I Believe That Nnamdi Asomugha Wanted Out Of Oakland
The first thing that came to my mind after seeing that Nnamdi Asomugha signed for 12 million dollars a year to play in Philly was, "Routt is making 10?". Then I thought, hold on, Nnamdi voided a HUGE deal to become a free agent and then signed for millions less to go to a team that has a better track record over the past 6 years, the Eagles, because he sees them as having a chance to win it all.
I believe that Nnamdi made his intentions quite clear and the Raiders acted accordingly by signing Routt and drafting more possible replacements. Remember, Nnamdi was not much of an elite prospect when Al drafted him and moved him to corner. In short, AL went to work to re-tool his team without #21.(Funny sidenote, 4 of the Top 10 corners on the market, Nnamdi, Carr, Buchanon and Fabian, were all drafted by Al.)
Nnamdi, said that he wanted to play for a winner, and I think that he just left a winner that he knew for a winner that he doesn't know.
I don't hate Nnamdi for leaving Oakland and I appreciate all that he did while he was here. I mean, heck, if it weren't for him, there would have been ZERO good stories to come out of Oakland for a four year period. But, what I have done, is moved on. I don't root for or miss players that want out of Oakland. To Nnamdi, I say, "Good luck in Philly and I hope that Jacoby burns your ass in the Super Bowl".
What are your sentiments Raider Nation?

I wish nnamdi personal success
but I will not be rooting for the philly “dream team”
(look up vince youngs latest comments, doesn’t sound like a guy who just wants to come in, work hard, build up his reputation to me)
that’s my last word on nnamdi, he wanted out, he’s out, fuckim (i mean that last word in the nice way, but fuckim nonetheless, he is not a raider)

thats what i been sayin since the season ended , but also al wasnot willing to overpay to keep him , which is not a bad thing , weve over paid for too many guys in the past and it hurts us
were a good team and are better off with players who want to be the answer , who want to be raiders , rather that be the rich kid who has to buy their freinds , there are plenty of guys who want to take us to the next level
Yup, that's how I see it too. What makes me bitter though is his lack of faith in the direction we've been moving since
Bruce sparked the Return to Excellence in the ‘09 Cincinnati and Pittsburgh games … that we don’t have a real shot in the near future. Maybe he doesn’t like Hue or Seymour getting major love and respect that dwarfs him by comparison. Still scratching my head that he bailed just when we are really moving in the right direction.

That's what bothers me the most, too, S-O-B...
He was almost singlehandedly the one bright spot during the dark years. He stuck it out and didn’t ever complain, which in this day and age is pretty much unheard of. Why not keep riding that wave when the days they are a-changin’? You’d be part of the change! And you’d look all ten-feet-tall-and-bulletproof to the fans and other players because you stuck it out. Because you believed. I know that sounds all Homery and romantic, but damn! Why work that hard to make a team look good and then walk when the rest of the team starts looking like they’re syncing up with you and going to make a serious run at The Commitment again? It’s almost as if he was just trying to make himself look good while he bided his time and collected an obscene amount of money from the Old Man…
He had me fooled. I really thought in the end he’d still be here. One of the few, I guess. Oh, well.
But now that he’s gone the blinders are off. I hope we get to the SB and win a ring or three without him. And fuck that “I wish you much success, Nnamdi” BS. I hope the Eagles keep being the chokers they’ve always been for the rest of his playing days. You could have worn silver and black your whole career, Nam. But in the end you just went all green around the edges. Thpth!

SOB are you serious turning your back that quick
I am not mad Nnamdi he is gone. He played for us for eight years we never built anything. We went 8-8 last year. This year we don’t have a TE, FS, any improvement at OLB, Our Oline is still not proving, no improvement at WR. All of these things are because Al always over pay players. When he gave Hall that huge contract he could have lock Nnamdi down for 8 years no lets give it to a guy who isn’t even proven in our system. AL knew last year should have signed Zach but no lets give Routt a big contract because he improved even when Zach has be really good since he got on this team. I see us going 5-11 we had a poor Draft he didn’t get anyone that is going to win games right away. Our passing game is depend on a group of guys who have never caught over 40 ball in a season. This isn’t building a bully Hue has the right frame of mind but he does all the right coaches. Does anyone here think our DC is even a top 20 DC in football ? No I am so sick of everone talking like our defense lead us to the superbowl. I really think Nnamdi left because he wanted to win and go to the HOF and those are two things that want happen until we get a GM and a DC.

Why do you guys never blame AL Davis
I am just wondering. No matter how dumb of a deal we do AL is never at fault. Now everyone is saying he is greedy. SOB every player that goes to a teams says I always wanted to be there. Albert said the same crap when the Redskins signed him. Al shouldn’t be the teams GM anymore bottom line. how can we be over the cap with an 8-8 team. That is on the GM. Seymour wouldn’t have gotten that contract any with the Pats but Al says okay. Tommy Kelly AL says Okay. We have a poor developing program in oakland because we have been hiring the wrong Coaches who hires all our AL Davis. I am not putting our new coaches down but must of them have never coached being good at a position doesn’t mean you can coach it. We will be lucky to go 8-8 this season with all the loses this off season.

Al gets his fair share, e.g. "-". But, even JaMarcus (there, I've invoked his name) had almost everyone, including
coaches and pundits, bedazzled. Al has taken a lot of heat. But this time, with Nnamdi, No, that doesn’t go against Al Davis – that’s all Asomugooga who wanted to go to Philadelphia (of all places). right where you placed it (and it’s at zero now). And that attitude you endorse would expose as someone who didn’t play a major part in the Raider Renaissance, taking no pride in it or believing in it – being merely a passive guy on the roster doing his job but not investing himself in the culture.

Meh.
I feel like that’s an accurate way to describe Nnamdi. Nnamdi never acted like a Raider, he acted like a Nnamdi. I feel like there’s a certain gusto that comes with being a true Oakland Raider. Guys like Tim Brown had it. You knew it when you saw it. I never saw that in Nnamdi, but I don’t hate him for that. I’m not bitter, and I appreciate the time he spent here. I can’t fault him for wanting to play for a team that has a more stable environment. It sucks for us, obviously, and I would have loved for him to stick around. I’m not surprised and I’m not angry about it, though.

kind of leaves a bad taste in my mouth. No need to slap the faces of your past teammates by saying such a comment. Theres no guarantee he will have a winning season just because of the past success of the Eagles. Farewell Nnamdi, we will be just fine without you

Jerry Mac said that Nnamdi leaving was a "conscious decision"
it’s become pretty clear that there was no way in hell that we could re-sign Zach, Bush AND Nam.
Nnam was the sacrifice that will enable us to sign these guys and Gaither sounds logical to me.
It would be great to be in a fantasy world where we get everything we want but unfortunately that is not the case, it’s time to get over it and realise the decisions made were in the best interests of the team.
The best thing about it is that Nnam made the media look like frikken morons – now thats Raider.

They have 3 playmakers a Corner. You can’t beat them So corners do win big game if you have a real DC. Al keeps hiring DC that call single high man to man. YOu don’t really need DC for that. I believe if we had a Better DC last season we would have been in the playoff.

No way we are going to the super bowl
We don’t WR’s the Oline or the DC on defense. I am a Raiders to the Heart but how have we improved enough to beat teams like the Jets, Pats, Colts, and Steelers. We aren’t even on those teams level and the superbowl goes through them. I am not mad at Nnamdi this same thing with Charles Woodson. Woodson is a HOF now he wouldn’t have been if he stayed in Oakland. Because Man to man single high won’t get you there. We need an up grade at OLB, we need to improve our Oline, We need a Vet WR, Jason has to step up, Our Defense has to stop the run. We have so many holes and on top of that we are going to lose zach miller.
Nnamdi told his agent that he always wanted to be an Eagle so get a deal done.
He also told that to the Eagles. Go to Espn and check out the video on Nnamdi’s reasoning. Makes me want to puke. Freakin trader.

PROBLEM WITH YOUR STANCE
There is one major flaw in your argument. Nnamdi didn’t void his contract, the team did, based on certain incentives that weren’t reached.
I think that, regarding this situation (which is all about money), I as a fan hoped for one of 2 things: either give it to Nnamdi (who deserved it), or let him go, and maximize that money by signing 2-3 guys that will make an immediate impact. So far, the team hasn’t made a big splash, nor have they even been mentioned in relation to anything exciting. That’s pretty disappointing. But, I do have to say that, if he’s healthy, the signing of Jared Gaither is an uspectacular but solid/great signing.
(BTW, did they actually sign Gaither? I know it was pending his physical, which is a big deal since he missed all of last season with the Ravens with a back injury.)

Thank You
Al Davis over paid him them wanted him to take less for the same job. Really who would do that. If we didn’t play so much man coverage we wouldn’t have to pay so much. We didn’t find any one to improve our team. Derrick Mason would improve our young WR’s. Because Zach miller is gone he was our passing game.
Got a problem with your stance
Nnamdi signed a contract with a voidable contingency condition. Therefore,it was in his own hands more than “the team”
As a fan of Oakland? Sounds more like you’re a fan of Nnamdi first and the Raiders second. Enjoy the Phili games this year.

He is at fault for the Down fall of this team. Everyone gives him credit for last years team, but forget he traded john Gruden, made Marcus Allen sit on the bench, Looked past Tim Brown when he tried to help our WR’s. The list goes on.
Bottom line the NFL
is a business First Everyone knows you have to hire the right people in order for your business to grow. I am not sure we have the right Staff top to bottom. All the teams that are winning have a system that works. We have some pieces in Oakland but really need a GM first. We didn’t improve at all this offseason and we haven’t picked up any free agents. We have gotten worse on paper. How can people come out and say we are going to the playoffs.
Time out. Most agreed that the OL was the biggest weakness (though I had our LB corps a close 2nd) and we addressed
that with our 1st and 3rd draft picks. I agree that the LB situation is scary. Brown is horrid and Groves is marginal. But Goethel is back and the FA isn’t over yet. Plus, our coaching changes were a huge improvement.
