Broncos hire Jack Del Rio as Defensive Coordinator
Well that sucks. Only because it seems that the Denver Defense is going to get better. I really didn't think Del Rio would be coming here with no ties to our new head coach, but it still sucks.
According to Bill Williamson of ESPN:
DENVER -- John Fox and Jack Del Rio are together again.
The Denver Broncos announced Friday night they had agreed to terms with Del Rio to become the club's new defensive coordinator.

Del Rio
Del Rio was Fox's first defensive coordinator in Carolina in 2002 before leaving after one year to coach the Jacksonville Jaguars, who fired him in November.
Del Rio replaces Dennis Allen, who left after one year in Denver to coach the Oakland Raiders.
Del Rio is the Broncos' seventh defensive coordinator in seven seasons. Other men who have filled the Mile High musical chair in the last six seasons are Larry Coyer (2006), Jim Bates (2007), Bob Slowik (2008), Mike Nolan (2009) and Don Martindale (2010). Allen was the only one who left for a head coaching job.
"We are thrilled to be able to add such a well-respected defensive coach to our staff," Fox said in a statement issued through the team's Twitter account.
"He was an integral part of our turnaround on defense during my first year with the Panthers in 2002," Fox added. "His defenses with the Jaguars have ranked among the NFL's best, and we are excited he's a Bronco."
The Broncos also hired Luke Richesson as their head strength and conditioning coach. Richesson spent the last three seasons with the Jaguars.
Boo.

With Denver hiring Jack Del Rio as defensive coordinator, the likelihood of Richard Smith becoming our defensive coordinator increases.
The only names I’ve heard thrown out there for defensive coordinator are Richard Smith (Denver’s linebackers coach), Emmitt Thomas (Kansas City’s defensive backs coach) and Bill Johnson (New Orleans’ defensive line coach).

Hes a donkey now, fuckim I say
The bronco blog is hilarious. Even before the del rio hire they’d already convinced themselves that allen sucks and theyd be better without him.

Kinda like the way some of Raiders Nation treated Zack Miller for leavingr?

I even heard some of that about Nnamdi.
I’m all for moving on after losing good players and coaches, but one thing about fandom that bugs me is how quick some can be to turn on them. I still think Al made a huge mistake in signing Routt to a huge deal instead of going after Nnamdi. Miller I miss too, but for the amount he got paid to got to Seattle? Not nearly as much.
Anyway, Denver's defense is in great shape with Del Rio coming in
The offense…we’ll see. I actually like Tebow and think he’s got potential. I’m one of the few Raider fans who feels that way.
Miller chose to leave,,, coaches are differnt they leave becasue of elevation to a higher position...
He was offered a contract and left… because his wife liked Seattle…
A player may leave to be a starter but when a starter leaves its generally a lateral transition where the coaches are a vertical accent. so why a coach leaves in generally different from when a player leaves.

Zack Who?
I say that hiring Allen and opening the door for DelRio to reunite with Fox makes Denver a better team.
Only time will tell. I am not crazy about who our new HC is.
He will have to convice me otherwise.

we were slow to contact del rio, denver was not.
allen needs to get busy hiring coaches. del rio was a dc with carolina with fox. for 12 year but have had a good relationship. he will have a good d but like i say, allen needs to move fsat with coaches. for example, i think hue jackson could be the oc at the colts because he worked with pagano at baltimore. as the world turns in raiderland

Makes you wonder if they got Allen out there scouting
at the Senior Bowl when he should be putting his staff together.
I dont think thy ever considered Del Rio
He was effective for his defense in Jax…so you know as a HC he still had a hand in the D, but he soiled his rep with the way he treated his QB. Also, as a newly fired HC and basically being demoted back to DC, I dont think they wanted him. They might have felt he wasnt a good person for the personnel.
Del Rio jumped at chance to be Fox’s D bitch again….no chance for upward mobility there. Go figure.

when you choose a former head coach the chance of him leaving is greater because they will always be in the retread pool...

Would have been nice though
Del Rio was #1 on my list for DC. Tragically, he has fallen the wayside to the Donks. They will get better on the defense, luckily their offense is still based on Tebow. Bowles is my #2, but as far as the Raiders are concerned that will be fantasy. I’ve since given up on who they will select and why. They will pick and we will deal with it. At the very least, it won’t be Panda. McKenzie and Allen got this, so time to move on. St. Louis looks pretty good, I like the combo of Fisher and Williams. Mike Sherman is the O coordinator for the Dolphins with a solid rookie head coach in Philbin, they are going to be pretty tough too. I’m not even going to lie, I’m liking the NFL coaching selections thus far. Our selections so far, while underwhelming, aren’t bad either. The NFL will be competitive next year, should be fun. Lets hope we get a half way decent DC and see if we can play :)

Problem Is The Schedule Just Got Tougher!!!
These teams all made moves to improve: Meanwhile we are without an “OC” or “DC” and all of our staff…
“Donkey”
“Dawgs”
“Fish”
Bucs
So this thing is NOT going to be easy:
Oakland Raiders 2012 Opponents
HOME
Pitts
Jags
“Dawgs”
Saints
Bucs
+ AFCW
AWAY
Ravens
“Fish”
Bengals
Falcons
Panthers
+ AFCW
"Tebowphobe"!!!

Good
If we make playoffs then we’ve earned it. I don’t see any cupcakes there, perhaps the Dawgs and Bucs. They all seem fun to me, cause if we can beat them with a rookie head coach then the path to the Bowl will be clear. If we fail terribly………………….damn schedule. NFL hates us :P

Fisher is overrated
And does not have the players to win with his ugly defensive style. He should have hired Hue for OC.
it doesn’t surprise me that we aren’t looking at a well known dc. Allen is young and it’s his specialty. He’ll bring in someone he knows and they’ll work together.
I dont like to worry about what other teams are doing. We handle our business we’ll be okay. thats it. hence, my slogan. Fuckem. We’re the Raiders. We dont care what they do.

Not too surprised about Del Rio, considering ....
His history with Fox !!!! I’m hoping McKenzie heard and felt something PROFOUND & RAIDEREST, In his interviews with Allen, for Del Rio would of brought some HC experience, if he was being seriously thought about, or was it just us thinking he was in the running ??? Oh well, time to put in gear, unless his list contains coaches from the SB TEAMS !! Makes you pause for a sec, and maybe go Hmmmmm. This would explain alot, and if that being the case, let’s hope it’s the Giants staff he raids !!!
It seems like every time interview someone it shows up somewhere....
I just wonder if we even talked to del rio.
Everybody, calm down, we'll do fine against the donks, and everyone else for that matter
I was just as angry as everyone else when we laid down against the Chargers, but lets look at a lot of good things we have going for us. We were an 8-8 team that easily could have been 11-5 or 12-4 with merely a couple defensive adjustments and stops. Buffalo, Detroit, Denver and SD @ home were all very winnable games. We don’t fuck up in those games we’re in. period. Now we’re going to have a legit DC. Sorry we didn’t get Spags, Nolan, Del Rio or any other hot DC candidate. Truth be told, a bag of Chili Fritos would be an improvement on D so it doesn’t matter, we just need discipline and consistency. I think Allen will make that a priority. If he has half a brain he knows we have weapons everywhere. He has to realize they need guidance and we’ll be straight.
As for people worried about Del Rio…on the flip side he has to worry about us 2x a year, scheming for Moore, Ford, DHB, and potentially a healthy DMC, and in addition knowing we’ve averaged 34 points a game against them the last 4 games (I know the 59 pt beat down was an outlier, but still, it happened). I wouldn’t look forward to that if I were him.
Also, back to the 8-8 season…how many teams would go 8-8 with their starting QB and Rb going down by week 7? I live in Baltimore and all my my delusional co-workers tell me how the Raiders suck and I should root for a real team with them. So I asked them, “you think you’d go 8-8 if Flacco and Rice were clipped?” They got mad and wouldn’t give me a straight answer. Think about it, if we’re healthy and cut the bullshit, we are a nightmare for anyone. I don’t care about that schedule, if we are healthy and go 8-8 again I’d be disappointed.
So in all, we have a lot to look forward to, and don’t sweat the DC because whoever we get will be an upgrade to Bresnaschmuck. Lates.

Yeah
As disappointing as the end to the season was, when you consider that we had perhaps the worst defense in the league (certainly one of the worst), major injuries to almost every single key offensive player, and we set a record for most penalties in a season…well I’m not sure how the hell we managed 8-8.
It’s a testament to how good our offense is/can be.
At any rate
I’m still not too worried about Denver. Their defense will continue to improve, surely, but unless Tebow make HUGE strides in the offseason and Denver grabs another legit WR and some RBs who are better than both Moreno and MaGahee (sp?) they are still going to struggle all day on offense.
We, on the other hand, have a great group of young offensive players. If we can just get our defense to a respectable level then it should be fine.
If we rank 31st in penalties and penalty yardage instead of setting records we would have won the West too IMO.
