Welcome to the Nation! Dennis The Menace Allen..
Already putting in work at the Senior Bowl… Now let’s get rid of chuck!

Good News
Having a defensive-minded, determined, and focused leader can’t be a bad thing. I’m trusting R-Mac more and more every day.
Priorities
Sign head coach…. Check
Head coach brings in guys AND FIRES CHUCK
resign players
Draft
Free agency
ok so.....
Who is this 39 yr old man going to bring in as his staff??? He cant know a whole lot of talented coaches willing to work under someone with less experience being the shot caller. This sucks we could of kept hue and all our staff and fired chuck and got a real D cordinator and all our problems would of been solved. Well i guess its rebuilding year in Oakland… Fuckin Ye-haw!

Disagree
Speaking purely on the coaching for next season, yes, I would have preferred to keep Hue with his choice of D Coord. However, that would have been extremely short-sighted and bad for the organization. If R-Mac is going to entirely rebuild the org, he can’t have anyone else in a position of power who has in any way indicated they are his equivalent. To rebuild the org in its entirety, R-Mac has to have everyone in the building fully understand the chain of command. Knowing Hue just wasn’t a possibility with the rebuild coming, a HC with a defensive mindset is a nice start.

you can tell Reggie brought in this guy because he is a no-bs coach who loves discipline
Hue got his walking papers from all of those penalties.

Ridiculous
There are 32 nfl oc jobs and dc jobs. There is no longer the stigma of “who would want to go work for al davis.” People aren’t going to turn down an opportunity because their boss isn’t close enough to death. Why not give the guy 15 minutes on the job before starting the hatin’

I like it. Want a very good DC though....
I’ll take 11 players with heart on the field over 11 guys with just talent. Talent is fleeting, it goes away over time. Heart is what drives you to be better. To push yourself beyond what you think your capabilities are. To show us that when you strive, all things are possible.- SMP
I can assure you it wasn't discipline that won those Super Bowls, sorry.
If you ever wanted to see Boise St play...may be a good chance. Love em or Hate em, they are always interesting; and now, no matter where you live, "They're Coming To Your City"
The SB's we won.

Are they recent?
Because the superbowls the raiders won back then are from a completely different football age.

I agree with you on that,
However, in this ever fast pace, hire fire, try to buy a championship era we’re in, I laugh. Band of brothers man, chemistry, BBQ’s, house parties. All the coaches, and all the talent in the world won’t win a Super Bowl. 11 guys on the field that won’t let each other down, no way, no how, failure ain’t an option, we’re family, and we can beat these guys. That’s what wins championships.
All these teams have basically the same talent. Figure it out….Al did. He said it all. “Just win baby” Most people just don’t get what that means.
This, coming from a Raider fan of 44 years, who hung out with “The Super Bowl Winners” in Santa Rosa.
If you ever wanted to see Boise St play...may be a good chance. Love em or Hate em, they are always interesting; and now, no matter where you live, "They're Coming To Your City"
All these teams do not have basically the same talent.
The talent on the pats or packers are far different then on the browns and rams, the bills, and the donkeys.
I agree. A TEAM wins championships. But you know what builds a team? Discipline. Belichick commands discipline from his players. You don’t behave? Your out. Tom Coughlin demands it. John Harbaugh commanded it in San Fran, and look what happened. Discipline is definitely a key factor in being a champion. I hope Allen can command the same respect, and create discipline amongst the players. We tune down our penalties, and we can be a playoff team.

I totally get your point. I'm not going to argue with my fellow Raider fans.
IMO
1. Tom Brady is a dynamic personality
2. Coughlin/Manning, discipline, New York, Wall Street, it works
3. Harbaugh is a Gruden, its all about Band of Brothers to that guy.
4. We change the reasons for our penalties, and we win a Super Bowl.

Yeah. Guys with heart.
But the major teams in the NFL have a lot of heart too. Not just talent. Which is why there is a difference between teams.

The HC gameplans. I dont know how his gameplanning is. I expect it to be meh at first. But the DC will be calling the plays.

Reggie has already pretty much said what he wants.
He has his head coach and now expects an off. coor. and a def. coor. He didn’t get a coach to specialize in one area or another, he wants a leader. I believe he chose Allen for his “attitude to lead men”

Not always @ Jack's Axe
The DC will on occasion call the plays as well as the HC. Wade Phillips with the Cowboys would call plays after the defense faltered.

Broncos fans are not thrilled about it
And to any lurking Broncos fans in the crowd, who’s the next man up?
who the hell knows at this point.
Del Rio would be nice. But I along with others are sick of this BS relvoving door at DC. 7 years and & 7 DC’s is a big fuck up. Allen looked like he would be here for awhile. I thought he’d be around considering his inexperience as anything more than a position coach but looks like I was wrong. Del Rio would be at the top of my list but he’s the only guy on my list.
Know any good DC’s?
I am a fan of a team in the NBA, MLB, NHL, and NFL. I haven't seen the playoffs since April 28th, 2008 (1st round exit by raps). I haven't seen playoffs past the 1st round since January 26th, 2006. Stop and think about how insane it is. And depressing.

PR Genius
I just have to get this out there…. If we had just hired Allen originally, I would have been disappointed, but Reggie is a PR Genius. After letting it get out that he was potentially going to interview Mike Tice, hiring anyone else makes it look like the best hire ever. Think about it. When the news broke were you thinking about Allen, or did you mentally read the headline as, "Oakland Raiders hired _ (not Mike Tice). My reaction: Yes!
Donkey fan here.
You can be pleased to know that most bronco fans are pissed about losing Allen. In his first ever stint as a DC he did a great job. The turnaround on the D side was great and he played a big part in that. Drafting Von MIller, getting a good DT in Bunkley, and a healthy Dumervil helped as well but Allen got great reviews from the players.
My only concern about Allen from your point of view would be his lack of experience. He’s never been a head coach in his career (college or pros) and this was his first stint as a coordinator in either college or pros. He is another in a long line of hot shot young coordinator who has limited/no experience being a head coach like a Josh McDnaiels, Spagnuolo, Raheem Morris, etc. And we all know how those ended. It will be interesting to see and now that he is an enemy I hope he really sucks. No doubt that he was a great coordinator though and I unfortunately think you guys made a good hire but I am praying his inexperience kills you guys. Fingers crossed. GO BRONCOS!

-Seanbaby
One of my other concerns was his lack of focus
and the piss poor game plan he showed twice against Brady and the Pats. Of course, now that he got his wish as DC that will certainly not be an issue, but the week right before his most important game as Broncos DC (vs Pats, div rd playoffs) he was interviewing for the Rams position. It was clear his head wasnt in it for that game. Congrats, I guess, but I dont think he’s experienced enough yet for the role. Its not like his D set the world on fire this year either, we finished 20th overall and like 24th in points allowed

Your defense might not have set the world on fire
and correct me if I’m wrong because I certainly didn’t see many Bronco games, but wasn’t your defense on the field A LOT? Because your offense seemed to have lots of 3 and outs or short drives.
Yes but against elite passers they were absolutely awful
49-23, 45-10, and 45-10 against Rodgers, Stafford, and the second time we played Brady. They were on the field a lot for the Chiefs games, and still held them to a combined 17 points. The D was out of it from the opening drives of both the Lions and Pats games

-Tom Jackson
"When John Elway is standing in lava with a football, he will stay there and sink until you're open"

It's tough for any defense to hold the pats and lion's offense.
Seemed Like Dennis was bringing in something good for your defense though. FOr the Raiders, I do believe they got a win out of this, and the broncos got a loss if you know what I mean. There are DCs out there, but it will be tough bringing them in.

I agree it is tough to hold the Lions or Pats D down
but the defense showed a lot of quit in both those games. The game plan against the Lions was a disgrace. In all honesty, I think you guys made a mistake by firing Hue, and bringing in this guy. I dont think its a win for you, but definitely a loss for the Broncos. Im sure you’ve already heard the rumor of bringing in Del Rio, so at least theres that. One other thing, since Fox is a defensive minded coach, the loss wont be as bad, especially if he can bring in an experienced guy like Del Rio. Finally,
Seemed Like Dennis was bringing in something good for your defense though.
this loss isn’t as devastating for me as the Nolan loss was. If you remember, the 2008 Broncos D was every bit as hideous as the 2010 D, except that Nolan brought em up to the 7th ranked D, while McCoy brought the Broncos up to 20th. That is, until McDumbass showed his petty side and decided to start calling the defensive plays as well

"When John Elway is standing in lava with a football, he will stay there and sink until you're open"

Yeah, that's no good
But there weren’t many defenses that didn’t get owned by those teams. Anyway, it sounds like Allen has potential, at least. It’s not like our defense could get much worse.
As a DC, yes he has potential
but he also showed his inexperience at times in certain games. As an HC, well, that remains to be seen. Remember, just 2 seasons ago this guy was a position coach. He really needed a couple more years to get the DC job down, how ready can he be after just one year at DC?
"It's all over fat man!"
-Tom Jackson
"When John Elway is standing in lava with a football, he will stay there and sink until you're open"

For what it's worth
I wanted Jackson to keep his job. But I’ve got no control and since Allen is our new HC I might as well get behind the decision and hope for the best. I’m sure you guys will find someone decent to fill his role. You’ve got a couple guys on that defense I wish you didn’t have, to say the least.
You also have a couple guys on D I wish you didnt have haha
And now you’ve stolen our DC. Nice move, I must admit
"It's all over fat man!"
-Tom Jackson
"When John Elway is standing in lava with a football, he will stay there and sink until you're open"
-Seanbaby
Lest we forget
Mike Tomlin was “just” an assistant with no head coaching experience, just a crazy attack style defensive mentallity and I think Steeler fans might be pretty happy with him… Get the penalties under control and the Raiders go 10-6 (and run away with the division) on strictly talent alone… Raiders4Life!!!
I root for the Oakland Raiders because they hire castoffs, outlaws, malcontents, and screw - ups, they have lots of penalties, fights, and paybacks, and because Al Davis told the rest of the NFL owners to get screwed. Someday, the Raiders will be strong again, and they will dip the ball in crap and shove it down the throats of the wholesome, white, heartland teams that pray together and don't deliver late hits."... Have to also believe that
hiring Del Rio would give option if Allen craps out, idk if Allen wants to hire his replacement.
i wonder if allen will try to promote one of his position coaches to DC
are there any that are possibilities?
doubtful.
The only guy with a decent pedigree would be our D-line coach Nunnely but him and Fox go way back and I doubt he ditches him.

Wait and see!
I’m going to take the “wait and see” approach. As long as he doesn’t start off with “I’m going to build a bully” but.
Allen runs a 4-3...
that could be a good thing for our returning players so we have some semblance of continuity.
continuity of this defense is not what we need
I would be completely okay with 7-9 new players on the starting defensive unit
Could end up great
But I would LOVE a Bowles or Moss to be the DC/Ass. HC to go along with him
Disappointed we didn’t give Pagano a chance but Allen seems like an up and comer.
Best of luck to our new HC!
Hope he brings in a good DC, keeps the offense on the same track, and really turns our defense around. I’m ready for the new era to begin. No use being pessimistic. Go Raiders!
Will take a wait and see approach
I have to admit I am really pretty tired of the coaching carousel we have been on seemingly forever. Having said that, here is hoping he can manage to deliver, honestly I was hoping for someone with some NFL Head Coaching success (like a Cowher) but if he wins I will be happy.

If manning leaves the colts, any chance the Raiders get at him? I’d have manning over Palmer 99 times out of 100. I say that cuz Manning’s health is still a question. Nothing against Palmer, but Manning is better. I dont think it will happen though…

Bro...Once You Go To A Certain Point There Ain't No Healthy...It's A Liability!!!
Remember Gannon…And I’m a victim of neck injury myself and they put me off the job eternally….Retired my ass even when I could still do the job….But your one hit away from paralysis…The risk is already there before the injury and quadrupled after…It never goes back…It never goes away…

We're talking about one of the greatest QBs of all time
Maybe I’m just a dreamer, but like I mentioned days ago, having Peyton wear the Silver and Black has been on my mind for years….call me stubborn if you like but i’d take the risk….
Carson is a Raider. Thats all that matters. 417yds
If you ever wanted to see Boise St play...may be a good chance. Love em or Hate em, they are always interesting; and now, no matter where you live, "They're Coming To Your City"
And on the selfish side
Glad the suspense is finally over. It’s only been 2 weeks since the press conference, but it seems a lot longer than that.
I know its been torture... lol
Al Davis the Greatest Raider of all times... You will live forever in the hearts of true Raider fans...RIP
Defense was the key,
Take away the mid season sadness & injury, add a better defense and its a first round bye.IMO

Comments over at bronco land
&^%$in #$^$lickin $$## holy #%##@!!!! Piss!!! Nuts!!!!
We get the first good D-Coordinator in what seems like 20 years… and he jets out to the Raiders after one season?
$%#!!!##
Yesterday I loved him.
He was a Bronco. Tomorrow I hate him he’ll be a stinking Raider from the dark side.
it should have been expected. Allen was highly regarded around the league. Also our D wasnt anything special this year.
Fox is a defensive coach either way, so he’ll just bring up another underling and the defense philosophy will stay the same… Seeing the Patriots torch us a week and a half ago left a bad taste in my mouth regarding Dennis Allen’s game planning
Well sh!t
That is all
Jack Del Rio? Yes, please coach Fox
2-2-tie,
Kind of broke even on that info, no?

Welcome to the Dark Side Dennis!
I think this is a solid hire, makes us stronger on defense and weakens the Broncos (our most likely obstacle to the division crown)…I’m all in baby!
Gooooooo Raiders!
I Doubt Their Much Of An Obstical With Tebow....If That Changes Than Maybe???

I agree
I think the Chiefs are the team to watch. They got that defense workin’ and Charles coming back from injury. Granted Orton/Cassell ain’t no impressive show, but still they got what they need to take this division if they stay healthy. We only beat them that second game by blocking 2 field goals.
I hate his guts (Tebow) but the guy knows how to win, he's a fighter
I really see them as our biggest obstacle, and maybe Reggie did too hence the hire
I like the defensive minded hire
being from Colorado and seeing Denver play, the 20 and 24th ranking is deceiving because when Dawkins got hurt they fell apart, and Von Miller was injured and was not as affective down the stretch. If Allen is able to bring in a good staff, and brings attention to detail then I think he will be fine.
Also look at what everyone including myself and all us here were saying about that "D" going into the season
They were supposed to suck ass. He got them playing well. That defense carried them into the playoffs.
And I’m sure dennis the menace has some ideas about how to derail that tebowshow
I like this better than moss. Welcome to the NATION Dennis.

Good Hiring,
and I really wanted to stay in the 4-3. We got a 4-3 minded coach. All we need now is a good DC, and to keep Al Saunders.
Now, ONTO FREE AGENCY. Let’s bring black players, restructure, and get another solid corner (Not Cortland Finnegan), or safety..since Michael Huff will be playing CB….
anybody scared that Huff will be playing CB given that the during the times he was played at CB in nickel packages he sucked?
I am a Raider Fan. But I also a player's person as well.

Defense will be starting from scratch
scheme most definately and I expect personnel as well.
Gotta be careful with that however.
McKenzie said he will be combing the waiver wires a lot. This means most likely, we will not be spending a lot on players. While I believe that one or two players should be grabbed, we should not cut those that have contracts that result in us giving them free money, but those tho did not benefit the defense.
Many people say that we should Cut Routt. Bad move – very bad move. Restructure? Yes. Cut? No.
There are safeties out there i.e. Laron Landry, Sean Jones, Tanard Jackson, Dashon Goldson (as per http://www.footballsfuture.com/2012/fa/db.html ), so we can sign Branch, get a True Free Safety and get Rashean Mathis to sure up the D-Backfield, as well as find an MLB, and we should be fine.

I would not expect as many
“Jim Zorn” razzle dazzle plays or fake FGs & punts, but I would expect as many end arounds with our WRs as they were very successful.
"Dennis The Menace" May You Become A Thorn In The Side Of That "Donkey" For Many Seasons To Come...
Welcome aboard Capt!!….You may now take a firm grip on that helm and lead us into battle…

They just made a good point on ESPN.
The last time the Raiders went for a defense minded coach, was John Madden (a linebacker coach). OK, I like that. However, Madden was very unique, as I hope you know.

You Can Never Go Back Even Though We Would All Like Too...So Time Will tell...
It’s a start but I need to see what happens next before I get too excited about anything….
- for me now is to preserve that top 10 “O” by retaining Al Saunders and some of his assistant coaches…“OL”-n-"RB"s…Than spend a little time with Carson Palmer and find out where his head is going to be at with the loss of his mentor Hue…
- is who his other assistants will be and what his schemes will be…That 4-3 in the “MuleValley” doesn’t translate to much certainty in OakTown…Could be anything???
- is retaining some of our key players like Bush and Branch and others under contract wich basically falls more on Reggie than on “DTM”….“Dennis The Menace”

Possible that
ALLEN hired the LB coach from DEN as his DC
Now that we have Allen as HC we should concentrate on bringing in a DC I still would like us to go for Del Rio as DC/Asst HC position he did play LB so he could help out McClain & LB corps also Allen was a DB coach before which brings in good coaching where we are weak defensively

As for roster moves resign branch & bush(if cheap) should be our first priority then bring in some for depth cartwright giordano groves etc. also bring in schilens to compete for a spot with mcgee(reserve) trade huff for a 3rd or 4th round pick which opens up like 8 mil to bring laron landry or michael griffin restructure routts contract to get 1 or 2 CB if do just get 1 I say we gor for Finnegan but if we decide to go for 2 I say we go for mathis and someone to compete with dvd & chekwa for nickelback that shores up our secondary.now we focus on our oline I say we make a big push for carl nicks or been grubbs I think the ravens will bring back grubbs but as for nicks I’m not so sure the saints need to bring back a lot of key players bress, colstan, meachem, porter etc give him a lucrative he can’t refuse as for the draft we should try to get back in mid-late 1st /early 2nd and get DeCastro guard from stanford or Riley tackle from iowa
Now imagine that secondary & oline fs-branch ss-landry/griffin cb-routt, finnegan/mathis
LT-veldheer LG-decastro/wisniewski C-wisniewski/satele RG-nicks RT-campbell/riley
What you think???

Read it Nation
Monte Poole: Hiring Dennis Allen isn’t a touchdown for Oakland Raiders Oakland Tribune
After researching Allen, one thing is very clear about his coaching style.
Every player that Allen has coached, that we’re asked about Allen, all say the same thing about him. He ’s a disciplinarian. So, that would make sense why he was brought in. Get the penalties down on defense first and foremost. He should get the Raiders defense on the right track.
Offensively? I think Allen will be looking to recruit offensive mined coaches from the Saints, since that’s where he came from before going to Denver. Like Saints Aaron Kromer, Offensive Line/Running Game coach, or Saints QB coach Joe Lombardi to be OC.
this was my nightmare!
hiring another experiment as a coach. a military coach too! will the team take 39-year old first year coach seriously? i dont think so. it sucks to be a raider right now
He may succeed or he may fail
But it won’t be because of the numbers on his birth certificate.
why the hell would you jump to that conclusion now? This team isn’t filled with veteran head cases. Jon gruden was 34 when hired.
Want a more seasoned coach? Lets find out what Mike White is up to.

former players praising allen~no nonsense coach
jabier greer of the saints, champ baily of the donkeys praised allen and its a great move for the raiders.
both said he brings a no nonsense d, creates haviffic, blitzes, no penalities and allen will disapline anyone.
even ray ratto of the s.f .chron said good things. ratto said a great move and the culture will change. reggie will allow allen power to hire his own coaching staff. do i sense carmicheal coming here as oc with al saunders and maybe getting del rio as the dc.

DC
I don’t like this. Why didn’t they just hire this guy as DC? Jackson was a bad coach this year but he had promise, offensively. Now, it’s back to square one (again). I don’t like this.
Because he was already Denver's DC
I don’t think teams can poach coaches under contract from other teams in lateral moves. They can only grab them away if they are promoting them.
Well its not bad to hope
Gruden came in as a rookie HC, a fiery competitor and a doubted rookie. Same is going on with Allen. Gannon was old and ‘’washed up’’ I know Gruden was an offensive guy and all but I think we havent seen Palmer play his best yet because he hasnt had an offseason. It’d be amazing to see Palmer shut up the doubters calling him washed up, even inside the fanbase. Just like Gannon did, same with Allen.
If we did keep Al Saunders
it would give us some stability on offense and let these guys continue to learn in this scheme and get more chemistry together in a system they already know..
Right now the offense is a strength and the “D” a weakness that needs most of the attention.
Keeping Saunders would go a long way towards giving us some continuity on at least one side of the football.
That way they (Reggie and Dennis) can concentrate on rebuilding this defense and making it the unit it always should have been.
"Now I know what your thinking, did he fire six shots or only five. Ive forgotten myself in all this excitement, but being that this is the 44 magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world and could blow your head clean off, you have to ask your question. Do I feel lucky? Well do ya punk!"
Dirty Harry Callahan
All the discipline in the world is gonna help!
The fiery disciplne that u people think this little boy allen is gonna bring is really a joke and part of the problem, Reggie needed to do one thing @ hc bring in a name brand guy now, cowher, dungy, marty s , fisher, etc, a guy that the nfl likes as a PR front man for the league, as scamish as this sounds it is reality in this league! reggie knows this but does not bring in that guy ! he brings in another 21 game guy that will not amount to a hill of beans it is that simple !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
