Let me start off here. I'll be honest, I have been in some kind of a funk. I had no idea what to write about in terms of who or what. I was drawing blanks. Felt like I put all my chips on the table with my mock draft that I made earlier in the month I believe. That is until, I had a sweet, crazy idea.
We all know our WRs are SO FAR brittle-ish. I don't know if Jacoby can stay healthy for the whole year as both a WR and kick returner, and I seriously hope Moore doesn't fall into his footsteps. In the previous mock draft I made, I touched upon Jarius Wright, and I believe Joe Adams as both WRs in the 3rd-4th round that look interesting. However, there is a certain 6th round prospect that I would like you to meet by the name of Devon Wylie.
Devon Wylie Highlights Fresno State (via wesndene39)
Wylie is 5'9" 186 lbs. and has been timed with a 4.38 40 time I believe it was last reported. One of the faster WRs there. His quickness? Holy crap it looks SHARP. From what I understand, he is a tough, fun individual who was a very exciting player at fresno state. Does Welker come to mind when looking at Wylie? It dos for me just looking at his quickness and speed (faster speed then welker I might add), but I don't want to make unfair comparisons as of yet. What IS interesting to compare too though, is that Welker WAS an UDFA, and Wylie may be going in the same direction.
Bottom line, Wylie looks to have talent. He gives it his all, and seems to put his heart into his team, and sacrifice every bone in his body for an extra yard. He can also return punts well. My only concern is him actually GETTING broken though. But hell, Welker has pretty much the exact same measurements (Height: 5-9 Weight: 185), so you never no, and I'm not sure if he has any injury history either. Other than a slight injury concern, I think he would be a solid addition to our WR core, and provide a solid, change of pace underneath with his quickness compared to our WRs with solid speed. It would certainly seem like he would make our offense even more dynamic. I love Ford, but unless he can show me he can stay healthy, I only want him on kick returns. And we need to bring in someone to fill in his shoes. Maybe 6th rounder Devon Wylie can be the guy.
What are your thoughts? How does he look to you?
