Will Carson Palmer Restructure Contract to Help Fix Salary Cap Deficiency?

I must admit I have been in quite the uninspired funk the last few weeks when it comes to Raider news. I still have been checking in on the site and reading what I can but nothing has left me with the desire to write until today. Yesterday on ESPN I heard that the Raiders look like they will be requesting a restructuring of Carson Palmer's contract to help us with our serious Salary Cap woes.

After hearing that news yesterday I was curious to what would be posted here today. Instead of something doom and gloom about it, I read Levi's article on Carson "Chomping at the Bit" to get at the new offensive playbook. It leaves me hoping that the two may have already got something in the works to restructure his deal. Palmer wants to win and wants to stay where he is happiest and that is in California. There is only one team in California that will give him the starting job, so if he wants to stay in the state he loves he will restructure his deal to make it happen.

Lets all hope so because we are in such dire straights that if he isn't willing to then Reggie McKenzie might just have to cut ties with the former Heisman Trophy winner. If that would happen it would make the trade that we made for him be considered one of the worst trades in NFL history. It is not in that category if we keep him and he plays for us for a few years but if we end up cutting ties with him so early it definitely belongs on that list.

Reading about how excited he is to get started and him being in touch with so many players was a real pleasure though. I love that he is getting everybody together to work with him already and that he embraces the pressure put on him so well. The guy is a class act and a leader unlike anything we have seen in a decade. He is on a team that is 20+ million over the salary cap and about to be cutting ties with many players, and instead of being down the man is talking about winning championships. I love it!

What do you think Raider Nation?! Will Carson restructure his contract or will the Raiders be forced to prematurely cut ties to save the cash?

Author update: Fellow Blogger KOwens06 says that Carson has already agreed to restructure deal, which would be great news for us.
