Ok , due to enormous public outcry , and the dismay of head coaches around the league , Rich McKay announced today that 2A was passed this morning , with one change, touch backs will remain at the 20 , just to be sure there is absolutely no incentive to actually kick to the returner .

Here's an idea give the running back  a 10 yard head start , make the defense count to 10 , then if anybody stops the ball carrier , fine and suspend him, no one will get hurt that way.Isn't  that basketball ? Oh wait how about " no running on the field " someone could pull a hammy or turn an ankle.

  No more sudden death , no more kick returns , next on his list , no launching yourself into another player , even if he catches the ball has both feet on the ground ,you will now have to wait till he gets the ball safely tucked away and properly situates himself before you can tackle him.

  With the announcement of the rule, which will be voted on in 60 days , came the comments that now that the players have been put on notice habitual offenders of playing defense will start  missing  games . If a defensive player gets a sack , tackle for a loss , or forces a fumble , breaks up a pass , the defense will be penalized , and the player will be fined and suspended . 

  You would think the NFLwould learn from the mistakes of other sports that have decided to make wholesale changes to their game to enhance scoring while in the middle of a work stoppage . The NHL disappeared onto obscurity after loosing the real fans while trying to attract people who never cared about the game. The NBA banned defense and now is nothing more than 7' men getting a running start from half court and trying to shove the ball in the hole . 

Offense for the sake of offense , whats exciting about that , without defense,offense means nothing ,Offense just becomes that annoying baby brother who can do whatever he wants , and if big brother lays a finger on him ,goes crying to mommy and gets his way.

  It's a sad day when Americans may be forced to watch Canadian football if they want to see someone actually get tackled.

  I understand the need to improve player safety but how about investing in  developing new equipment. These guys have been playing with virtually the same equipment they were wearing 30 years ago. We got gel that you can put over an egg , hit it with a 5lb baby sledge hammer and the egg wont break , why not limit concussions by improving saftey equipment instead killing the game.
