The Raiders lost a heartbreaker on Sunday. Which I suppose is a lot better than getting blown out as they had two weeks ago. They put up one hell of a fight and there were some nice performances in the process. This week's Ballers & Busters bears this out.

This game was expected to be a blowout. The Falcons were highly favored. The last time the Raiders were this much of an underdog was against the Steelers in week three. And they won that game. So of course they would come into this game and make it competitive.

It's game day. Hope everyone has their chair, couch, or bar stool staked out and are ready to see some Raider football. It's been two weeks since the Raiders last played and now that the bye week is out of the way, it's 12 straight weeks with no more weeks off.

In a game like this there are a lot of important matchups. With the Falcons firing on all cylinders, most of those matchups surround whether the Raiders can't slow them down. The Raiders have players who have proven themselves in the past but have yet to really show up this season.

The last time the Raiders won a game in the Eastern time zone was way back in 2009 when they beat the Steelers in Pittsburgh. Think about that for a second. Much has been made of the Raiders struggles in the run game this season. Even with arguably one of the best running backs in the league in Darren McFadden, his feet are stuck in cement. The Raiders are focusing on this week's game in Atlanta to shake out of their running funk.

Now that the bye week is over it is time to concentrate on the undefeated Atlanta Falcons. Normally I dislike early bye weeks like this year's week 5 bye, but it really could not have come at a better time for the Raiders.

The Raiders returned to practice Monday following their bye week. Now they begin preparing for the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. They will do it while Michael Huff continues to start at cornerback for the injured Shawntae Spencer.
