Anybody Remember Why Knapp Left Oakland ???

If i recall , the reason Knapp and Cable were let go in the first place , and Hue Jackson was brought in , was because neither Knapp , nor Cable could make this offense move . There were times our defense played magnificently , and our offense couldn't score more than 6 to 9 points .

After years of not being able to move the ball on offense Oakland finally turned the corner , and has chosen to return to the dark ages . Oakland was a defensive coordinator away from taking the next step and it now appears were starting from scratch .

Though Dmac and Reece should thrive in a west coast offense , our receivers don't really fit , and Palmer may not be mobile enough for a west coast system . Even if the personnel can adapt to the system, will they get the chance to excel with Knapp calling the shots .

I guess Raider nation will have to hope for the best .

I'm not sure how true that is

when he was the 49ers OC from 2001-2003 they had a total record of 29-19 in the regular season and had 2 playoff appearances (with a playoff victory in there too). Granted, I don’t know what that offense was ranked, but the team was winning most of that time.

And in Atlanta they went 11-5 in his first season as OC and won their division.

Just a little breakdown

49ers:
2001: 409 points scored
2002: 367 points scored
2003: 384 points scored

Falcons:
2004: 340 points scored
2005: 351 points scored
2006: 292 points scored

This season our Oakland Raiders scored 359 points. So I’d say his offense do okay. With SF, they actually did pretty damn well.

That was a long time ago...the game has changed since then

If you look at what he’s done lately…it tells you what we got.

You know what would make a good story? Something about a clown who makes people happy, but inside he's real sad. Also, he has severe diarrhea.

What i see here is one bad year that cost him his Atlanta job, the offenses that he has worked on since then have done well

He hasnt been the OC and since you despise the man you wont give him any of the credit for the offenses on the teams hes been with doing well with but where ever he has gone the offense has improved after his arrival besides his first stint with us and the one bad year in Atlanta. He had bad years with us before with Horrible teams, yes and that is on him too. However you act like he hasnt been part of productive offenses in recent years and that is not true. He had bad years with us but overall he has had a successful career, you just hate him and write it off as that was a long time ago or other people did all the work so that you dont have to consider that maybe your being too harsh.

I will fully admit all the bashing on him as made me be overly kind to him because i do not like the hire much either, but at least i can admit that something is effecting how i judge him. You hate the guy and are not willing to look at any of the positives he has done, and I dont hate the man and am definitely overly sugar coating his mistakes. There probably is some middle ground between us that is the true reality of the hire.

yeah cant argue that for sure but maybe it had partly to do with the head coaches he worked under and what they game planned for

He definitely does not throw many curveballs though i agree

What talent packed team

did he have to work with? He wasn’t horrible with San Fran. There he had Garcia, TO and Hearst. I personally think our offense is more talented than that one. The other three jobs he had ATL,OAK 1.0, and SEA) were WR deficient. I’m not gonna count Housh on the decline.

You're not gonna get anything better from me

I’m not exactly onboard with this hire. I am, however, still treading water. It seems everyone else has already sunk to the bottom of the abyss.

NOBODY

is as bad as Tom Walsh. I even bet I could run a better B&B.

Our personnel on offense is significantly better than it was when Knapp was last at the helm. The guy is a proven offensive mind, and I’m not going to hold his last stint here against him considering his QB situation, and the anemic offensive personnel in general.

by Slightly Hyphy on Jan 31, 2012 8:50 PM PST reply actions

our personell is better but not suited to his offense 5-9 jacoby ford isnt a west coast receiver , dmac didnt do well in the knapp/cable type offense , its tom walsh all over , repeating the same behavior expecting a different result

i hope i am proved wrong but oakland didnt fair well with the return of shell , walsh , breshnehan etc etc etc , vick was a one man army with knapp so if pryor is our future at qb he may have sucsess , but i think we could of done much better

Wes Welker

is also 5’9" and 185 lbs.

It ain’t the size of the dog in the fight.

by 509er on Feb 1, 2012 3:00 PM PST up reply actions

welker is not a fit for a west coast system either , west coast receivers are those 6-2 220 lb guys , i didnt say ford is to small to play football , i said doesnt fit the west coast system we seem ready to go back to

we also got rid of the o linemen that were zone blockers and replaced them with bullies that will now need to be replaced with zone blockers with little help from the draft , because picks we traded to get bullies

McKenzie mouth may have cut a check, his azz can't, and won't cover !!!

Allen’s picking his own staff, okay. But if they don’t pan out, I think big Mac, won’t have a problem stepping in next year, and making some STRONG suggestions, on coaching personnel !!!

McKenzie

Same guy that laughed at the suggestion of hiring Gruden.
