We all know the score by now; Knapp sucks, our running game is pathetic, our O line is pretty bad, Willie Smith is straight up terrible, we can't handle good running teams consistently, and 2nd half adjustments seem to bite us on the butt quite often. We have no identity as the coaches want to run the ball but can't, and passing can only take us so far when WR's drop passes, lineman get called for holding, or we have no threat of a run to run an effective play action. Our problems have not changed, but rather they have consistently stayed there. Our team is very inconsistent in terms of execution. The good news? This team will not give up at all. That is such a ridiculously positive aspect that I can't emphasize how important it is going forward.
Allen has been out coached several times. Yet the Raiders play to the end in every game. Whatever he is telling them, it seems to work. Allen is making some rookie mistakes, but who didn't expect that this year? The most important part of any coach is how well they adjust from half to half and game to game. Allen and Tarver have both shown how they can improve this team with adjustments from game to game. The problem in our losses appears to be half to half adjustments. 10-6 to 32-42 is not a good adjustment for the defense. Against Atlanta, we gave up the lead. Against the Donks, we let them hammer us in the 3rd. Close games tend to favor opponents in the 3rd. Our coaches need to figure that part of the game out. We can fight to the bitter end, but the only end result that matters is winning. I look for them all to get better for this second half. OJT is over for Mr. Allen, time to apply his experience into some victories.
Knapp sucks. I want the man fired either soon or at the end of the season. That is just my humble opinion. For team success, I would prefer a new OC. I don't mind the ZBS. In fact, I think it can be down right dangerous. Palmer and the passing game seems to thrive pretty well within it. The running game could be more effective too. I've seen many games this season where we missed a hole, or we were one broken tackle from big yards. If we dump Willie Smith and perhaps get a half decent player in there, ANYONE at this point, perhaps more plays can happen. Knapp has done a decent enough job on the pass plays. But his inability to fix the running game is glaring. No man who has DMC averaging 3 yds per carry should be allowed to keep his job. If Hue could fix it, why can't Knapp? I don't think Knapp should run the ZBS in Oakland.
Going forward, we got the Ravens, Saints, Bengals, Browns, Broncos, Chiefs, Panthers, and Chargers. I honestly think we can beat the Bengals, Browns, Chiefs, Panthers, and the Chargers. I don't know what team will show up against the Ravens though. Will it be the team that handled Pitt and gave Atlanta all they could handle? Or the team that got bum rushed for over 200 yards from a rookie running back? The Saints and Donks will be tough too. Simply put, Brees and Manning will eat our secondary alive. Still, I expect some strong competitive play from the Raiders. They have shown they can play with anyone and upsets are possible. So what do you think Raider Nation, does 9-7 make playoffs?
