game changing scoring play fumble by DHB… the miscues we had at times we could’ve iced this one are too great to count
this team gets together to find a way to fail; that’s a characteristic of a losing team. It’s what we are. We had all the other teams in the division doing almost everything they can to help us win it, and still our ability to give it away supersedes that, and you get what we have. I’m disgusted right now. I put way too much energy into this to get what we get back week after week. One or two play calls didn’t cost this game.

Exactly
Its like a disease that has permeated this franchise for a while now. Remember when the rat Shanahan used to tell his players that “the Raiders will quit in the game, just wait for it”. Its still stinks like that. They need a hard ass coach to hold them accountable on both sides of the ball, not a player’s coach. I like Hue, but maybe he is just an OC.
not play calls brhynno in my post, just plays. Those plays are just a few and they meant everything.

That play came early. The plays that made the most impact were late in the 4th quarter - McClain unable to make a one on one
tackle of a fat QB who juked him and got a first down on the 3 yard line for the go ahead winning TD. Schilens also deserves rebuke but unlike Pinhead had several good plays.

As a Raider fan it sucks
But if you like football, it sets up some crazy games the next two weeks in the AFC west. All four teams can win the division.
We are already in the playoffs, starting next week. Put up or shut up time.

lol. seriously? we have zero chance to win a playoff game the way we give these ones away
the playoffs started weeks ago, and we’ve been losing really. this was the real start, and every chance to take it presented itself today, but again we squandered.

not considering the blowout to miami and green bay because really nobody showed up from what ive read, but the worst loss has to be Buffalo.
In case you forgot, we came back twice in the 4th qtr of that game in what was a helluva game by JC and the offense only to see our Chuck Bres lead D blow it repeatedly on the final drive where buffalo converted not once but TWICE on 4th down before even getting in position on the final play of the game. Then to have Buffalo walk in untouched. UNACCEPTABLE. This was almost as bad, but our offense was nothing like it was in week 2 today.

agree
Thats the game in which I saw that the typical Bresnehan BS was going to be our D for the year. I also agree with everything thats been posted. This is on Hue the team showed ,they played and even had some decent plays called. DHB played great too bad on the fumble. Bush was coming alive. 2 downs to get 3 yards to end the game and you throw deep…..not the time to gamble. Hue has to mature and we need a GM and a DC in a bad way.

Do you remember last time we played Buffalo
With JaMarcus? I think Bres was our DC that year too. By some miracle, JaMarcus and JLH put together a ridiculous TD pass late in the game yet our predictable prevent D gave away the game. Same story, different year.

367 yards for palmer no int's...
everyones screaming its palmer’s fault… im not on his nutsack by any means but im trying to see hows its his fault. I saw a glass schillens with one he had two hands on that would have changed the game
between the missed chances on big plays by Palmer
and the defense folding the last 2 drives especially 99 yards in 2 minutes…letting Johnson get past you is unreal…I am still stunned and pissed off I want to keep hope alive because we still do have a decent chance at making it with everybody losing around us…which makes this loss even worse to take. Such a disappointing game though I am so frustrated with this team right now…and McFadden wtf come back and actually play it is unreal how soft and feeble he is, always fucin hurt…man up you are by far our biggest play maker and can never stay on the field…FRUSTRATING

Not blaming this on HUE at all!!...
It was on Palmer… Had he made those 2 throws… All of yall would have be praising Him… Hue drew it up and the players failed… The play in it self worked… It was wide open… Now Hue should have went for 2 no doubt… Palmer had a good game… I thought the O play calling was fine… Don’t act as if it wasn’t for the most part… We had well over 400 yards and put pts up… O played a very solid game, and thats giving credit to Hue and Palmer who have been murdered on this site… Now as for Chuck B… Haha… We all agree… How do u blow that?… Are we the 1st team in NFL history to basically give up 3 hail Marys?… Texans, Bears, and no Lions have all just chunked up a long bomb to stay in the game… Not forget Browns and Jets also almost pulled it off… I mean fa real… U are a NFL Coach that spends countless hrs studying these things… How do u let a 6-5 WR who is the best in the game get behind the D with that weak cover 2 that didn’t work all game… Rhoutt had a lot of PIs but overall did orite against CJ… Everytime we went cover 2 we got popped!!… We polly had 2 stops in that crap… I am pissed!!… I’m also sick of hearing fire Hue after every lose… Really?… Mad @ Hue cause the QB over threw the WR… Dang I’m sick of the cryin by u guys… Yall cryin is worst then Chucks playcalling!!…

There's a difference between playing aggressive and playing smart
Sure those were some nice plays drawn up but they were very risky. Especially since they were running at will and had a waaaay better chance at converting on 4th and 1 and possibly 3rd and 3. And there wasn’t any shame in taking the 3 easy points or failing on that 3rd and 3 and then running the clock to the 2 minute warning (plus the extra 10 seconds or so that the punt would have run off after the 2 minute warning).
Maybe Palmer/Moore/Chaz makes the play and they score and win. But Jax has been playing with fire all season (he almost blew the Browns game with the same type of 3rd down play late) and today it bit him hard.
execution and some poor calls. the initial drive should've gotten at least three
maybe would’ve changed the game, but who knows. but doesn’t the execution fall on the shoulders of the HC too? DC inability to create pressure when we needed it most too, ultimately the HC wears the responsibliity.
Above all, the HC not finding a way to win a game, and not finding more ways to put your team in situations to win the game than you are situations to lose it, means this, fourth loss in a row, and fourth chance we’ve had to establish ourselves alone in this division and really in the mix going for something…
not yet, anyways.

You play the percentages
that way you keep your job. I dont think Hue should be fired but he needs to learn you cannot always be the riverboat gambler. I think you gamble maybe 1 time but not everytime. Lets see in 2 weeks thats 3 trick plays with 0 results. HUE needs to mature as a coach. Bresnehan needs to be fired. The game plan was pretty good but 3 mistakes proved costly. I would like 10 bucks for everytime the Raiders have given up a lead in the last 2 minutes over the last 5 years. That is the frustrating part its the same old same old. However like I said this week 8-8 was approximately what I expected this year.
by Canadian Raider on Dec 18, 2011 6:06 PM PST up reply actions
Palmer was 32 for 40 for 367 yards,1 TD & 0 INT. That’s a passer rating of over 113. Blaming him for the loss is ridiculous. Especially when you consider the 2 big missed plays (going for it on 4th down in the first half and the long bomb on 3rd in the 2nd to last drive) NEVER SHOULD HAVE BEEN CALLED AS PLAYS. If Hue isn’t retarded and kicks the FG in the 1st half or runs the ball in the 2nd, we might win. Hue’s calls were completely and utterly inexcusable, and cost us the game.
Of course, the D didnt help us. Letting Johnson get over 200 yards receiving is fucking miserable, and should cost several players and coaches their jobs in 3 weeks.
Palmer had 8 incompletions all game
2 of which came on spikes. I’m sorry, but you’re wrong.
It's A Shame That Couldn't Have Been 6 Instead...He Had Those "WR" Wide Open For The Big Play..

Umm so why do we still have boyd on our team?
He nullified a 70 yard kick return with a needlessly violent block, then he missed the deep coverage at the end of the game which led to the touchdown. Also the first touchdown by CJ seemed to be his missed coverage as well. Basically he lost it for us today and doesn’t really seem to know how to play safety. We have Huff, Branch, and Mitchell at safety, why is he still on the team? is it because we are low on corners? ugh I’m pissed.
huff was inactive
Mitchell fucked up on the cj td.
Thought the block on the kick return was a clean play. Didnt understand that penalty.
Def a horrible play on the pi call at the end though
by rat, el rat, mr. rat, the rat on Dec 18, 2011 5:56 PM PST via mobile up reply actions
I think the PI was on Rout who I thought had an decent game overall
I just can’t get over the fact that Boyd got beat deep with 1min left in the game. He’s a safety goddam it and his job is to not let that one thing happen
Yeah I agree Rat, Its another obscure rule that they only call against the Raiders
There was helmet to helmet hit, maybe thats part of this “Blindside Block” rule. He was going to block him in the back hard but the guy turned around in time. In fact him turning around just as the hit came also was part of the helmet to helmet contact. Seemed like it was going to be a penalty but he turned around in time to be considered having been hit in the front.
The other penalty that REALLY pissed me off was the 3rd down play where they called pass interference because of a screen but the guy that they thought screened was the one that was targeted! What did he screen then? He slowed his own momentum to make the play, didnt seem like a penalty to me. Even made one of the announcers laugh!

I was fucking livid about that call ...
That was THE MOST BULLSHIT offensive PI call I’ve ever seen. And we were driving when that happened. All Schillens did was run up a few steps, a defender came up and chipped him, then he took a few more steps, turned around and caught a pass. How the FUCK was that a ‘pick’?
I also thought the PF on the block by Boyd on the kickoff was a garbage call. He didn’t lead w/the helmet, and the block was to the players side, not his back. That BS call cost us like 50 friggin yards.

I’m having the same issue with Randy Edsall at Maryland. “Not my fault; guys didn’t execute my plays” is a terrible way to coach.

Heatbreaking loss, but the season isn't over yet
Check out the playoff scenario generator at yahoo sports. If the Raiders can win out they have a very good chance of making the playoffs. All we need is for Cincinnati, Tennessee and the Jets to lose one game. Cincinnati has the Ravens and Cardinals. The Jets still have the Giants and the Dolphins. Tennessee has Jacksonville and Houston. If Tennessee starts Jake Locker they may be the team that knocks us out of the wild card. I can see Cincy losing to the Ravens and even possibly the improving Cardinals. The Jets still suck and I don’t see the Giants laying down again next week. We all know Miami is much better than their record. Tenn. should easily beat Jacksonville, but Houston will be the big question mark. The Raiders just need to take care of business. If the win their next two games they have a very good shot. I want to make the playoff bad this year!

Plus the AFC West is still alive
If Denver loses to KC (a resurgent Orton will be coming back to Denver to face his own team) and the Raiders win out, the Raiders will win the division due to a better division record.
With the way the Raiders have responded these three weeks though, it’s tough to say if they can win out (at KC next week then vs SD).

But seriously, I don’t think the players are going to quit. I’m saying that my hopes for this team to make the playoffs are over. I had the suspicion that it was over after the Miami loss, but I think this was the proverbial “nail in the coffin”.
More interesting than I thought it would be
Didn’t see us beating the Jets, Houston, or Chicago. Also didn’t see us losing at home to Denver… haha so many highs and lows.
I'd say the one in Buffalo
We were up 21-3 in the 1st half and lose 35-38. Un-ac-cept-able.
Proud to be a brony.
Questionable Playcalling throughout the game
I bet Coach Jackson wishes he had the early chip-shot FG attempt back. That decision ends up being a big swing because not only do they forego 3 near-sure points, but also fail to convert on the TD attempt.
Also, I’m with everyone here and Ice Cube on the 3rd and 3 decision – WTF? You’re up, just need the 1st down, and have Michael Bush finally pushing people around late in the game – and you decide to go for that “all in” play that’s only worked once in garbage time to Louis Murphy against Miami. I generally like Coach Jackson being aggressive, but he becomes too impatient at times, and also doesn’t know when to dial it down.
As for the defense on the last drive, I don’t care what Coach Jackson says about it not being the scheme. Any defensive play that involves even the possibility of Rolando McClain on Calvin Johnson should have been removed from the playbook before the game – it simply never should have happened. Not to mention Stanford Routt having one of his worst games of the season, doing his best impersonation of a Detroit Lions jersey all day. The defense had its moments in the 3rd quarter, but fell apart when it mattered most.
Overall, the best we can hope for is that Coach Jackson can learn from these types of game, about his tendencies in playcalling and scheming, and try to get better or the next game. Right now he’s making more poor decision than smart decisions, and its disappointing.

defense sux
Our defense sucks! Since Sporano is gone form Miami hopefully that makes Mike Nolan available for hire. No leadership on the defense. The only consistant players are Wimbley, Branch and Kelly. Mclain still seems lost out there and until he gets a clue he cant be the leader we need him to be. Hue needs to keep his mouth shut aswell. What happened to building a bully, reducing penalties, winning the West, and making the playoffs. I like his aggresive style but damn. Just do it!!
now that i do agree with...
Our D is trash… I think Curry has been pretty consistent and gives the D a ton of energy… I just hope we don’t let him walk like we did with Thomas Howard…

Denver hasn't clinched yet
If Denver loses to KC and Raiders win out then Raiders win the division due to better division record. Not sure what the tiebreaker is if Denver loses to Buffalo but beats KC….both Den/Oak would have the same H2H, division, and conference record. Not sure what their records vs common opponents are.
checked common opponents....
Denver would have the tiebreaker if they lose to Buffalo but beat KC, and Raiders win out. They would have 7 wins vs common opponents and Raiders would have 6.
We have a better chance of finishing in 4th
than 1st.
In order to make the playoffs, we need to win both games AND Denver has to lose to KC.

I Could Post About Faith/Hope And Other Such Things Which Are Not The Possession Of All Fans...
But there are other reasons…We match up well against “KC” n “SD”…
Cinn does not match up well against Bal who are now very pissed with that loss this week and will have to fight to the finish to take their AFCN away from Pitts…
Jets are inconsistent and meet both the Giants n Miami who could very well take them down…
Tenn has Jacks n Hou both from their AFCS…Houston is still fighting for the bye week…

Where's the silver lining?
Our hand-me-down owner is a spineless wimp.
Our “head coach” is an arrogant narcissistic fool.
Our “DC” is great… if by DC you mean utterly DDDDevoid of CCCCourage or CCCCharacter.
Our “players” have no heart.
And league policy, absolutely and without question is to the FUCK THE RAIDERS at every possible opportunity. 3 horrific bad calls: (1) Boyd called for “blocking” on the kick return, (2) Shillings called for “catching” on the OPI, and Routt called for “defending” on the DPI. The last, of course, is a flag that NEVER would have been thrown against any other team in that situation, effectively handing the TD and the game to Detroit. The Zebras have specific instructions NOT TO MAKE OUTCOME ALTERING CALLS unless the penalty is egregious… OR THE OFFENDING TEAM IS THE RAIDERS. Routt did not lay a finger on the receiver, as replays clearly showed.
The fact is, Raider fans, that AD won a clear-cut victory in court for the LA rights and the NFL will NEVER EVER EVER relent in its ongoing warfare against this team and this fan base. We are royally and totally screwed, forever and tomorrow, and NOTHING WILL EVER CHANGE. No HC of any quality will coach THE RAIDERS, because everyone in this FUCKED UP POLITICAL FARCE of a league knows the score.
Good night, Raider fans, but don’t expect this NIGHTMARE TO EVER END.
Loss because of poor coaching
This lost goes to the Coach, he’s gotta go!! should of went for 2 point on the last touchdown. then on 3rd and 2 he passes? 4th best rushing team against the 27 rank run defense now all you hear from him is excuses. If all was here Hue would be gone…
Hue called a good game. Even the pass to Moore in the 1st and the pass to Schilens (both wide open) were good calls
but lacked execution. Yes, I was calling for more Bush in the late 4th because our OL, i.e. Veldheer and Wisniewski were blasting the Lions DL off the line and it seemed that running in a 3rd and 3 was supremely logical (if they haven’t stopped us yet why change anything?!). Still, it was a gutsy call that almost worked. My scourge is aimed like a lazer on Bresnahan and McClain. These two deserve the Nation’s wrath as one undermined the D with his strategy and the other with his horrible play.

please explain
How going for a high risk high reward deep pass on 3rd and 3 was a good call?
I think it was a horrible call. If Hue felt like we needed to throw the ball to pick up the 1st down. Why not throw a much higher percentage shorter pass play? Palmer was killing them all game on those quick passess.
We didn’t need to score. Going deep on that play was devoid of any logic (second only to NOT going for a 2 pt conversion). We get a 1st down and we win the game.

He Was Wide Open So The Call Was Good...Execution Failed....Take Both!!
There were other higher percentage plays available and there may have been another receiver open on that play…But Palmer saw what he saw and pulled that trigger…Little too amped up and overthrew…Shit happens!!…These are NOT machines out there…
"Tebowphobe"!!!
Yes, not machines
Hence my point. When you throw deep there is a low percentage that the play will be succesful. Regardless of how open one is.
Also-Chaz deep was the primary target on that play. Palmer didnt go through multiple reads and choose Chaz for a lack of other open receivers.

p raider
Chaz deep was option one. Again- palmer didn’t look short then decide to throw deep for a lack of a open receiver. Re watch the play.

It was a knock out, win the game play
particularly relevant when you’re D couldn’t handle Johnson all day. Again, no issue with that call. If the Dcan’t stop a team from marching 98 yrds with less than 2 minutes, we don’t deserve to go to the playoffs.
by raiders4liffe on Dec 20, 2011 5:09 AM PST up reply actions
we didnt need to knock them out
We needed 3 yards to move the chains. We get a first down we win the game. Period.
I don’t have a prob w throwing on that play. I have a prob w throwing a deep pass. A 30 yd or 3 yd gain were essentially the same in that scenario.

Obviously this is bad, but i voted Miami, thats what killed us
First off id like to state, Bresnahan should be fired imediantly, how many games have we been ahead by a good margin, then we play a soft zone for the last quarter? WHAT? ARE U FUCKING SHITTING ME? On the onfensive side, Hue deserves credit, im sorry, u can say Hue lost this, or schillins, or even DHB, NO im sorry, Hue put us in a position to win. Period. We dont play to barely win, we dont play to come back, we play to win. The hearts in the right place, the mind is on the right track. Yeah we lost, another game we shouldnt have but i this team is destined for great things..We are a team built for tomorrow not playing for today..Go Raiders, even in defeat we are still Commited to Excellence. Id like to think this was Als real dream. And alot of people will say, what about the last two weeks, well thats the past and we cant change that…So man the cannons my matties, we ant out, were just down, and we all know we are underdogs and play as such

The real cause of our pain
I am a relatively new member of the silverandblackpride community, but have been a Raider fan for over 30 years. This is a great blog and I have enjoyed reading every post since the pre-season. This was an awful, heartbreaking loss and I am surprised that the community has ignored the elephant in the living room. I know it is poor form to cast blame upon a recently deceased person, but Al Davis is the reason why this team is so bad. Although he was a spectacular owner/manager/coach in the 70s/80s/90s, he has been out of touch for almost a decade. His micro-managing and terrible decision making are the reasons why the Raiders have been the worst team in the NFL for the past 8-9 seasons. I know it is potentially heretical to write this, but the fact that he is gone is a good thing for the team. However, we cannot expect Al’s mis-management to be fixed a few months after his passing. It will take years to fix the mess that Al has created. Let’s be happy with a .500 season this year and a wildcard season next year. We will not be good until the Mark/Amy are gone and we have a real front office.
I hope
That I’m not the only one paying attention to this.
I am a Raider Fan. But I also a player's person as well.

I can think of 2 explanations for Hue's terrible calls
regarding the (lack of a) 2 pt conversion attempt and the long bomb on 3rd down during our second to last drive. After all, you don’t have to be a great football strategist to come to the right decisions. This means that (a) Hue lacks the basic common sense an average casual football fan possesses, or (b) he deliberately disregarded common sense and made a wager with absolutely nothing to gain. I’m not sure which explanation sucks worse for us.
Also, I don’t understand how people can heap blame of Palmer for this loss. Yeah, he missed a couple big throws. But his overall stat line was stellar. I’d rather lay the blame where it belongs, on the people that did little to help the cause. Like our horrendous secondary or the retarded coaching.
All I want for Christmas is a 2-point chart, a 2-point chart, yes a 2-point chart.
So I might win a game for Christmas.

It’s really no use…These damn Criers couldn’t wait to join in that “Circle-o-Tears” again…As it will always be…NO commitment to support only commitment a to TEARS!!
“SuckChuck”!!!….He Should have already been gone!!!
Our “D” could play and help this team win as witnessed in the 1st 3 1/2 quarters of play but NOT with “SuckChuck” at “DC”…He totally blew it…
Hue made a few mistakes but also called the plays that worked too so before you bastards jump on his ass take a look at all the positives that got us up by 13 late in that game!!!
“DHB” played a one hell of a game but wasn’t perfect…That fumble going down to the goal line was NOT Hue’s fault but it cost us at least 3 if not 7 points…Those points would have won this game…So add that to what Hue would have produced…
For the record:
It’s been a great season…Ups n Downs yes…Good n Bad yes…But exciting right down to the end…But evidently it ain’t over yet but very damn close…But I for one am thankful to have had it to watch and enjoy the high moments that this teams has struggled to bring to us…
Appreciating that just a few months ago we didn’t even know if we would view our Raiders again ever???
Now’s NOT the time to shit on that “Raider Parade” with your disgusting little girl tears…It’s time to muster up some support and continue to hold hope as long as this team continues to hold hope…And that will be right into the off season and that season which is to come later….
This is a damn good team…Needs a few additions and a few subtractions to be great but we be right on the cuff…

I agree
I’ve been a Raider fan since I watched my first game back in the late 80’s. Of my 29 years of life, I’ve celebrated exactly 7 seasons of winning Raider football ( I don’t count 8-8). No superbowls, a few Hall of Famers, and tons of losses. This year has been better than most of those years. It sucks and hurts like hell to lose, but here I still stand. I won’t quit on the team till mathematical elimination. Perhaps a xmas miracle occurs and the Raiders get in. I don’t know. It has been fun this year, even with all the injuries and terrible coaching. The future is still bright with a few tweaks and changes. Hope the boys finish strong this year, at least for this game I saw the effort. Too bad the execution and play selection weren’t there though :(

One Other Note: That "Zebra" Fucked Us Too Late In This Game...
Bogas “PI” calls that gave the Lions the edge!!!..The Radio Crew were also upset with it NOT just me…I listened to the Radio broadcast while watching the video as usual when I have the net working….

"Tebowphobe"!!!
Boyds pf call on the kick return was bogus
Chaz offensive pi call was even worse.
These 2 plays (same possesion) costs us at least 3.
Not to mention not calling pi on Denarious on the 4th and 1 play.
