Frank Pollack to replace Bob Wylie as offensive line coach
This hire is a little surprising to me, in that, coach Wylie did an outstanding job with our O line this past year. I'm not sure how I feel about this yet. The offense has not run the ball this well in a long longgg time, and if I'm not mistaken, the last time the Raiders used the ZBS, instead of (preferably) the PBS, our offense clearly was not as capable of running the ball as it is currently.
Another thing that is very concerning to me is that Darren Mcfadden struggled in the past when in the zone system. I do believe his struggles had a lot to do with his inexperience at the pro level and his unfortunate injury history. Not so much the scheme that we were using. I think that he has evolved as a runner mightily, and would be able to be successful in the zone scheme if given another opportunity. One thing that does give some glimmer of hope is that Mr. Pollack comes from a great offensive team that uses the ZBS and runs the ball extremely well. I would be lying if I didn't say that I am a little excited to see how well our team adapts to the new system and coach. If coach Pollack can bring some of the success they have had in Texas, than I expect this team to be explosive on the ground.

What will also be interesting is whether Big Wiz will be retained.
Is he capable of coaching zone blocking or is he strictly a power blocking guy?
If run properly, the zone blocking system is very mighty. The Broncos dominated with it for years. The Texans are currently doing the same thing. The nice thing about ZBS is that you do no need a stud running back to run it successfully. That would allow us to trade DMC to beef up our draft, while still maintaining a formidable rushing attack. I don’t think Palmer is a good fit for the ZBS, though, since a big part of the system is the bootleg playaction which requires a fair amount of mobility.
you must've just hit the blunt.....
Before typing that first statement, about trading D-Mac. Totally hyphy at the time !!!! But I have to agree with you on Carson P. Constantly rolling out !!! This brings you back to slightly hyphy !!! But if it’s only 3 to 5 step rollouts, it could possibly work out.
