Oakland Raiders vs. Buffalo Bills Injury Update: Raiders Missing Key Pieces at Practice
Richard Seymour, Michael Huff, Jacoby and Jacoby Ford all sat out their second straight day of practice on Thursday. That is a bit worrisome. Seymour has a rib problem, Huff a groin and Ford a hammy.
I am confident Seymour will play. He got injured in the second half of the Broncos game and returned later that game. He was healthy enough to throw out the first pitch at the A's game. It would seem to me that Seymour sitting out practice is to just rest sore ribs.
Ford will probably be out. Even if it is just a minor tweak to the hamstring, returning in one week would likely be too risky. And hopefully it is just a minor tweak.
Jump over for more injury updates from both teams....
Who knows about Huff. If it is just a minor groin injury, he could be back. However, those things can also linger. Louis Murphy has been out since the start of training camp with a groin injury.
If seems very unlikely that either Murphy or Mike Mitchell will be back for this game.
Darren McFadden (shoulder), Kevin Boss (knee), Chris Johnson (groin) and Jarvis Moss (foot) were all limited in practice. The fact that they were working out at all is definitely a good sign for them being able to play. McFadden, like Seymour, was injured in the Broncos game and returned. I am sure he will play.
Chris Johnson likely wouldn't be practicing at all if his groin was bad enough to keep him out of action. I have no idea about Moss, and Boss is probably 50/50. Boss' return would be a huge positive. The passing game needs him. He will also be invaluable in the red zone offense for his blocking as much as his receiving.
Jason Campbell (foot) and Joe Porter (concussion) both had full participation in practice, and there should be no concerns of them being available.
Bills Injuries
WR Marcus Easley (illness), LB Robert Eddins (foot) and CB Terrence McGee (hamstring) all sat out of Thursday's practice.
McGee is the Bills starting corner. Drayton Florence took McGee's spot after he was injured on the first series of the Chiefs game.
Eddins and Easley are bottom of the depth chart players.
LB Arthur Moats (knee) and DT Torell Troup (Back) were both limited in practice. Both players are backups.
*Update: WR Steve Johnson was held out of Thursday's practice for, as of yet, unknown reasons. a

Steve Johnson was held out of Buffalo's practice as well
Very interesting. I’m not sure why he was, but here’s the link to the story:

Looks like it's a nagging groin injury for Stevie Johnson
From twitter:
@JoeB_WGR Stevie Johnson has had a nagging groin injury and was given the day off. Gailey says he’ll be good to go on Sunday. #Bills

Damn
biggest worry is CJ, hopefully he plays.

Giordano was great last week
perfect timing for him to step up with Huff going down and I though DVD looked solid in the slot. From what I hear Boss and McFadden expect to play but nt sure about Ford but if Jacoby is out we can at least get a look at Hagan.

Hagan Or Moore
I think raiders can use Moore in more different situations then Hagan since Moore has speed, But Hagan is a good possession WR which comes in handy on 3rd downs. Ether would gives us an edge in different situations so im not really worried who gets to play. But it would be awesome if Jacoby can come back.

agreed
Our WR depth is pretty good even if we don’t have a true #1.
The biggest injury concerns have to be in our secondary. Without CJ, Fitzpatrick will hurt us.
Without CJ
We will lose, that’s how much i think we need him.

Wondering...
Is Chaz hurt? I saw him on the sideline during the last game, dressed in his uniform
He played
But he never was thrown to, i’m sure hell get a reception or two in this game, come on hes 6’4 w/ blazing speed, how can you not miss him.

So
Safe to say that Yahoo’s injury list is simply not kept updated?

even if they play
is the fact that they played a very late game on Monday (tuesday in the east coast), have to travel 3 time zones, play on the east coast and play at 10Am WCT. They might be very fatigued by the end of the third, and that could make a difference. You have some good players who might only be 80, 90% and with the closeness of the talent on both of these teams, your stars who are not healthy could be a difference. Lets be honest, your DL is great, but Seymour is the key.
I can’t wait for sunday.
I would be more concerned about that if this were week 12
but since it’s week 2, I think the short week/travel situation is being overblown. Yes, it is a disadvantage, but not as big as everyone is making it out to be. In regard to Seymour, he is probably the most important link in the the D-line. However, Matt Shaugnessy, Tommy Kelly and Lamaar Houston are all above average players who would start on pretty much any NFL team.
The only injuries that are concerning to me are Chris Johnson and Michael Huff. Missing both of those guys would really deliver a blow to the Raiders.
Dline
Raiders D-line is key in this game. If Seymour plays then no problem we will get to FItz but if he doesnt then we will have trouble stopping the run.
Some other leader will have to emerge if Rich doesn't play. Even if Seymour does play, there will be a time when he can't
and we have to get past this dependence on his presence. The DL just plays superlatively when he on the field.
