Oakland Raiders sign draft pick Miles Burris

The Oakland Raiders have signed fourth-round draft pick Miles Burris, the team announced Friday. The linebacker is the fourth member of the club's 2012 draft class to have agreed to terms, joining DE Jack Crawford, DT Christo Bilukidi and LB Nathan Stupar.

Burris (6-2, 236), was the Raiders' fourth-round choice (129th overall) in this year's draft after being named a two-time All-Mountain West Conference first-team selection at San Diego State. He led the Aztecs in tackles as a senior, posting 78 stops, including 46 solo tackles, and 19.5 tackles for loss. Burris added eight sacks and three fumble recoveries as a senior.

The Granite Bay, Calif., native led the Mountain West Conference with 9.5 sacks as a junior, which ranked as the seventh-highest single-season total in program history. He also led the team with 80 tackles and was named the 2010 San Diego State Student-Athlete of the Year.

Burris has been working at weak side linebacker in OTA's. With the injury to Aaron Curry, Burris has been getting work with the first team and he has received praise from coach Dennis Allen for his work thus far. He is expected to be a solid contributor at outside linebacker as well as do some work at inside linebacker in 3-4 alignments. In addition, he will contribute on special teams.
