I bought the whole "cut it loose" garbage from the Cable Guy, I totally bought the whole 'bully under construction' crap from Hue and I recently bought most of the 'we have to be multiple, we want to win, discipline will be my motto" shit from Allen. I'm not willing however to buy the whole 'Tarver and Knapp are miracle men who will lead our team to the Super Bowl, they just need some time to teach the players what they know' stuff. I've read a lot about how the game versus Kansas is a proof of how the defense is finally getting what Tarver wants froem them and I just can't buy it. The Chiefs were playing with Brady F. Quinn throwing the ball to Mr. Nobody McIrrelevant since Bowe was out. Do you really need to be a genius to know they will desperately try to give the ball to Jamal charles? Oakland played with 7-8 players in the box most of the game, so I don't see much credit to give when all you acomplished was to shut down a team who has won just two games and who was trailing the score every game until november 12th versus Pittsburgh. Hell, they've scored no TD on 3 of their last 5 games and hasn't scored over 10 points in 4 of their last 5 games. Their Offense sucks. It was no feat to keep them from score.

So what about our offense. I mean, we did get over 200 yards on the ground right? Yes, we've been only the second team to run for over 200 yards to the Chiefs defense this year (Bills did it on week 2). And the sixth to get over 140 rush yards against them... Hell, only 4 teams hasn't passed the 100 yard mark versus the Chiefs. They are the 27th rush defense. They are also 25th at points allowed, and we just didn't score a TD... Awesome.

So i know, it's good to win a game for a change and losing to Kansas would have depressed me. But all this optimistic posts about the Raiders future seem a little too much. This is a terrible season and this was anything but a statement win. We won ugly as ugly has been the whole year. The next two games will be away (even if San Diego seems like a little Oakland sometimes) and we will face better teams. Shutting down Cam newton or Phillip Rivers, that will be statement from this defense. The game vs. Kansas was just like traveling by bus: Boring, plain, if nothing unexpected happens you will arrive where you were going.
