I for one, was happy to see the return of Rock Cartwright and what he brought to the Raiders in leadership and also his special teams play. Cartwright, 31, was elected by his teammates as totally worthy of the Commitment to Excellence Award in his first year with the Raiders. Prior to that he had 8 seasons in the pitiful swamp known as the Washington Redskins, and living in Redskin country, I can attest to just how miserable a crowd their fan base is.. Rock had,on special teams 17 tackles, blocked a punt, recovered a fumble and returned six kickoffs for 103 yards. He also carried the ball nine times for 22 yards and caught a pass for a 10-yard gain.
Oakland needed a solid, mature and proven leader and if his teammates voted for him to have this award, then they obviously know way more about Rock then we see outside the locker room.
