Jon Gruden gets commitment from ESPN
For those of you who, with each Raider coaching search, have led or joined the outcry of "Bring Chucky back", your hopes just took a hit. ESPN has given Jon Gruden a vote of confidence in the Monday Night Football booth.
The booth has consisted of Gruden, Mike Tirico, and Ron Jaworski for the past few years and now it will be just Gruden and Tirico manning the MNF telecast. Ron Jaworski is the odd man out and will be a part of several other ESPN programs.
"They just feel that a two-man booth was the way to go." Jaworski speculated. "Obviously, I'm the odd man out. I'm the 60-year-old guy and Jon's the young guy that they believe is the future. I'm not going to argue with that."
I think this is a smart move. Gruden and Tirico are fantastic analysts and Jaworski was most certainly the weak link on the team.
I lost count of how many times I had to tell people that Gruden was NOT COMING BACK. He is committed to ESPN and MNF and no amount of hashtag Twitter movements was going to change that.
But when Dennis Allen's time with the Raiders comes to an end, I fully expect the chants to start up again. And who knows, perhaps by that time, however long from now that may be, Gruden will want to get back into coaching. But from the looks of it, he is John Madden 2.0 in every aspect so don't get your hopes up.

If I were the GM; I'd hire Bill Romanowski as our "Defensive Cordinator"
or start him off as our strength and conditioning Coach!!!
Every man for himself...
that dude's an animal, even at his age, he'd outwork most of these kids
and the average human body won’t respond positively like his with the kinds of workouts he did for warmups… but I wouldn’t mind seeing him as part of a staff at all.
And I don’t think his being any kind of defensive coach would do anything for our penalty situation! lol
""The massive Raider Nation is beyond doubt the sleaziest and rudest and most sinister mob of thugs and wackos ever assembled."--Hunter S. Thompson
"In football, I root for the Oakland Raiders because they hire castoffs, outlaws, malcontents, and fuck -ups, they have lots of penalties, fights, and paybacks, and because Al Davis told the rest of the pig NFL owners to go get fucked. Someday, the Raiders will be strong again, and they will dip the ball in shit and shove it down the throats of the wholesome, white, heartland teams that pray together and don't deliver late hits." - George Carlin.
I think there's 5 million reason's why Gruden stays in the booth.
Dose anybody here think the Raiders would offer a HC coach 5 million dollars a year? That’s the equivalent of what Gruden makes a year from ESPN only working 16 weeks a year or so.
