!...Bleacher report has a great article/slide show entitled "Top 50 Raiders of all Time" and its a good rush to see the players who gave the franchise it's face, reputation and probably the best moments in pro football in the 'Sea of Hands' catch, 'the Holy Roller'Stabler-to-Banaszak-to-Casper to crush the Dolts...and some great video highlights in the slide show of Ray Guy, the only punter to be taken in the 1st round (8 probowls, 3 SB wins, 5 second hangtimes)Bo Jackson crushing Bosworth, Marcus Allen's runs, Cliff Branch and his 'Speed Kills' signs, Todd Christensen and the Ghost, Snake and his on field coolness, Plunkett and how he helped us trash the NFC in two SB's...great photos and videos, and made my morning to see it in my inbox.
There were also some bittersweet pics of those Raiders who have passed; Big Ben (the original) Otis Sistrunk, George Blanda, Clarence Davis, Jack Tatum, the Tooz...and the real anchor of the Raiders, Dave Dalby who led the O-line for 14 years and was in all 3 SB victories yet is never mentioned for HOF induction...(it's fucking criminal!)
This is a great article to start a day off, reflect on seasons past and remember those players who made the Raiders what they are. It's for the old dogs like myself who remember those days, attended some of those games and for the younger guys to see some of those players in action. I was lucky enough when living in Hawaii to have met Willie Brown on two separate occasions during Pro-Bowl week when he had a booth at the Navy Xchange at Pearl Harbor with Raiders gear and autographed pics for sale, and even though I was already into my early 50's how exciting it was to meet him...like being back in the 70's again! Enjoy.
