Raiders serve up the usual in loss to Broncos

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

The Broncos strolled into the friendly O.co café and ordered the usual from the Raiders. And that is just what they got as they cruise to an easy 26-13 win in Oakland over the accommodating Raiders.

The usual from the Raiders is a defense which can't stop teams on most down but especially third down. And it is an offense which shows flashes but doesn't bother to show up until it's too late. And of course, Palmer always throws in a tasty side of piping hot turnover.

The Raider won the toss and deferred to give the Broncos the ball to start the game. Peyton Manning picked the Raiders apart, converting three third downs on that opening drive to score a touchdown with ease.

The Broncos would score on their first three drives as a matter of fact. The second two drives ended in field goals to take a 13-0 lead. The Raiders first three drives all ended in three and outs.

Midway through the second quarter, the Raiders saw some life when Phillip Adams intercepted the ball and the Raiders drove down the field to score a touchdown. They would head into the locker room down just 13-7. They would get no closer.

The Raiders began the second half back to their old tricks. A three and out followed by the Broncos driving for a field goal. Then a turnover by Palmer - this time on a strip sack by Von Miller - and the Broncos got the ball and the Raiders 2-yard line and scored another touchdown.

Then it was another three and out followed by another Denver drive for a field goal.

And as the Raiders are indeed creatures of habit, for dessert Palmer drove them down the field for the usual garbage time touchdown to make it seem a bit closer than it really was. The touchdown was a pass to Darrius Heyward-Bey he sprinted the last half the way for a 56-yard score.

The Raiders were also the typical shelter in the storm for weary passers by. This time for Knowshon Moreno who ran for 108 yards - just the third 100 yard game of his career and his first since December of 2010. He had a career high 30 carries because the Broncos didn't hardly put the ball in the air in the fourth quarter.

Rod Streater had exactly 100 yards on four catches for his first career 100 yard game. He had three catches last week for 96 yards.

Marcel Reece barely touched the ball, getting five touches (4 carries, 1 catch). Dennis Allen said he wanted to get McFadden the ball more. This despite Reece's standout play during McFadden's one month absence.

McFadden re-injured his ankle late in the game and his status is uncertain at this time. Michael Huff also went out with a wrist injury and did not return.
