5th Straight Victory in KC Keeps Raiders Playoff Hopes Alive
Some how we just won that game in overtime against the Kansas City Chiefs. That is the fifth straight victory in Kansas City. In other words that is 5 years straight of going into Kansas City, playing on their home field, and beating them. None of the other 4 meant as much as this game today did. We are still alive for the playoffs and we will be playing a meaningful game in the last week of the season for the first time in a decade.
I say some how because we had to overcome shooting ourselves in the foot with penalties once again. We accumulated over 200 yards in penalties in this game and Carson Palmer threw 2 really ugly interceptions. Palmer made up for it with 2 beautiful bombs in this game. One to super Rook Denarius for a TD and one setting up the game winning field goal in overtime to Darrius Heyward Bey. Penalties like that are why we are not in the playoffs already, but at least they didn't officially sink our season today.
This unprecedented season of the unknown has kept me on the tip of of my seat all year long. Richard Seymour gets my game ball of the week without question. His big mitt got up and blocked 2 attempted field goals from KC field goal kicker Ryan Succoup, who up until running into Richard Seymour had made 23 field goals in a row. The second of these blocked field goals forced overtime and saved the season for another week. He also played with a high motor through the whole game that we haven't seen from him in a while.
In Overtime it was short and sweet. It was a great feeling when DHB came down with that bomb on the first play from scrimmage in overtime. This was a great time for the lowest percentage play in the playbook and paid immediate dividends. Sabastian's game winning kick was not pretty, but it was beautiful! I was so nervous when that ball went into the air because it looked like it had a nasty spin on it. It went through and we win to move to 8-7 with one game left against the San Diego Chargers.
The Broncos lost leaving us with identical records but they still would win the tie breaker because of having won more against the same opponents. We need the Chiefs to show some more pride and go out win against the Broncos next week. We have to take care of our business first and foremost but we need the Chiefs to get us into the playoffs. I am thrilled right now with this victory and am excited for the opportunity to play a meaningful game in week 17. It is going to be an extremely nerve racking week and hopefully we can enjoy every minute of it.

Record aside, it's better to finish strong than weak. Raiders played hard in the 2nd Half and I'm proud of them.

But the Raiders make it hard. Defense that lets teams tun up and down their field, offense that goes three and out more than they score points. If it wasn’t ingrained in me by Plunket Branch Howie and Lyle and Marcus and the late 70’s and early 80’s of great Raider football I wouldn’t stick with em. The KC game was the worst game this year!!

We need to have the ball on offense in the last mins of the game with a chance to score and not leave it to Chuckles and his upside down play sheet.

Any chance the Raiders Chargers game becomes Sunday Night Football?
Playoff implications, they could probably also show KC-Den.
I don't even see a game scheduled for next Sunday night.
Does it conflict with some college bowl games, perhaps? But if any game were to get flexed to Sunday night it would be the Dallas/NYG game, since whoever wins that takes the NFC East.
Ya
Also after the performances the Raiders and Chargers displayed today, suspect the NFL would be too embarrassed.

For the first time today, watching Hue, I felt bad for him. Watching the look on his face in the victory said it all
Of course we know we’ve suffered right there with him through all this, and I’ve always been right there to pile on the guy, and when you look at the shovels of shit he’s had dumped on him this year via the hands of fate not even talking about the difficulties on the field, and I know how I’ve felt watching these games, and though I breathed a sigh of relief with the win, I’m relieved for him at this point. Not that I expect this team as it is to make a big push at this point, but finishing chasing it as if we can is no less the goal here.
How he’s able to keep this team together enough through all these penalties flying is nothing short of amazing. Even opponents get record flags against us.
We can learn a ton from this season, and use it to become great, hopefully sooner than later. At this point, even though I don’t think this team is prepared to push deep in any playoffs, I’m not at all adverse to them using the opportunity to continue to grow and learn to get there, and we may just luck into such a situation.
I’ll consider this one an early Xmas gift, because today would’ve been really shitty having had to go through all that to have it end like that. Big Seymour kicked ass when he needed to today. Gio was pretty impressive too, and is playing like a warrior. Rolando made some nice plays when we needed them too. If we can continue to make clutch plays like that and get more and more of the team to help, we can expect something special from this team. Man, did Carson ever have me worried about his ability to protect the ball after that first half. Some of those throws were awful, but the decision to throw them even more questionable, and I was expecting to see him repeat last week’s game, not a replay of his first game off the couch vs. KC… I look forward to Sunday’s when it’s not riddled with suspense and our constantly making games go down to the final play!
Hope everyones holidays are amazing. Looks like I’ll have to go to Oakland to support for the final game of the year, after all. Hope to see some of you there.

I have been on Hue at times ad much ad anyone but there is no doubt we have had to deal with unparalleled adversity on and off the field and if we end up with a 9-7 record it really would be an achievement.

And this team is still young.
I see progression on the raiders, and I have not been able to say that since I started watching them. Seems like they are going to be over the hump soon.
I’ll take 11 players with heart on the field over 11 guys with just talent. Talent is fleeting, it goes away over time. Heart is what drives you to be better. To push yourself beyond what you think your capabilities are. To show us that when you strive, all things are possible.- SMP
I dunno how he kept his composure ...
The way we were getting called for every single ticky-tack bullshit thing, and the Chiefs got away w/damn near anything that wasn’t so blatant that they HAD to call it. At least, that’s how I was feeling, and I was friggin’ FURIOUS, man. That Bowe touchdown where he basically threw the defender off of him to make the catch (but got no flag)?
Lets be real, if that was us, NO WAY do we get away w/that shit. Not only would every official on the field have tossed yellows, they would’ve fallen from the heavens from the ghosts of officials past if that had been us.
Shit was fucking RIDICULOUS out there. I’ve ALWAYS hated that black dude that officiated yesterday, it’s SO OBVIOUS he hates the Raiders. I dunno how Hue didn’t completely lose his friggin mind over that bullshit yesterday.

Good effort by the Raiders
It’s hoping for a lot for the Chiefs to beat the Broncos next week, but now that teams have had more time to break down Tebow’s game, it’s very possible. Honestly, I’m more concerned with the Raiders getting a win to get our first winning season since 2002 than I am what happens with the Broncos.

More than Tebow's failure is the collapse of their D that should have the Donks worried.

I have to be honest....
After KC got into field goal range on the last series, I was on the floor screaming and yelling! Next thing I hear is “the kick is blocked, were going to overtime”. I didnt even see Seymore block it! Then in overtime….that fake reverse. WOW! Did anyone see that coming? A deep ball to DHB?! And he caught it! Thats probably the biggest catch of his career to date! Im a happy man right now. KC lost. Denver lost. SD choked and lost. All I want for christmas is a Donkey loss, a Raider win and a healthy McFadden, and Ford next week! Merry Christmas to everyone of you Silver and Black bullies!

Quick question.
If we win, the Broncos win, and Cincy loses to Baltimore could we get cincys wildcard spot?
Yes and yes.
If Denver wins they get the AFC west, yuck. If they lose & we beat the Dolts we clinch the AFC West. If Cinci wins they are automatically in, but if they lose to Baltimore & we beat down the worthless, overrated POS sore-losing STD ridden Dolts we get the wild card. Either way I just hope we win.

True, but for the wild card, we'd also need Tenn to lose, or the JEts to win.

If everything falls into place and the Denver game decides whether we’re division champs or wild card, I thiiiink I’m leaning towards taking the wild card. Yeah we’d get a road game to start, but it’d be against a Houston team we already beat, who don’t have a qb. (Any news on Andre Johnson?) Going through the tiebreakers
Looks to me like a Cincy loss or a Denver loss coupled with a Raider win gets us in the playoffs.
This is the second week in a row in which things couldn’t have gone better for us in other games. Even the Cincinnati win likely helped us because we benefit from a 3-4 way tie involving Tennessee.
Cincinnati plays the Ravens. And the Ravens and Steelers games went our way too, with both winning. That means a bye is on the line for the Ravens next week. Go back a week and the Chargers beating the Ravens is the best thing that could have happened to us. Now the Ravens have something to play for.
And of course the Chargers loss this week helps. Next week there won’t be anything on the line other than pride for them. That may very well be enough, but they won’t be playing for the division.
Bottom line: If the Raiders win next week, they are likely to make the playoffs.
Getting the wildcard would be like a gift, as far as I'm concerned.
Because I’d much rather the Raiders get to face the Texans than Pittsburgh. However, I only really care that the Raiders do their job and beat SD. Whatever happens after that, playoffs or no playoffs, will fall as they may.
Eh
Don’t trust them. If there’s one thing I should hate, it would be the media due to their bias towards specific teams and them getting the information wrong.
Proud to be a brony.

In case there's any confusion about the Jets role here ...
And why we need help from them if we end up tied with TENN is that we lose the TB against TENN based on common opponent record. However, that TB relies on their being 4 common opponents, and the Jets/raiders/tenn DONT HAVE 4 common opponents, so that TB step becomes null and irrelevant in that three-way tie. At that point, the TB falls all the way down to strength of victory, and the Raiders have the best SoV of all these teams.

Great win
Then again, all wins are great. As KC lined up for the FG to end regulation, I told my brother that this is the season right here.
