Kevin Boss To Meet The Press At 1:30 PST In Napa:

Last night, as I was soaking in the events of the past few days, I received an email from the Oakland Raiders and they invited us down to the Kevin Boss Press Conference at 1:30 today. So, with a nod from my approving wife (Who can go into labor at any time), I will be returning to Napa for day 4 in a row.

This will be my first time covering a press conference of this magnitude, and I would like to know if there are any questions that our community is begging to ask Mr. Boss.

If you have a question or a take that you'd like for me to get covered, please post it here and I will check in before the press conference.

Be sure and get the questions in by 1:15, because that will be the last time that I will have a chance to check in here.

As usual, you can follow us on Twitter @silverandblackp to get instant updates.

Cheers,

Saint

Glad you're gonna see this press conference!

If you could, ask him if he feels like he is one of the better blocking tight ends in the league?

Congrats on the pending little Saint

This is at least the second kid you have had since I started reading this blog. You do know what causes these pregnancies right?lol

Mr. Boss Man

What was his first impression of Hue Jackson?
Since Oregon doesn’t have a pro team what was his favorite team as a kid or what player(s) did he watch.

by samiam2112 on Aug 6, 2011 10:34 AM PDT reply actions

A Few

1. what are his expectations for this season? and how do they differ from last season at this point and time?

2. What was the it factor that brought him to Oak town and not stay with the Giants?

3. Is he excited to be “The Boss” in the black hole

Success is not measuredby what you accomplish, but by the opposition you have encountered, and the courage with which you have maintained the struggle against overwhelming odds...

My niece is Due today too, Saint. We'll just have to have them hang on a little while longer! Lol

Priorities, y’know? Ask Kevin how he’d compare Hue Jackson with his first impression of Tom Coughlin, por favor.

Give the wife the Nation’s love. You have a soccer team in the making, brotha!

This is awesome! I'm postponing my afternoon plans for this press conference. (More insightful Tweets please)

Please ask Mr. Boss if Hue described his vision for the Raiders, i.e. the Bully Blueprint.

Huge thank you to Mrs. St. Martin.

how about

how do you compare ELi and JAson??? or something of that sort

+1

though it may be too early for him to weigh in on. Also, he may handle it diplomatically. (Still, a good question)

could say

from playing against him while he was in WAsh, what have you seen from film or past similarities between them

No doubt it has had to have some type of influence.

Maybe he drooled over watching Jason target the TEs! lol I think Hue is taking us in a different direction tho, or at least trying.

I wanted to ask this too, but refrained, considering he has barely caught any of his passes yet

this will be a great question going forward. Eli is a largely misunderstood cat himself, but had the ability to pull out bigtime performances in big games. Jason has to prove this still, but he’s instilling confidence in me that he can rise to the occasion.

I can’t wait to finally see him perform, without the caveat of his having been plucked from continuity so many times with coordinator/system changes. He’s already admitted it’s largely the same sitch he’s entering this year, with many of the same guys, with the exception of the line, which is hard to imagine getting worse than last year.

Questions for Kevin Boss

Since Boss is not Miller, meaning in age, hands, speed, and overall skill set (not bad, just different) , in what way does he plan to contribute to the Raiders offense, and what weapons does he feel he brings to the table to win games?

“what weapons does he feel he brings to the table to win games”

by SmashmouthFB on Aug 6, 2011 1:03 PM PDT up reply actions

Might be a tough question to ask him but?

Ask him if he is going to live up to the name on the back of his jersey? tell him his jersey should be selling like hotcakes even before the start of the season and has the chance to be a legend in Oakland playing TE along with Casper, Christensen and Chester as mush as the Raider are notorious for using a TE in the passing game.

Or something pertaining to what I said.

by Captain Chaos on Aug 6, 2011 11:39 AM PDT reply actions

When Asked About Playing For The Raiders He Mentioned The "TE"s Being Involved Allot

Bet he’s already thinking about what his #‘s could look like as a primary receiver rather than the #5 down the list…His production as a “TE” was comparable to Zack’s even though he was so far down the pecking order so I’m thinking he can post Christensen type #’s in this “O” which would be a return to our “O” of the early to mid “80” s which would be great…Those "O"s were stupendous and our "D"s fed off of it…

Raiders Sign WR Chad Jackson

Player Bio

Played in the NFL from ’06 to ’08 with the Patriots, Broncos, and Bills. Spent the last two years in the UFL. Likely signed to replace UDFA Derrick Jones, who unfortunately suffered a torn Achilles the other day in practice. Just camp depth.

I remember he had pretty high hopes coming into the league

I’m not counting on him being more than just camp depth, but it would be cool if we could take a former 1st round talent and help him reach his potential with us.

by duballers23 on Aug 6, 2011 12:16 PM PDT up reply actions

2nd round in '06

36th overall pick in 2006 NFL Draft. Tore his ACL in the ’06 AFC Championship game and struggled to stay in the league ever since.

The triangle numbers are certainly there: 6’1", 220 lbs, 4.32 40-time, etc.

Not a terrible no-risk signing at all.

Just occurred to me (while bathing ... where the muse regularly visits that Barksdale's CI is 2

… This would explains his loafing between plays and comparatively low-rpm’s outside of actual play clock-time. Fortunately, this acquired (2nd nature) disposition can be overcome with attentive attention by himself and his handlers.

Nice Vid!!!...If This Guy Can Be Resurrected We May Have A Real Jewel At "WR"...

This is all coming as a result of Bresnahan’s time in the UFL…He knows players who may yet have something left to contribute at the NFL level and we’re bringing them is for an accounting…I think that’s a smart move…

right. very little chance of him even making the practice squad

Practice squad?

He may have too much accrued time to be eligible for practice squad.
