Raiders' Bruce Campbell is Back in Action
Bruce Campbell has been sidelined all training camp with an injury the Raiders had not surprisingly shed little insight on. Campbell took the practice field for the first time on Saturday, and he took it upon himself to let the world know about his injury. Apparently he hurt his knee sometime in the offseason. It was not bad enough that it required surgery. That's the good news. The bad news is that he has missed a load of practice time. Campbell talked about this with Steve Corkran. Campbell:
"It’s pretty tough because it seems like you’re missing out on a lot, you’re missing out on opportunity. But you can’t have that mind-set going into it. I’m just like, ‘Hey. this is what happened to me. I just have to make up for it.’"
Campbell went onto say that he wasn't sure if he would get reps at guard, tackle or both. My guess is that he is going to be spending most of his time at guard. I have serious doubts that Campbell will be able to put his immense talents together enough that he will win the starting the job, but I am glad he will at least now be on the field to try.

I'm not sure I have seen him take a snap
If so I don’t even recall it I wanna see him play we don’t have anyone dominating the right side…
He'll probably get a nod at starter
due to injury at some point

I have to see how he does in pre-season before making a final judgement.
I’ll take 11 players with heart on the field over 11 guys with just talent. Talent is fleeting, it goes away over time. Heart is what drives you to be better. To push yourself beyond what you think your capabilities are. To show us that when you strive, all things are possible.- SMP
If he does well and does end up starting....
Then our last 2 drafts were a success because we’re drafting players that are stepping in and making an impact.
YES!!!! That's what I have been pimping. Just think if the next draft turns out to be as successful.
The Raiders will be truly getting in tune with the bullying Raiders of old and I believe is the key ingredient to become the tough champions that they were! Bring it on man!

He is very fast for his size, and strong as well
In what I’ve seen has the will to work and desire to play, would be a shame to not see this guy get a shot at guard at some point. He “has the potential” to be a hell of a lead blocker as a pulling gaurd. Outside of that… His name is F**kin’ Bruce Campbell! “Hail to the King, Baby!”
I cant wait to see him bust out his "BOOMSTICK!!"
That sounds bad but any Army of Darkness fans will know what I mean!

I believe that with the right coaching, he can play anywhere on the line with the probable exception of center
He played at tackle in college so he has experience and that is the position he actually wants to play. Surely he could be as fast as Veldheer at LT and has a bigger arm-wing span than him. He said that from the experience he has had practicing at RG that he was surprised he could pass-rush well. Now, I know I am just speculating because we have not really had a chance to see him play a la Cable. But everyone has noted his beastly physical abilities, which could make him one of the best lineman in football. At this time, the only question I have pertains to his football smarts and if he could actually learn those positions at the pro level. Can’t know if he’s never played.

Correction: meant to say run-block, not pass-rush.

I might have overestimated BC's arm length.
I know Veldeer’s arm length is 33 inches. When I tried to check BC’s arm length I couldn’t find the measurements if someone can check that.

I used to be down on Cooper too, but he's playing decent ball now and does open holes for our RBs.

From all accounts been one of the most impressive lineman so far and his experience will be invaluable this year
"Anytime you have an organization and an owner that wants to win as badly as Al Davis wants to win, and will spend the money to win, I don’t think you have as many barriers as you think. Those are easy. The ones that would be tough is where you didn’t have any good players and you had an owner or an organization that didn’t want to spend any money to get good players." - John Madden, 2008

With all the young guys filling the roster on the O-line
experience certainly is a commodity, which was why I was happy to see Satele back. Even with his limitations, will be easier to bring Wisnewski in as a guard.
"I’m back to my first love – the Oakland Raiders and working with the Offensive Line. I’m a Raider for life." -- Steve Wisniewski
The Time is Now
If BC didn’t play last year under Cable, it was because of the blocking system ( zone ) now that the Raiders are in a power blocking system, Campbell will be in his eliment .
He is a Big , Strong , Fast , and Athletic player that could help make this Offensive Line Great for many years to come…….. You got to put him in, and let him show what he’s got
Easy Answer
Injuries alone will make him a starter in at least one game. I want to see him pancake a LB like he did the dummy at the combine…
I like the idea of pulling a huge fast guy like bruce from guard on some outside runs
bringing back the days of Gene

Taylor Mays.....NOOOOOOOO
I’m usually big on USC guys, I regret to inform you that Mays is no where close to the kind of player we need, his cover skills are none, what else is there to say???
GO RAIDERS!!!
He probably would have done alright 10 years or so ago.
The game has changed too much.

He was a lb in college an struggled with conversion to DE
Might be a cheap high upside player worth a shot at OLB. Like a reverse Jarvis Moss

you're mistaken
he was a 4-3 DE at Penn State, and struggled in his conversion to a 3-4 OLB in Buffalo.
He is another Jarvis Moss. But skinnier.

I want to see him
used as a fullback or TE for short yardage plays. Kinda like the Fridge for the 85 Bears.
"In football, I root for the Oakland Raiders because they hire castoffs, outlaws, malcontents, and fuck -ups, they have lots of penalties, fights, and paybacks, and because Al Davis told the rest of the pig NFL owners to go get fucked. Someday, the Raiders will be strong again, and they will dip the ball in shit and shove it down the throats of the wholesome, white, heartland teams that pray together and don't deliver late hits." - George Carlin.
Good to hear we'll finally get to see him take some snaps on the line
after which, I’ll have plenty of critiquing to do on his game.

How can you say anything about him when he was shelved the whole year I don’t remember even a preseason snap last year… I am getting older… LOL
Is the 2112 in reference to Rush?

Now, for these Raiders to emulate the Tom Sawyer, made famous in the song.

I saw Rush live at the Whiskey-A-Go-Go in Hollywood when they went on their first tour.
They were the backup band to the Butts Brothers Band, which was the Doors without Jim Morrison after Morrison died. Rush put on a fantastic show.

Wow. What a great venue to see them
Never was there a three man band to create such a rich, layered, and faceted sound as them. I’ve seen Rush multiple times, but it’s times like these, I feel cheated out of participating in that era. Soooo jealous of that.
Hollywood venues make it seem so surreal.

If he's healthy
He’s had some knee issues last year I believe but I think he was a pro bowler in 2009 so he’s definitely worth taking a peak at.

Grab Stinch, Bring in Aaron Maybin for possible WLB cause Sam Morrison was horrible. Let him and Tatupu sharpen some iron together. Best man sticks. More food for thought, its still early in the season. Guys will be cut. Their guys, our guys. I just have this feeling that our F/A signing period isnt quite over.
