What a classic Raider-Steeler game in a Palmer-Rothlisberger shoot-out! Had me on the edge of my seat all game long. With all of the problems the offense was having with the zone I never thought they were going to release the kraken offense that I thought was going to stay in hibernation until the zone and new schemes could be packed down. Palmer had an interception because Moore fell down; otherwise, he had a perfect game for all practical purposes. He did not look like Lamonica as the Mad Bomber, he reminded me more of Stabler with all those short and intermediate range passes he was completing with remarkable accuracy. So many of our receivers were in the action and this is what I always had in mind regarding our passing potential with Palmer at the helm. Statuesque? Hardly, Palmer did some pretty nice roll-outs too. And what about Moore? Man, that guy has some super-soft hands! He's for real. Moore came into the game like he was never out. I never expected this and was expecting a blow-out - what a pleasant surprise. Yeah, the secondary had some problems containing Ben and we need to continue to do some work on that, in addition to Ben having all day to throw the ball. We have to do a better job of containing the qb. Anyway, I am not going to be bothered where improvements are needed and I am going to relish this win as I was pretty starved for one. And lets not forget: Only 3 penalties for 25 yards! That's three games that provides reasonable evidence that the Raiders have become disciplined regarding penalties; in fact, it was the Steelers who were consistently penalized! What a refreshing turn around. The Steeler offense was a tough test for our defense and it is no surprise that Ben could exploit some of it but I think we will fare better against other teams. We controlled the run remarkably well even if they didn't have Mendenhall. Bring on the Broncos! Let's all say a prayer for DHB, he had a very good game too.
