What are the Oakland Raiders needs?
Hello Oakland Raider Fans,
GreaZzy from Revenge of the Birds here, and don't worry I come in peace. Since the season is over for us Cards fans(and unfortunately your season is over as well) I have shifted my focus to the upcoming NFL draft. I really like working on mock drafts, and trying to make the most realistic and accurate draft possible. That is where you guys come in.
I'm currently working on a chart which has every teams needs going into this off-season, both major needs and minor needs. I would be so grateful if you Raiders fans would help me complete this chart more accurately by providing your insight to the Oakland Raiders needs going into the draft. Any information regarding draft strategy of your organization would be helpful as well.
Thanks in advance, and better luck next year in your season!

We need a great QB like
Kolb.
Could we trade Boller for him?

You think we'll be doing a 3-4?
Our existing personnel would be horrible for it.

I dont think we would br horrible at it
we just have too many great linemen and no Nose.
Seymour played 3-4 end in New England, I actually think Lamar is even more suited to 3-4 end and Tommy Kelly is the kind of player that I think could would translate find to 3-4 end. I think we have Kam, A.C and Shaughnasty can all play OLB and Ro played ILB in college. I actually think A.C translates much better to a 3-4 OLB as well.
The major need we have would be just getting a NT but the rest of the personnel would translate just fine.

I got this trust me
These are our Immediate needs:
NUMBER 1- FS
NUMBER 2- CB
NUMBER 3- C
NUMBER 4- RT
After that we will need Depth at positions like LB, WR, S,
Success is not measuredby what you accomplish, but by the opposition you have encountered, and the courage with which you have maintained the struggle against overwhelming odds...
-Orison Swett Marden
our LB corps isnt bad, just undisciplined.
Wimbley is really good, Curry is good, McClain is the weakest. but he doesnt let too many guys go pass him, he just read plays horribly. After the starters though we have nothing.

Which is why it'll be intersting if we get a guy like Moss on the coaching staff
The guy seems to know how to get the most out of the LBs he coaches. That prospect really excites me as we have the talent there…just no consistency.

I think we can fill some of those needs in-house
We are looking at moving Huff to CB potentially but that could change with the hiring of a new coaching staff. I do think we really need some depth here a serious #2 guy if Huff can’t fill that spot.
I like the idea or at least the possibility of Chekwa becoming a FS. I know there was talk about that this year but again…we are getting a new coaching staff.
We have our center for the next few years in Lil Wiz…then again…that leaves a guard spot open which I think is a need for this team.
We have Barksdale and Campbell who might be able to fill that RT need as well.

LBS, LBS, DTS, A NT MAYBE N MORE DEFENSE
Trust No One
Studies show stress can kill you, but don't worry about it.

LBs..for sure. Quality LBs.

Our biggest need is for players to set up when the game is tight.
We have a bunch on avg. players on our team. When you watch our Defense play no one stands out. when teams pass the ball no one is afraid of Routt or anyone in our secondary. When teams run the ball they don’t shy away from anyone. Then on top of that when we are having a good half on defense the second half we forget how to play. When we compare our team player for player it shows we got a ways to go.
Routt could become a solid #1 corner with a little coaching
But we need someone opposite him. huff might do so.
We have a lot of needs and not too many draft picks to fill them with. Compounding the problem is that we are flirting with the salary cap, which is going to require trading or restructuring. We’re going to end up shopping some players for picks. I get the feeling Murphy or Chaz will become trade bait. The emergence of Moore and DHB leaves us fairly solid at WR if Ford can stay healthy, and Ausberry will probably be kept on for depth (Bye Bye, Housh).

We need guys who can play
We don’t have many guys who can just play football. Most of everyone on our team is if someone can coach if they had this we are missing guys who can just play football.
Mike, you can't get rid of EVERYONE
Look what DHB did with a little coaching.

All I am saying is how on earth did the Broncos make the Playoff with way less talent than us
It’s because the play with Heart. How many guys on our team show any heart and go out there and carry this team.
They weren't picked for character (if they have it we're fortunate) they were picked for athletic ability
Happily, that will be addressed soon.

Yes, we're in for some radical changes. Huff to CB, Sheppard and Boyd cut, Giordano and Branch resigned.
Dvd will remain but is so tiny he’ll always struggle in rush support. My hope is that Eugene returns and a healthy Checkwa.
