AWWWW FUCK
Perfect, let them have a great O-Coord, a very well respected mind in the NFL, to give away how our players work best, to coach them and cause problems to our D next year, this is one of the reasons I wouldnt have wanted to let Saunders go….and who do we bring in???? Greg freaking Knapp

We just need Charles and Cassel to suffer more season ending injuries and we'll be good to go!
Every man for himself...
nah screw them
we can take them best for best any day.

Got to agree with Raider Pride Al Saunders was a class act!!
There was really no need to look beyond Saunders he is a great OC. I call bad move on this 1
I bet you if Knapp was OC last year and Saunders was on the Market this year the Raiders would go after him. It is just a matter of cleaning house I believe.
They had to retain Wiz....
In his first year as a coach in Oakland, not too bad. He’s also a fucking legend. Oaklands culure is changing, but I feel they have kept the family/we take care of our own image.
The cowards never started, the weak died along the way....

First good news I've hard in a while about Wiz.
Too bad Frank Pollack will be the main O-Line coach. Pollack confirms we’ll be zone blocking next year..
i worded that wrong.
made it sound like Pollack said it himself they’ll use zone blocking. I was just stating the fact that Pollack used zone blocking with the Texans so that means we’ll be using it again as well. I thought we did great with powerblocking last year
Yeah I would hate a run blocking attack like the texans had

More smartass than I intended
We have better players now than we had last time we ran a zbs. absent a couple good games and dmc working his magic, our run blocking last year was NOT GOOD.
the sky is not falling.

well zone blocking worked in houston.
but then again they have foster to make the run game look great. i forget the actual ranking but i’m pretty sure our O line ranked higher than houston’s last year
"OL" Raiders #5 -vs- Houston #13....Passing #11 to #18....Total "O" #9 to #13...
They beat us at Scoring “O”….#16 to #10
Rushing #7 to #2 but we were in the top 2 most of the season…
"Tebowphobe"!!!
thanks!
saw it on your post below as well. after i already posted my response though lol
I'll put mcfadden against foster anytime

Good news about Wiz.
Terrible about Saunders. I’m not even a huge Saunders fan (I wanted him to stay here, but I don’t know too much about his history), but losing a successful coach to a rival is never something I like to see.
If he ends up at KC I’ll be pretty pissed off at Allen and McKenzie. I mean, I’m cool with changing things up that need changing, but change for the sake of change is kind of dumb.
Law Of Diminishing Returns!!!!/_
While I have found some favorable words of encouragement from Gary Kubiac showing that Knapp was actually involved in the Game Planning this season and worked wonders with their 5th rd Rookie “QB” it’s still a huge set back for this “O” in the short term…A completely new “O” including terminology will not go swiftly and is sure to produce slow returns in the short term…
Indications are now that our “OL” will be returning to the “ZBS”…Do our current players even fit that scheme?…This just when that unit had finally become a top 5 rated unit “Consistently”!!!…Now how damn long has it been sense we could even speculate on such quality in a Raiders “OL” and how long will it be before we can again?…This transition is NOT an easy undertaking and will surely cost us in diminished returns in the short term…
"RB"s coach retained which is nice considering the advancements of our core of backs…
Strength-n- Conditioning additions are great…
New “STC” is an unknown to me at this point???
The “D” is expected to be vastly improved even if we lack a single coach as yet….
In the long term will this transition even work…And how far down the road before it starts paying substantial dividends?…At least back to that top 10 “O” that we already had?…Will it ever reach that point or even exceed it?
Houston’s “O” finished at #13 slightly below our #9 with a few injuries relating to our banged up “O” as well…But that’s with their roster and their complete staff…How will ours perform???
Houston’s “OL” was #13 well below our #5…How will that “ZBS” translate to our “OL” now?…How many seasons have their “OL” been in that same blocking scheme?…How long will it now take us to make a similar transition???
Our Passing “O” was #11 to Their #18
Our Rush was #7 to their #2 but we were in the top 2 most of the season…
We were only #16 scoring to their #10…
So comparatively this is evidently what we are trying to achieve while also improving on the “D” side of the ball…
So in conclusion unless our “D” can make some very rapid strides I don’t expect to be posting a winning record early on and suspect we will be playing form behind if we have a shot at the "PO"s at all…This is my short term view of this next season….
I’m not even going to try and project a long term view until I see something actually positive on that turf!!!!
"Tebowphobe"!!!
some good comparisons there
when you put it that way, WTF! why gut our offense and replace it with inferior coaches
I'm not sure where this "#5 offensive line" rank comes from
(seems we were #5 in sack percentage allowed, which is promising)
Football outsiders rated us #14 in RUN BLOCKING which sounds a lot closer to what I saw last season (houston was #4)

"J-Mac" Adds:
Jerry McDonald – Packers CB coach Joe Whitt Jr., of interest to Raiders for DC, did not work with DAllen in Atlanta. Both mentored by Emmitt Thomas, however. 02-02
Jerry McDonald – @code707 Nobody’s been `fired’ except possibly Saunders. Contracts ran out. Doubt Bresnahan is being considered to return in coach capacity 02-02
"Tebowphobe"!!!
I dont think that those who are diluted with disappointment are seeing is the full picture.
I too was extremely disappointed with the pallock addition. The thought of going back to ZBS made me sick, however, the retention of wiz and our RB coach is huge. This group will obviously work together frequently. With wiz and our RB coach having the most knowledge about what works with our team, this should definitely have an effect of what’s on the field.
I’m seeing the potential for a very diverse offense and defense. A hybrid of 3-4, 4-3. Allen made it clear he sees no importance of what style the defense is, just using what ever works best at that time. I’m envisioning the defense flipping back and forth from 3-4 to 4-3 to keep the offense on there toes along with new concepts. Also the addition of a ZBS guru with powerblocking wiz also opens up potential for transitions and new concepts.
Also with knapp, I too was disappointed, but one can’t compare his last time with the nation with what he’s dealing with this time. I actually do think palmer will do well in a west coast offense. I love the idea of him airing it out more often. and most importantly, if knapp could mold Yates so quickly imagine what he’s going to do with pryor, the future of our team.
I'll Agree About Pryor...Knapp Also Woked With Vick Early On...This Bodes Well For Out team...
I like the potential of which you speak and on the “D” it’s not really that difficult ti instill…If you have good teachers and players who can learn…Whatever “SuckChuck” was try to do was NOT getting threw to anyone in our secondary….Except maybe Branch…
But that combination “OL” of “PBS”/“ZBS” may be allot more difficult to manage…Everyone needs to be on the same page and read the “D” the same way…If there’s confusion on any given play the overall blocking will break down…Not sure how that works???
"Tebowphobe"!!!
Great Minds, Dark Hole !!! Great Minds indeed !!!
I was reading & commenting on other post, then jump to this one without reading all the above comments, and I like you think WE will be switching it up, far as styles on both sides of the ball !!!!
How Would You Proceed With The "OL"???...The Cross Eyed Two Left Footed Blocking Scheme!!!/_
It seems that the slightest confusion causes a huge breakdown in the “OL” blocking…Each has to know where the others are and be able to depend upon them doing their job or giving an assist when needed…It’s like a well choreographed dance when working properly but like a grade school class of misfits when it doesn’t…The later is what we have seen most often over the past decade…
This as you know has been one area of my greatest concern…Just when we are a top 5 NFL unit it’s going to get screwed up?…If so how long does it take us to get it back?
So how would you combine both schemes as one???…I’m frankly at a loss as to how that would work…
Do you employ one scheme on certain plays and another scheme on others?…If so it won’t take a “DC” long to figure out your plays based upon alignment and blocking techniques….Anything that gives away your intentions is hazardous…NO
Or do you scheme one side of your “OL” to employ the “PBS” while the other is in a “ZBS”?…Sorta like having your "CB"s play man as your "S"s play Zone?
Or perhaps you power block up the middle while Zoning the outside???
Or power block some opponents while Zoning others?…Change at the half?
I really don’t get it on this one as you can see….
Nice if it works but sounds like a confused mess and likely a disaster!!!
"Tebowphobe"!!!
I was thinking power blocking outside, zone inside, or vise versa. Im not sure how effective this would be, as my knowledge of Oline is relatively limited. However, with the limited knowledge I have I do see it working against 3-4 D’s. Powerblocking our right tackle against the DE shoving outside, the center powerblocks the DT the other dirrection. The RG swings around the center and joins the LG as zone blockers making a hole up the middle. Reece leads mcfadden to a TD. How effective that could be, Im not sure. But I do think there will be a nice combination of both. No it should not be used for specific plays but completely random.
Let me throw this out there, for my Raider brethren !!!!
It appears that we will be using a hybrid defense this year !!!! That’s pretty much a sure bet as it stands right now !!! And from the moves and hires being made, our new offense will have a hybrid look as well, using both zone & power techniques being used !!! Remember you heard it first from me !!! We have not only a more athletic O-line than before when Knapp was here !!! But also much SMARTER lineman now !!!!
I will say this…not really sure what we’ll see in the O, I would of liked to keep Saunders because the O was good, but the D looked so bad that the O looked better, yes we had a lot of bad luck with DMac going down but remember we had a real bad red zone, and we did win a few games just on FG’s when we should be scoring TD’s and the fact you never know what kind of coach we had under Al based on him running things the was “HE” wanted and not what the coaches wanted for the most part, I will say I"m real disappointed in letting our ST coach go…we had a awesome SP group, as for the ZBS I think we’ll be alright because we were running that 2yrs ago and it was working just fine…I know everybody wanted some “BIG” name coaches but we’ll just have to see what happens…by the looks of it I’m sure it’s going to be a lot of Players moving around as well…
Is it just me or does it seem really odd how many times we've been denied the chance to interview
I know teams have that right to deny coaches under contract and that only for an HC position can they not deny that right. It seems like we’ve had quite a few requests for permission denied. I wonder how that makes that particular coach feel when they have a chance at a promotion. It just appears to me like many teams typically give the coach that permission as a courtesy to that coach as it’s a chance at a promotion.
You know what would make a good story? Something about a clown who makes people happy, but inside he's real sad. Also, he has severe diarrhea.
I thought anytime it was an elevation to a higher spot they couldn't cock block you but appently you can....
Al Davis the Greatest Raider of all times... You will live forever in the hearts of true Raider fans...RIP
That's what I thought too but apparently that cannot block you only if it's for a head coaching position
That must really tick some assistants off seeing how their employers can block them from attaining a dream. I understand they are in a contract but contracts are made to be broken in the NFL nowadays.

I thought
If a team wanted to offer an interview for a position that was an upgrade the other team couldn’t block it. The way the managers get around this would be tagging a linebacker coach with an assistant head coach title.
"Committed To Excellence" Mostly just "Committed" though

I think if they block an interview they should have to immediately elevate that coach!
I know if that was my employer I’d be pissed!

Next Up The "Franchise" Tag For Coaches...LoL!!
That “Donkey” Elway was prolley pissed that we took “Dennis The Menace” so wasn’t about to let us get another one…But than again he got Jack Del Rio as compensation!!!
Maybe they should thank us???
"Tebowphobe"!!!
F Elway he's a fraud of a businessman!!!

Yeah, I'd be pretty pissed if my current employer denied me the chance at a promotion.
Seems pretty messed up, really.
Coaches
As of last night the only coaches listed on the Raiders website were Allen and “Take a Knapp”.
what i dont get is how the donkeys refuse to let us interview a cord
cuz we are division rivals yet we grant the chiefs permission to talk to Al Saunders. I dont get it. If your going to let him go dont let him go to a team inside the division
I kinda agree but I think we felt bad for hiring a guy for a job Saunders had

I can't ever remeber the Raiders refusing an interview to another team... I could be wrong
Al Davis the Greatest Raider of all times... You will live forever in the hearts of true Raider fans...RIP
Kinda messed up that the Saints denied Allen their DL coach a interview.
Allen said in the press conference how he would look to Dan Reeves and Sean Peyton if he needed advice. I’m not sure if its the head coach or GM that can deny an interview, but that would be messed up of Sean Peyton to deny a former employ an interview with a current employ with a potential chance to advance his career. Than again in the end its just business. Even if the Colts didnt hire Manusky i dont think the Raiders would have he must have not been very impressive, that had atleast a day to hire him and didnt.
