Memorial Day Weekend Open BBQ Thread
Right now, as I type, I have a fridge full of meat waiting to meet a flame. Now, I just have to get the weather to cooperate. It is cloudy with off and showers in my northwest hood right now. I am holding out hope that the fickle nature of spring time in Seattle will prevail and the weather will soon switch. Otherwise, I will exercise my freedom to by a crazed meat eating lunatic and BBQ in the rain.
I don't have anything fancy on the menu. Just some steaks, burgers and dogs. I'll save more creative and prepared BBQs for days when I am not worried about dodging rain drops. I do have my own steak seasoning rub almost dialed into perfection though: Sea Salt, Pepper, Garlic Powder, Paprika, Onion Powder, Dill Weed and Cayenne. It is simple yet awesome. And that brings me to the point of this thread—talking BBQ
Anyone else hitting the grills today or tomorrow? What are your favorite BBQ recipes or seasonings? Are you a dry rub or a marinade person?
Most importantly, I want to thank anyone who has been brave enough to serve in the military that has allowed me the freedom to cook meat on fire whenever the hell I feel like it.

Thanks to the troops who serve and who have, and in memorial to our fallen...
I use the same rub, but will trynthe dill in addition. I also add white and black pepper. I’ll add brown sugar for cuts like tri-tip, and of course use mesquite and applewood smoke too.
Enjoy your meat, folks! And express gratitude that we can grill in honor of this great day by grilling! And enjoying frosty beverages, rain or shine.
