As training camps and preseason games progress I'm scratching my head as to why the Oakland front office is procrastinating when it comes to bringing in a little help . There are holes that are in desperate need of being filled , there are players available at almost every position , some at bargain prices , yet no movement on the part of the Oakland front office .
My original assumption was that with all the picks we have given up in next years draft maybe they were trying to hang on to those compensatory picks we are in line for after the losses we suffered in free agency . Oakland has already forgone some of those picks by signing some free agents , and if I'm not mistaken we have one third rounder still coming to us . As things stand with no compensatory picks we will pick in the first round then wait till round five . Unless we were to adopt the Patriots draft philosophy and trade back accumulating more picks .
That said , the losses suffered in recent weeks , including the blow our linebacking core took this weekend with the loss of Goethel , leaves Oakland little choice but dip back into the free agencey market . So if Oakland must go shopping why not do it right ?
Oakland needs a RT , at least one , if not two linebackers , and could use a little help in the secondary . So why not fill the holes with players like Lofa Tatupu , Jon stinchcomb or AndreSmith . Possibly add maybe Kelvin Hayden to our secondary , trade back in the first round and accumulate more picks that way ? It's a long season ahead of us , we are dangerously thin at multiple positions , and so far none of our draft picks seem to be prepared to take on a starting role , which is surprising . On a offensive line so painfully thin even the young Wisneiwski , our top pick , has not worked his way into the starting lineup .
Time to go get some help for our men to give them the chance to build on the resurgence of last year .
