As I listen to the commentators of ESPN and the NFL network mock Al Davis , and the Oakland Raiders as if they are the joke of drat day . While showering praise upon Belichick , and anointing him a "draft guru" . I say look at the facts .
Since 2008 the Patriots have drafted 31 players , 5 starters , 14 backups , 12 no longer on their roster . Almost half their picks have failed to even make the roster over the last three years .
By comparison in the same three year period , the Raiders have drafted 21 players , have landed 7 starters , 11backups , with only 3 no longer on their roster .
Thats right , despite what the analysts would have you believe , over the last 3 years Alis 18 of 21 with 7 starters , to Belichick's 19 of 31 and 5 starters . Al has only missed on 3 players in 3 years , Belicheck has missed on 12 , and Al has 2 more starters .
Quantity does not make for quality , Oakland has landed more starters , just as many roster players as the Pats , with 10 less picks , and added Richard Seymour in the process . So before the NFL Network and ESPN plant their lips firmly on Belichicks backside and pucker up , mocking Oakland while Mike Mayock yells hieght ! weight ! speed ! every time Oakland's on the clock , just remenber the numbers tell a very different story .
