In Case You All Forgot!

We have been missing a few pieces and yes we lack a lil depth but we have a pretty solid core. We should prove all the prognosticators wrong!

Some say Richard Seymour Doesn't make that big of a difference... You decide

Just remember speed kills and add in TJ and Moore

In case you forgot about Mike Mitchell his absence has been sorely missed! Yes this guy is underrated haven't figured out why the coaches kept him on ice. You watch the ability and see if we miss him in the defense? How much better the defense is when MM is in there?

we win the west

SDs D is trash,KCs O is in shambles, Den is….., our O is much improved in the air, we improved our #2 running attack, and our D is a ? because we havent seen them all on the field together.

Exactly

Once we get into the flow of the season it’s gonna be fine. We just have to make some progress and get to the next step. I’m under no illusions that this is a Super Bowl run. Just improvements is all that’s needed.

i would agree

but we have to get a OLB and some depth at a few places first imo

by RyanTheRaider on Sep 1, 2011 8:59 PM PDT up reply actions

Indeed

Waiver wire will be nutty soon stay tuned. Rumor is the Broncos may cut deeper so they can grab players instantly.

I wouldn't be pissed if we went 9-7 and missed the playoffs

I am think 8-10 wins is realistic for us this season

"Just win baby. That’s what Al Davis says and that’s all I want to do. . . . I just want to be the best, and I just want to win." - Terrelle Pryor

Unless we get help at LB, I'm forced to revise from 10 to 9 wins ... and that's optimistic

Briggs update
Chicago Bears linebacker Lance Briggs still has three years left on his contract, but he wants additional money added to his deal; recently, he indicated that if the team doesn’t accommodate this request by season’s end, he’d demand a trade. Well, it appears that he’s bumped that time-line up significantly.

Vaughan McClure of the Chicago Tribune reports that Briggs’ agent Drew Rosenhaus has filed a request to seek a trade with the team, according to the LB.

“The Bears made their decision, now I have to make mine. It’s just how the business works,” he revealed. He added that the off-field dispute will not be detrimental to what he brings to the team while still employed by them, however. “It’s not going to take away from what I do on the field. I’m 100 percent a Bear, until I’m not a Bear anymore.”

As for the chances something gets done, Vaughan notes that the last time Rosenhaus sought permission from the team regarding a trade for one of his clients, Greg Olsen was sent to the Carolina Panthers. Things are about about to get very interesting.

i think thats fair

UPDATE: ESPN
UPDATE: ESPN AFC West blogger Bill Williamson says that if the Chicago Bears decide to trade linebacker Lance Briggs, they may find a partner in the Oakland Raiders. (He doesn’t mention this, but the Raiders would have to get creative to put together a package of draft picks for Briggs thanks to trades for Taiwan Jones and Joe Barksdale and the selection of Terrelle Pryor in the supplemental draft, the Raiders have no second-, third-, or fourth-round pick in 2012.) See below for his comments.

I don't see winning the division

That will likely be the Chargers, based on their terrific offense and a decent defense. They also shouldn’t have the same issues on ST; last year was pretty much ‘once in a lifetime’. I still think that we will split our games with them.

However, I do think that 9-7 or 10-6 is not unrealistic. Nine wins won’t get a wild card, and even ten may not do it, but that’s not the issue to me; will we be playing better, more mistake- and penalty-free, more consistent, more fundamentally sound football? If we are, then this year is simply another step towards the ultimate goal: winning another Super Bowl.

I can live with that.

Do you really put much stock in the preseason?

Based on that, would you think that San Francisco is a better team than San Diego…?

Preseason basically shows who has better second- and third-stringers more than anything else. How many teams do well in the preseason only to flop when it counts, because there really isn’t/wasn’t much difference between their backups and their starters, and not in a good way?

Until and unless the season proves me wrong, I stand by what I said; terrific offense and decent defense.

Nope but everyone else seems to be freaking out about it

I’m not that worried about SD this season…. I’m far more concerned with the other P/O teams we have to face. Still feel we are better than last year… Huge jump on offense much deeper, WR is no longer a deep concern. RB’s doesn’t get any better. OL will be fine and Bruce Campbell can finally get loose! I have said 9-7 hoping for 10-6…

by samiam2112 on Sep 2, 2011 9:54 AM PDT up reply actions

I'm not as confident about the offense being that much deeper

WR is still a serious concern, until and unless it is shown on the field, during the season, that it isn’t. Until then, DHB still can’t catch a cold, Schilens is unlikely to play much before getting hurt, Moore is an unproven rookie, Murphy needs to show that he has improved from last year when he regressed, and it is unknown whether Ford can do for an entire season what he did for part of one.

OL may be fine, and it may not. At least it should be improved on the left side, but C and RG appear to be the same guys who weren’t that impressive last year. Campbell may play, he may not; he is currently second on the depth chart, so placing too much faith in his ‘getting loose’ may not be the best strategy. RT should be improved, whoever is there. I think that the line will jell over the course of the season, as the true starters are determined by play when it counts, but that’s just my guess.

I have also said that 9-7 or 10-6 is realistic, but depending on injuries on a team with serious depth issues right now, it could also be a disaster.

Having seen Hagen, Moore and TP in person I'm not worried!

Hagen can be who Chaz was supposed to be Hagen is smooth on his routes and he’s all business and acts like the veteran he will be a calming force for the WR’s. DHB will be better this year and Ford is Ford. Moore is the real deal the kid is a player. I wanted to wait to see him in person but he has the potential to be special!

by samiam2112 on Sep 2, 2011 11:02 AM PDT up reply actions

I'm not knocking them

But, for me, until it happens during the season, it doesn’t mean a thing.

Last year, DHB was a beast in the preseason, according to all reports.

Just saying…

Hue said he used him as a decoy too much given the adjustment he made with McFadden I have to trust Hue

My only complaint is how they use DHB they like to throw a 30+ yard pass early to him. Get him involved in the game earlier with shorter stuff.

Anytime you ask Campbell to throw a deep ball you are asking for trouble also Campbell needs to be in the flow of the game to be more effective. He cannot just step up and throw the deep ball, it’s just not his strength. He is a ball control QB with the occasional play action deep play that’s how he is most effective from what I have watched.

cant wait

Since we have been playing most of the preason short handed we have been even more underestimated by most of the major sports media,If thats possible .I am salavating at the prospect of hitting the field at full strength and making everyone of the so called “experts” eat their words

I like Seymour so much more

Every time I watch him play or hear him pump the team up.

He is the unquestioned leader of the D

He is a missing ingredient to that side of the ball IMO. All of the players that have been here and have refused to embrace that role he fills it. He also has the talent and enough left in the tank to be the man he wants all of the others to be. He is mean nasty tough and spirited that what a D-lineman should be. When you look at the old Raiders Seymour could have played with them. That’s the kind of player he is.
