Raider legendary owner, Al Davis, would be turning 83 on Wednesday, July 4. And though he passed on last season, the celebration of his birthday continues. In fact, it kicks up a notch as his son, and current team owner, Mark Davis, has organized a get together in Las Vegas to honor his father in his Birthday this week.
In attendance will be several of Al's close friends and family. Many of his friends consisting of Raider Legends and current and former long time front office personnel.
According to Len Pasquarelli of Yahoo! Sports, it will be a quiet gathering to memorialize Al Davis and celebrate his life in such a way that the team was unable to do when he passed away midway through the 2011 season. And with the business of football in its slowest time combined with his birthday, it is the perfect time to take a break from football and honor a man who meant so much to the game of football and everything to the Oakland Raiders.
