Al Davis went above and beyond to get his team leaders signed before the deadline . While other teams around the league closed the checkbook , and have criticized Al for breaking ranks . Al took care of the men he sees as the leaders of this team .
I believe now is the time for our leaders to stand and be counted . Now is the time for them to show Al he was right about them , now is the time to show the Oakland fans it is a new day in the black hole , and show us what this team can look like when being lead by men like Seymour , and Henderson , instead of Moss and Sapp , time to show us what character and about a hundred million dollars get you in the NFL these days , and if Campbell wants to establish himself as the leader of this team , what better time than now .
Ok , to the point . I've been reading allot about teams scheduling player run workouts , teams like Miami and several others seem to be prepared to show their fans , that though they may not be able to go about business as usual, they are dedicated to moving on with off season preparation with or without the coaches and team facilities .
What better way to show your fans you are still committed to them, and it seems to me ,the clubs who have the leaders that can pull your guys together and prepare for the season on their own, are going to have a humongous advantage over teams that don't prepare until camps open. You saw what team unity did for Washington in the last cba shortened season .
If you really think about it , the Raiders should have an advantage this off season . Our offense and defense are installed , they have the playbook. Unlike several other teams who have installed new head coaches , replaced coordinators , and are unable to even get their players the playbook to study , Our guys know the system.
Our core players are under contract , they don't have to wait and see whether their gonna be a Raider or not .
So I'm calling on our team leaders to lead , Seymour , Campbell , Henderson , Wimbley , and the rest , time to show the nation what we've been missing for nearly half a decade , leadership . If our leaders step up right now , we may have our best shot at (yes I said it) a Superbowl run . We are one of the few teams in a position to hit the ground running , and be one of the best prepared teams in the league for a change .
Time to show the players are as dedicated to us , as we are to them , and dedicated to the team , not just the paycheck .
