Raiders vs. Packers Injury Report: We've Officially Slipped into Alternate Reality

Am I stranger in this alternate reality, or did all of you jump over with me? To find out, all I need to know is if your mind is blown by the statement.

Chaz Schilens is healing quickly while the rest of the Raiders are not.

So, does your mind = blown, too? What the hell kind of madness is going on here? Chaz Schilens was on the practice field in a limited fashion on Thursday and should be ready to go on Thursday. That is certainly good news because Jacoby Ford and Denarius Moore are not healing well, and barring a complete reversal in fortunes they will not play on Sunday.

Darren McFadden is also almost guaranteed not to play.

The good news is that the defensive line was on the field. Almost all of them are dinged, but they were all practicing. That's good news, 'cuz we're gonna need 'em.

Hard to see us having a chance with our home run hitters all out

We have been lucky to get this far with the injuries we’ve had all season but without those guys on the field…we become a much more predictable team. Miami had a n easy time on defense as they had no problems sniffing out most of our plays and without Hue’s “toys”, the playcalling becomes stagnant.

We need every single healthy body to play their absolute best game of the entire season in order to have a chance. These men need to go into beast mode and enforce their will and not be intimidated.

3 backers out for the pack.......

Little or no depth at that position is good news for us IF baby HUEy can figure out that he must utilize Reece , his tight ends and backs coming into routes out of the backfield. And I don’t mean Boss ,what TERRIBLE hands ,ugggggghhhhhh!
I originally felt the only way we win this is if we play a zone D to keep Rodgers in check ,now I’m not so sure. Green Bay’s receivers are very good – not great. Rodgers makes them look great. I’m not sure how much man coverage Rodgers has seen this year ,if any. It may just be the look he hasn’t seen that wins this game for us . Just a thought. R.F.F.R.

We need to play minimal zone...we need to play tight man to man and bump and run

Disrupting the WRs at the line will be key to getting the DL enough time to get to Rodgers. We need to be able to generate pressure with the front 4 as much as possible.

We knew going in that he's no Zach Miller ...

But TBH I’ve been pleasantly surprised overall w/Boss’s pass-catching ability, esp. given how many times I heard at the beginning of the season that he’s no Zach in that regard. The Miami game was the first time I recall seeing him totally whiff on an easily catchable ball (or two).

Granted the two misses happened on an absolutely pivotal drive, at least one of the two was a ball he HAD to catch … but that aside, he’s actually made some tough, nice catches this year.

I’m definitely not going to start calling him ‘old stone hands’ or nothing like that based on what I’ve seen. Yeah, he’s no Gates or Gronk, but he’s decent, and a good blocker, so … I hope they go back to him this week and give him a shot at redemption.

Thing about GB’s receivers … maybe none of them are ‘HOF Great’ in their own right, but … they are ALL very good receivers. I’d rather have four very good guys than one HOF’er and three average dudes, any day.

The matchup problems created when there’s four big, strong, reliable-handed receivers (including Finley) that can all run routes, along w/a QB having a HoF-caliber year … it’s the stuff of nightmares.

I’m fully expecting us to be constantly sitting there shaking our heads going ‘how the HELL did he get SO OPEN?!?’ in the game thread. It’ll be because we can’t even begin to double-team all 4 of their very good receivers. Considering that the one possible equalizer, our D-Line, is banged up as all hell … I’m basically expecting us to get blown out in this game, with Panda’s squad ending up looking every bit like the Keystone Kops they did last week.

Fortunately, losing this one in all likelihood isn’t going to change our odds of getting in to the playoffs much, esp. if Denver somehow loses.

Go look at Zach's stats this year

I’m saying now that Zach Miller is no Kevin Boss.

Has Tarvaris Jackson throwing to him.

Ford and Moore are at practice but very limited

DMC is out which rules him out for sure.

yeah i saw that too

i think theyll (ford & moore) end up playing

by yaboyrafa on Dec 9, 2011 11:33 AM PST up reply actions

so seeing how DMC

Was said to have a level 1 “mid foot sprain” and ache healing time is about 2-3 weeks and DMC has been out for half the season..is DMC a slow healer, a sissy, or did the trainers mis diagnose, OR is it an injury that they wanted to cover up? Or could it be all of the above…I’m TIRED of hoping he comes back this week or the next…why even mention his name anymore….idk I’m just REALLLY frustrated

by aToomb Raider on Dec 9, 2011 1:23 PM PST via mobile reply actions

What I find frustrating is that in the game McFadden injured his foot (KC)

he returned to the sideline and looked like he was ready to go back into the game.
Perhaps if he had been treated like it was a serious injury from the start it would n’t have taken this long to heal. What is the deal with all the foot injuries? Are they doing some dopey warm up or drill that F’s up their feet? One of the commentators mentioned that DMC has a metal plate in his foot, but I’ve seen no mention of that on the internet.

I am no conspiracy theoris but

The way I see it is that something shady is going on here. Could it be that the Raiders do not want to make the playoffs because of the trade for Palmer and having to give away another first round pick if we do? I have to think that is what’s happening because of only McFadden. Or is it that Hue wants a completely. healthy team come playoffs. I used to think the latter, but am Beyonce to believe my conspiracy. Oh well go Raiders.

These foot injuries are too much of a coincidence. I'd expect some forensics on the way trainers are taping, the shoe design,

or some new skill position conditioning method. I didn’t see contact as the cause of DMC’s or Jones’ foot injuries. Moore’s may have been contact related.

Have the coaches thrown in the towell?

With such a promising season shot to hell with Jason’s broken collor bone, the Raiders had to give up the future for a veteran that could take us to the promise land. The guaranteed first round pick with the stipulated possible year after first round pick if the Raiders make the playoffs has me thinking that the Raiders don’t want to make the playoffs. Run DMC’S foot injury is possible proof of this. He should have been back weeks ago according to the type of injury, but still no sign of possible return. Either Hue wants a tottaly healthy team come playoff time or he didn’t want to even make the playoffs or Mark Davis has fully taken over from his dad. Whatever the case, we the fans are being screwed and strung along with not being able to see what this team can really do if healthy

by infinateraiderfan on Dec 10, 2011 5:52 AM PST via mobile reply actions

the condition for the pick is a championship win

not just a playoff appearance. This is a silly theory that has no bearing in truth, whatsoever, I’m sure.

What I conclude is that stemming from the lockout, the lack of training has hurt our team in remarkable ways.

I think it is also telling of our physical health trainers. The Raiders have consistently had far more players hurt that practically every team we have met so far. Such an anomaly exposes the ability of the trainers and I believe that this is another area that we have to work on over the upcoming offseason – actually, it is an issue that should be looked at immediately.

by RaiderPsycho on Dec 10, 2011 3:00 PM PST reply actions

I think there is some truth to that , and also the physical way in which we play and practice

but the foot injuries recurring has to have something significant happening/not happening besides how badly the offseason nonsense compounded injuries.

All out

Mcfadden, Moore, Ford. All out!!!!! WTF??
McFadden has been out or wayyyy too long e this fuckin injury. Either he is hurt a lot worse than they want to tell us or for whatever reason they are keeping him out. We need him and the rest of our playmakers more than ever. Toughen up and get your asses out there. All of you. Go look at big Ben hobbling his ass all over the field and STILL playing!!
