I'm shocked nobody's started a thread regarding bringing back Stanford Routt ...

Apologize if they did, but I haven't seen mention of it this week on the Fan Posts or Home Page, so I'ma bring it up now.

Now ... a guy getting cut like he did, 8 weeks into a 3-year, $18 million deal definitely raises red flags, but there's no way they could've done it for health reasons, so presumably he's physically fine. IFAIK, Routt never asked to leave the Raiders, he was just cut as he was overpaid. When something like this happens, one is left to logically assume he must've said something to piss off someone in the 'organization'. Perhaps that something was along the lines of "Man, I wish I was still a Raider ...at least they have SOME chance still this season!" I could certainly see how a comment like that could be a one-way ticket to a pink slip in Kansas City.

Given that it's almost certain that, under these circumstances, Routt's stock has been severely de-valued vs. what we were paying him just 9 months ago ... given that he at least has some familiarity with our system ... and most importantly, given the abysmal state of our 2ndary, both in terms of actual play, AND durability ... I have a hard time seeing how it WOULDN'T make a HUGE amount of sense for the Raiders to sign him, at least for the rest of the season, if they can acquire his services for a reasonable price? I know he's not everyone's favorite, but that was *mostly* due to his outrageous contract ... not because we didn't like him in the S&B

So what say you Nation? Should the Raiders make a play to bring back Mr. Routt?
