On the decision to change to zone-blocking scheme: “I believe it is a matter of time for it to get going. Part of the decision was I’ve seen this system of offense work and be very successful. I believe in this. As a defensive coach, I spent a lot of time defending different offenses and I think this is one of the more difficult offenses to have to defend. Obviously, we have to execute it better because we’re not getting the results in the running game that we’re looking for.”
i for one dont understand the need for changing the scheme in the 1st place. Allen says its one of the toughest schemes to defend(our opponents dont agree) thats its a matter of time for it to get going(how long will that take? is this year used as a tryout?)
Look, i know this is supposed to be the start of rebuilding for our organization, but we went from a top 10 scoring team, to being ranked 31st in scoring. Our best player, had about 200 or more yards rushing last year after 2 games, this year, a lil over 60. It seems that not only has our offense gone in reverse, but then our D gets burned by the fish with a rookie qb who looked horrible in his 1st game and a rb who didnt look great in his 1st game either.
Ive been a die hard for 35+ years, got the shield tatted on me, my wife and 3 boys are fans too! Ive gone to at least 6 games a year, even when they were in LA. but ive never felt this down about them in my life until now.
Is it still early in the season? yes. but have i see anything special to make me think things will change soon? as of right now, no and thats what concerns me the most.
The zbs scheme didnt work before, and obviously the pbs did. But as soon as i heard knapp was coming back, i damn near got sick to my stomach. He's never been a good fit with us. I'm just hoping this was a rookie HC mistake by Allen realizes this before he loses the locker room......
