    Is that the guy

Who took the Chargers D-Coord job las year, then took the Chargers #1 ranked D in 2010 to #19 in 2011?? OMG!!!!!!!!!!!

    Ewww

Can’t we look for guys from teams that had defense at least in the top 15? Are we just being really cheap or is the plan to hire people from the AFC West and hope they have some huge vendetta against their former teams like Shanahan did with Al Davis?

I can’t even imagine why they’re talking to this guy.

Well, since we hired a retread douche like Knapp for OC

Why not get the turd that took SD’s D to the toilet as well.
Allen hiring is not looking very bright at this time.

    ^^^^

Agreed!! It seems like we are building a staff around former opponents. It might help us get some type of edge against the other AFC West teams, but like 2010…6-0 against your division does not guarantee playoffs.

    Meant to agree with Chris2814

Underwhelming staffing choices are starting to pile up

Not sure what this says about the new leadership. At least previously they had the Al Davis omnipotent excuse, now what. I guess they want guys with experience who have no desire to be HC’s for consistency purposes going forward.

Im totally fine with Greg Manusky become our Defensive Coordnator

Aslong as he takes Shaun Phillips with him and although I feel Eric Weddle is overrated throw him in to and your hired Greg!

    Hahahah

And boom goes the dynamite!!!! Ok, no panic nation. Seriously, lets not read into this. Whomever the DC and OC will be, we are going to get behind them. We all knew change was going to happen. For one, we must hope that McKenzie and Allen know their football. As fans, we are not privy to anything but stats and the results. We don’t know how much credit goes to the players and the coordinators either way. There is speculation and results and that is all. All of you liked McKenzie, now trust him. I’m not happy with the choices so far, but I’m just a fan. If we go 12-4 or 11-5 next season, no one is complaining. Let the coaches coach and lets find out what happens. Despite these seemingly poor choices, I at least know we aren’t the worst team in the league……….for now :P

Of course we'll get behind them

Any fan who survived Norv Turner, Art Shell, and the disaster that was JaMarcus Russell is clearly in it for the long haul.

I just wish I could be more enthusiastic about these [potential] hirings. But come September I’ll be cheering for the Raiders no matter who the coaches are.

    Yep

Business as usual. We’ll be cheering them on no matter what, and arguing and bickering with ourselves when things are not going well, trying to figure out who should get the blame. I just wish this organization wouldn’t utterly crush our dreams of having a great coaching staff every year. We had a taste of it with Gruden, and then a decade of (insert your favorite metaphor here).

    He was only interviewed

he’s not hired yet. Let’s keep that in mind.

Well you guys should also keep in mind

That this hire came late and There isnt many choices. Allen was DENIED to speak with 3 coaches for the DC job, and if we get Manusky that could mean switch to 3-4 so idk anyone better to choose, not WHO your heart wants but honestly that would come

    Also

Chargers fell in ranks because rivers through his most picks ever and they were on D a lot more than usual. I dont think it was a manuskys fault, pretty sure they had a stout run D in SF when he was there.

Why you all hitting the panic button in January 2012?

Season is 8 mos away? Get over yourselves. We were 8-8 with a good play-caller on offense, a ridiculously mistake-ridden team that needs discipline and possibly the worst DC of the past decade. We weren’t really a haven for great coaching vacancies for the past decade. Manusky had some solid defenses in SF and last year the Chargers had one of the worst turnover differentials thanks to their QB. Even in the season finale Manusky’s defense made us very one-dimensional and we could not get in rhythm once we allowed the kickoff return TD with Carson having to throw for 400+ yds.

After Manusky left SF, their defense became a fucking monster.

When he was in SD that following year, their defense was in the toilet.
The last game of our season had nothing to do with Manusky’s prowess and everything to do with how fucked up we were.
    He is a bottom feeder.

They also added some talent before the start of last season...

Harbaugh also came in ran the offense in a defensive manner and ground the clock down limiting other teams TOP.

Bowman was pretty manly in his second year. Carlos Rogers had a big season for them also on D and every Smith they had played well.

Our division rivals must be laughing at us like crazy

We take Denver’s DC who had the 20th ranked defense as our HC just so they could upgrade and get Del Rio. We bring back the OC we had during maybe our worst offensive season of all time. Now we are going to bring in SD’s recently fired DC because he took the #1 D down to #19.

Wow…Reggie’s “gut” must be full of poop.

You know what would make a good story? Something about a clown who makes people happy, but inside he's real sad. Also, he has severe diarrhea.

    Cargers D

I am not worried about the Cargers D as the reason they are getting worse is because they have not replaced their good players over the last few years. Their D has gone down hill ever since the Championship game.
