My results in the live sb nation mock draft

As some of you may know, I represented the Raiders in the SB Nation Live Mock Draft. It was..... an interesting experience. I have been evaluating people left and right to see who are the best pickups for the Raiders. Many people slipped in the draft, and I would not find a partner to trade down and get more picks with, so I was stuck using our only two picks in the draft barring comp. pick: the 5th and the 6th.

With the 5th round pick, I selected Demario Davis, 4-3 OLB/3-4 ILB of Arkansas State.

Many of you probably have read my post on S&B Pride that featured Davis. According to CBS Draft, Davis moved up as a 3rd round pick though, and when my turn came up, I figured he was of good value, and fills in a need for us. Tank carder was taken much earlier (some guy's BPA list made Carder taken in the 4th round. lols), so I think Davis was the best available at the moment (I wanted Travis Lewis since he had coverage skills, but that did not happen.... he got picked).

With the 6th round pick, i chose Miles Burris, 4-3 OLB/3-4 OLB/4-3 DE out of San Diego state.

I made a post on Burris at Mocking the Draft, and I wish I found a trade partner to trade down with. The only two other players worth getting were Kelcie McKray(SS/FS), Donnie Fletcher (CB), and Asa Jackson (CB). But I felt that Burris has too much potential to be passed up, and he has good size for himself. And we needed LBs and more of a pass rush, and Burris fit the bill. not to mention that Burris and Davis both are versatile in the 4-3 and 3-4, which help us as well. Seeing as how we already have a plethora of CBs, and we chose two of them last year, I figured getting another one would be overkill. The only thing Miles Burris needs to work on is his pass coverage, but with his speed and quickness, I think he would develop nicely to the likes of Manny Lawson or even better.

When the draft rolls along this April, we will have more picks to use, so we can still grab McKray, or Tyler Nielson, or any other prospect (like Nicolas Jean-Baptiste, a 330+ NT in the 5th). But if we only had those two picks, I think it would be just fine. We NEED more LBs, and we don't have enough guys there who are versatile when we switch base defenses on occasion. So I wanted to get versatile guy. When the actual draft rolls along, We shall get some DTs and such. In the live mock draft, all the good ones were pretty much taken by my 5th rounder (wish Billy Winn slipped to me. WOuld have been awesome).

Take a chance and read my posts on them above that I linked to. Hopefully I did the nation proud. :)
