I think we're pretty much guaranteed a top 3 pick. There's been a lot of speculation (and the likelihood(although thats speculative)(oh sh*t i just speculated)) that McKenzie will trade down to get more picks to get all the help we sorely need.
Not a bad plan i'd say. But as we're all painfully aware it may take a few more drafts to get where we all know we belong, at the top of the NFL.
The real question is, does he trade down, or does he use that top 3 pick to draft the new face of our franchise? An anchor that will be there season after season making play after play. You probably think I'm talking about Manti Te'o and I will admit I came in writing this article with him in mind. I mean the guy has 6 national awards he could be "one of those guys who only comes along every 10 years or so". could be. Or someone like Star Lotulelei, I don't know. Insert anybody you like for the Raiders here. My point is there is some real talent available to us and we can have it if we want.
McKenzie, last draft, found some diamonds in the rough with the limited picks he had that late in the draft, in the FA and the UDFA. Juron Criner and Rod Streater were not bad picks, they are starting to develop. Jeremey Stewart filled in admirably for a few games. Christo Biludki has potential. Bringing in Philip Adams is starting to work out. So I have faith in his ability to pick out talent.
It just I wonder will he can would be able to do with a first round high pick and what it could do for our team.
