It has been too long since I last posted about the Raiders (last week posted on Broncos and had a good time arguing with the fans, but it is time to get back to the team I bleed for!)
I know especially after this last game that more and more people are finally beginning to see that JC has potential to be the Franchise QB this team needs (He hasn't proved consistent enough to claim that title yet, but he is sure on his way). For those who still think this guy is the same guy from last year lets look at the numbers:
Through week 2 2010: 30/52 - 57% completion - 267 yards - 8.9 average - 1 TD - 2 INT - 6 Sacks - 4 FUM
Through week 2 2011: 36/55 - 65% completion - 428 yards - 11.8 average - 3TD - 1 INT - 1 Sack - 1 FUM
This is a vastly different QB and I see him only getting better as the season goes on. The INT was on a hail mary toss to end the Bills game and wasn't do to bad accuracy or decision making so I don't hold that against him. And the sack fumble came on a play where no one picked up the rusher and who got a good hit on JC from his blindside (again not really his fault). I know many of you may disagree with me at this point, but I am sure that by the end of this season you will be singing JC's praises with me!
I would also Like to point out to all who called me crazy that JC is on track for the year I projected for him during the preseason:
Current Stats Projection:
288/440 - 65% - 3424 yards - 24 TD - 8INT -
My preseason projections:
"Jason Campbell - Has his best season 245/390 (63%) 3,450+ yards 24 TD's 17 INT's (+ 1 Rush TD) – A lot of people are calling me crazy on this, but other than last year Campbell has been steadily increasing his production throughout his career. With a year of the system under his belt and his WR’s able to turn a short pass into a lot of extra yards I think he is going to have a great season."
I know we are only 2 games in and things can, and probably will, change; however, I still think JC is going to have his best season and come damn close to the #s above (no way he only has 8 INT though).
Poll
By the end of this season Jason Campbell will _____________?
have had a career season and will be guaranteed to be resigned as the Franchise QB (130 votes)
have had a decent season, but not good enough to guarantee he will be back in 2012 (39 votes)
have failed miserably end up with more INT's than TD's and be chased out of Oakland by an angry mob led by Al Davis with his walker (0 votes)
have had a career season, gotten the Raiders into the playoffs, but will still be let go (18 votes)
