New England Patriots vs. Oakland Raiders Injury Report
Five players sat out practice completely for the Oakland Raiders as they prepare for their game with the evil New England Patriots. Louis Murphy is still not able to take to the practice field. He was joined by new additions to the practice sidelines by Chris Johnson, Ricky Brown, Marcel Reece and Matt Shaughnessy.
This news is a little concerning. Obviously, all of these guys are in serious jeopardy of not being able to play. Shaughnessy and Johnson's absence is the most alarming. The Raiders will need all the corner help they can get. While Chimdi Chekwa and Joe Porter filled in well for Johnson last week, it would still be nice to have a healthy Johnson on the field.
Shaughnessy has plenty of capable backups. The Raiders defensive line is deep and capable. However, Shaughnessy is playing at a level that is irreplaceable. The defensive line is still a strength, but it is not as complete without Shaughnessy. There is not another defensive end on the roster that is as good at rushing the passer and play the run.
Jump over for more....
The good news in the list of players that did not participate is that Mike Mitchell and Michael Huff were not on that list. Both participated in a limited fashion. The fact that Huff was on the field means that he has passed the concussion tests, and he should be a lock to play.
It also seems like Mitchell may be on track to play. Both will be welcomed additions against a Patriot team that loves to throw to their tight ends.
Speaking of that, one of the Patriots two-headed TE monster was out of practice on Wednesday. Aaron Hernandez missed with knee issues.
G Logan Mankins was also a surprise addition to the did not participate list. He was listed out due to illness. I would expect he will be ready to play on Sunday. The Patriots had 11 players that were limited at practice. I would expect most, if not all, will play.
Here is the full report from Wednesday's practice, as found on NFL.com.

they must have a special practice surface

I thought the injury was to his groin or some part of his leg?
Hue said it just tightened up at the end of the game and he is fine

Why is it listed as his shoulder?
Is that something new?
He's had the lingering shoulder problem
since Buffalo…didn’t seem to limit him against the Jest…

Running backs only need their shoulders to...
…ram them into defenders.
It is what it is
again
it didnt effect him against the Jets

Key Injuries
Mitchell coming back would be huge!
Reece, Shaughnessey and the secondary are the biggest concerns.
DMAC says he’s good to go. I still think the horses are gonna be limited in practice this year to keep them fresh.
Can’t believe the Pats injury list ever a couple of years ago Brady was questionable every week…
Nother Subject
Anybody else see the Brady interview where he was talking about the game this week and would not even say Oakland or Raiders? This is the Belichick way to not even name your opponent I guess.
Cut Brady some slack....
…he’s still recovering from the loss of his locks.
It is what it is

DL Mike Wright (concussion), TE Aaron Hernandez (knee) and OT Sebastian Vollmer (back) the others missing from practice, Mike Rodak reports.

DL Albert Haynesworth (back) not present at today’s practice, Mike Rodak reports. OL Logan Mankins (illness) returns.
Key Injuries
Marcel Reece – Honestly he is the number 1 injury for the raiders as of now, i really hope he can play, he can cause matchup problems for many teams. If he can’t rock cartright might play FB which is good, because he can block very well. only problem is that it limits the raiders with Reece out.
CJ – Is another big one missing, he can help us against ochocinco. But still chekwa/porter played very well against San antonio which who is a better WR then deion branch & ohcocinco.
Matt – doesn’t have to play, i would rest him till he is 100 % since we have depth in our D-line. It wouldn’t make sense to lose him for the whole season, Jarvis moss got like 3 sacks against the jets, He is probably on fire right now, Moss would be the best DE for now instead of an injured Matt.
RAIDERS NATION
"There only can be one nation, The Raider Nation"
i was actually really concerned with marcell as well
but then again i thought rich gordon did a decent job last week when he filled in and also itll prolly put us in more 3 WR sets… which i want

Great to see Mitch back in the fold
he can be an impact player in this defense
"We’re going to be a tough, rugged football team that walks with a swagger and plays the way the Raiders used to play." Hue Jackson
I have a feeling we are going to see Mitch lay some big time wood when he gets back
Could be crucial to covering those underneath routes and just being that enforcer over the middle.

I have this feeling
He’s the one who will put the hit on Wes Welker to put him out. I keep picturing either him or DeathRo with the suplex slam.
According to Steve Young on his segment on KNBR yesterday
The Pats have a new playbook every week so the likelihood of using a repeated cadence would be slim! They may try to trick him based on the previous knowledge!
Campbell gets the most Roughing the passer calls
VittorioTafur Vittorio Tafur
Nice guy Jason Campbell No. 1 @MikePereira & FOXSports did chart of QBs who get most roughing calls: on-msn.com/ol529g #Raiders
Bets on how many "roughing the passer" calls there will be?
I’m going with one call for every QB hit. Seems closer to the mark than “half of all QB hits”.
It is what it is
The EVIL New England Patriots? Really? Seriously?
Our teams aren’t even in the same division! We see each other once every three years!
By the by, you’re using yesterday’s Patriot injury report. G Logan Mankins is back and DT Albert Haynesworth is listed as being out with a “back-injury”. You can count on Mankins flying to Oakland, and I still won’t be surprised if Haynesworth travels as well. I suspect they are resting him some more as he did participate in practice yesterday, but it’ safest to call him “day to day” as he is no sure thing to play.

"Evil NE Pats" was contrary sarcasm. It's the Raiders who are known as the "evil ones."

Mischaracterized in the 70's by Chuck Nolan the Steelers' coach and his "Criminal element" lawsuit
Fact is, we played hardball smashmouth on the edge of the rules and had some ferocious players who loved contact more than anything.

So the self-described bullies are the good guys?
Sounds like we could make a movie out of this!
By the way, if you’re going to call someone evil, at least spell their name right.
It is what it is
Surely you can do better than that
and fuck how I spell his same, he needs a normal name like “Smith” or “Crotchrot.”

I’m sure your evil franchise is prepared to make a movie, only they’re really more interested in our walk through.

Anyone else see Shaughnessy work the TE?
He threw the Jets TE like a ragdoll, taking out D’Brick in the process. I literally jumped out of my seat when it happened.
