Well it is back to the drawing board in the 2011 Oakland Raiders free agents search. Jared Gaither will not be the Raiders newest member. John Clayton tweeted the news earlier Saturday. It is a disappointing turn of events. There has been no statement on the issue but it would seem likely that Gaither was not able to pass his physical.
Friday there were reports that Gaither had inked a deal. There reports were later retracted and Hue Jackson told us all that Mr. Gaither had to meet with the team doctors before they were going to sign off on the giant tackle.
In the same tweet, Clayton announced that the Raiders had re-signed Khalif Barnes. Clayton said they re-signed him to be the right tackle. That is not the most reassuring feeling given the Raiders struggles at right tackle the past couple of years and Barnes inability to crack the lineup.
Vittorio Tafur tweeted that Langston Walker was still on the back burner. That statement would indicate that someone is on the front burner, but I have no idea who that would be. There are few offensive tackles left in free agency.
