Raiders hire Rod Woodson as defensive backs coach
This 11-time Pro Bowler & 6-time First-Team All-Pro who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2009, will help take us from 2nd best pass defense to 1st.
This is another very good move by Al & Hue.

Love this move
And as I said earlier, elsewhere, I think it shows other players that it isn’t the same jokey Raiders anymore. We have an intent now and a foundation to lay great things.
Kick their ass and take their stuff!

I feel so good about this coaching staff
I hope the FA, Draft and player movement goes as well as our coaching staff this is good. REAL good

Rod will instill the Ball-Hawk mentality we are lacking. Even at 37-years old, Woodson led the NFL in interceptions
He had 8 of them during our 2002 season when he helped us get to the SB.

Rod Woodson was a solid football player and a leader on the field. I’m sure all of those qualities will translate well in his coaching.

tooooooo sweeeeeeeeeet
its nice to see some of these great players coming in as coaches for this team
actually i’m kinda surprised they pulled Rod away from the nfl network, unless his time was up
This excites me to the core
Another amazing move that will propel us to another level.
Way to go Al, Hue, and company. Familiar faces that move us ever so closer to where we once belonged.

makes you think, Tim Brown to be WR"s advisor/coach??

Maybe not this year but with time this can be a good thing; adding Tim Brown

Woodson-Nnamdi Have A Conection So He Will be Back In Our Secondary Soon!!!
Woodson has remained in the Bay Area since his retirement, with a home in Pleasanton. It was at his home where cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha went to watch film with Woodson and pick up knowledges and nuances about the game. Asomugha has credited Woodson for helping with his confidence and skill set, and having him on staff can only help if the Raiders make a competitive offer during his upcoming free agency,
This is the best move
I’ve seen from the front office.
He is absolutely the smartest player I’ve ever seen play the game.
I'm with you there

Nnamdi sure
but what about the effect hes gonna have on mike huff?!(assuming we keep him) if rod could get that same awareness instilled in mike like he had, we’re lookin at top ten in the league in the turnover battle.
Well, if you figure
that Huff made 2nd team all pro this last year, this may help him get to 1st team this year.
As it stands, he had 3 interceptions and 3 forced fumbles last year.
I don’t see us getting rid of him.
Great move
This will likely make Nnamdi want to stay foresure, and hopefully he gets our secondary to shut guys down and fly all over and make plays.
YES!
I’m so happy to hear this. Rod is the one that Taught Nnamdi originally, and now he’s back to help everyone learn how to MAN COVER.
This Coaching Staff is becoming one of the BEST coaching Staffs in YEARS.

Al knows what he's doing
People were getting all over him for letting Cable go, but now he’s potentially creating an awesome coaching staff. Jackson knows his stuff and he is a fiery guy who got the offense going last year, and now we bring in Saunders, who is one of the brightest offensive minds in all of football, Wisniewski, who is one of the greatest o-linemen to play the game, Biekert, who was a tough son of a gun at linebacker, Bresnahan, who is not a great d coordinator but a good assistant, Woodson, who was one of the smartest defensive players and one of the greatest defensive players of all time, and hopefully we get Moss or Perry at DC to round out our potentially awesome coaching staff.
Now lets get Tim Brown
And Lincoln Kennedy :)
I think its a move to get Aso back

DC
Same question here ,I agree with you raiderrob. There is no doubt in my mind that whoever is chosen to be our “dc” could possibly be the one to take either the blame or the credit on how far this team goes next season, uncle AL will have to be a little careful with this one.
GO RAIDERS!!!!
Amen!

great quote
“It’s an honor to be back with the Raiders and be able to talk to Raider players about true football,” Woodson said in a statement released by the team. “I’m looking forward to working with the organization and the challenges of the 2011 season.”

Raider reunion 2011! Hall of famers always welcome!
But, as we like to say, once a Raider, always a Raider, so if you share the vision for our future that we do here at SBP, we accept you eagerly, and with open arms.

Very good move here!
Respectability, toughness, great work ethic and can coach I am certain. Nice job Al, glad to see the ephedrine I sent to him is working on waking him up before 2pm.

Awesome! I’m happy with this! Rod is a beast and hopefully he’ll rub off on our players!
Bring me a shrubbery!
Right, we lacked leadership last year - didn't get too much from the coaching (only Waufle & Hue) and only from a couple of players
Now we’ve got leaders coming at us from all directions! in the form of coaches. Let’s nail a 1st rate DC and get on with the Draft!

Great Hire!
I really like the direction our coaching hires have gone this year. Loved Rod Woodson as a player and I think he will be a great coach. I will miss him on NFL network.

Ha ha!
Me too. I’ll have to follow what leaks from the locker room, that much more closely now.

Nobody on here disagrees with this hire.
I like it for one reason. It pisses Stealer fans off. I dig that.
