After watching the horrible calls being made across the league today I am now extremely concerned about the players safety and the general dignity of the game itself. Today as everyone know Darrius Heyward-Bey was the victim of a blatant and vicious Helmet to Helmet hit from Steelers Safety Ryan Mundy that resulted in DHB heading to the hospital with a reported neck injury.

When watching this video the first few times I was sickened by the hit DHB took to really look at what was going on around the field at that moment. Especially on what the refs where looking at when DHB went down on that play. If you start the video at 48 seconds watch the referee wearing number 128 standing in the foreground. When the pass is in the air the ref was watching something off to the left as the pass shot across the field, Right in front of him. He continued to NOT watch the ball as DHB went up for the pass and took a helmet to the chin. It wasn't until DHB and Mundy went to the ground that he looked over toward the players, The ball or anything else he should of been focused on. That was an easy foul to call and I think DB's around the league are going to continue to take those shots knowing they might not get called. The NFL has to get something do NOW. You can't say that the NFL's main priority is player safety when you are willing to use a bunch of bullshit under qualified referee's that couldn't keep up with the game speed of an FCS College game.
