Greg McElroy would be an excellent pickup at backup QB for Raiders

The Raiders will be looking for a backup to Palmer with Kyle Boller being nearly inserviceable as a backup, and Terrelle Pryor still being a raw prospect who basically came out as a sophmore.

I think Greg McElroy might be the man for the job.

You gotta love this kid's character for speaking out, despite having to return to a locker room full of thugs like Bart Scott and Santonio Holmes, and he's got a great background. He led Alabama to a National Championship in 2009, and was a team captain for the Tide in 2010. He played great in the preseason behind an offensive line built of 5 Cooper Carlisle's (oh my the horror), before dislocating his thumb.

I would have taken McElroy in Round 4 last year, but he fell to Round 7. I was extremely disappointed when Richard Gordon (how much field did he see?) was taken over McElroy. This is a chance to steal from the Jets.

With us having no picks, I think the Raiders should do a sign and trade swap with Campbell and McElroy. The Jets have someone to compete with Sanchez, and the Raiders will save money and get a serviceable backup (TJ Yates, anyone?)
