Oakland's Offensive Line Gains Some Much Needed Toughness

Mike Brisiel may not be the big splash some fans were looking for in the free agency pool , but don't get it twisted , Brisiel will bring some much needed toughness to Oaklands depleted Offensive line . Brisiel signed a five year , twenty million dollar contract with the Raiders on Friday , but that is a story that has already been told . What may have been lost in the fanfare of Oakland's first free agent signing of the year is the kind of guy were getting , and a peek at the type of team Reggie McKenzie is looking to build.

Mike Brisiel is a tough guy , the likes of which you do not see much in the NFL these days . Brisiel hurt his leg against Oakland Oct. 9 . He continued to play the next eight games with what he described as a " hot spot " in his right leg . His right fibula finally gave way and "cracked" against Cincy but Brisiel kept playing saying " it didn't bother me enough to stop playing " . It took six screws and a surgically implanted plate to put the leg back together. Brisiel later said looking back on it he probably should of been in more pain .He started twenty seven days after surgery and played till his team was knocked out by the Ravens in the first round of the playoffs . If Brisiel and Bartell are any indication of where the Raiders are headed this Oakland team is going to be hard as nails .
