TCU G/T Marcus Cannon Diagnosed With Lymphoma
As previously reported and discussed on Silver and Black Pride here, Marcus Cannon had previously been diagnosed with a mass in his stomach/groin area, which ended up not being testicular cancer based on a biopsy. Unfortunately, however, the biopsy did confirm that Cannon has a treatable form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma and will require chemotherapy. According to the PFT story, the prognosis sounds promising and doctors are "hopeful" that Cannon can continue his football career after 12 to 24 weeks of chemotherapy.
The football-related ramifications of this news aside, I think I can speak on behalf of all of Silver and Black Pride when I say that we hope for a successful and speedy recovery for Marcus Cannon.

Cannon has a clear fan base
with the Nation. Health has to be be number 1; we all hope that he treats it, takes his time to properly heal, and come back stronger than ever. If he drops in the draft, it’ll tremendously hurt his pay out but it’s insignificant if he doesn’t have his health. Just come back and make every team pay for not drafting you.
Cannon will plummet - we should take him, but later than planned

I really want us to make sure we get Kaep or Locker
I know absolutely nothing about this guy but if he is fast I say sign him up.
That's what She-Will Said.
I think it's about time we all just agreed that NaS is the greatest of all-time.

I'm convinced he will be great
I think a lot if his issues are due to system and he is labelled inaccurate because nobody was ever open for him and he was throwing in to coverage and running for his life behind a shitty O-Line.
I honestly think he may prove to be the best QB in the draft and I like him and Kaep more than Newton and Gabbert by far, I also like Dalton and if we can get one of those guys I think we should do it.

This really sucks for Cannon.
I am guessing he was without medical coverage. Coverage he will have after he is drafted, but probably won’t cover this do to it being a pre-existing condition. I hope I am wrong about these details, but that means Cannon just went from signing a contract worth millions to being a million in debt, and likely signing a contract worth considerably less.

he may have mandatory coverage at TCU
as most schools need you to have some kind of coverage. I hope that he can get his treatment on campus/medical school. It would be dubious to dump one of your students in need.

Best of luck Cannon with your chemo...
I still want him as a Raider. If he ends up not being one, I hope he has a long healthy career.
+1

hope we can still grab him
In the third. His stock will drop, but not any further than that. Chemo is harsh, good luck Mr. Cannon the nation is pulling for ya.

realistically,
if they’re saying 18 to 24 weeks (6 months) of chemo, than you need to rebuild your muscles and strength, no way he’s ready to play this year. He’s a pick to you place as unable to play, treat him and let him heal for this year with a view for next year. Will he come back and to what level? That additional risk places him as a 5th to 6th rd material knowing that he’s not playing this year. We’re talking chemo not having a charlie horse.
