Streater Injured in Friday Practice; Status Now in Question for Sunday

Bad news coming out of the Oakland Raiders practice facilities first reported by Steve Corkran. Rod Streater has sustained a neck injury in practice and his status is now in question for this Sunday vs the Denver Broncos.

Wide receiver Rod Streater tweaked his neck in practice today. He is questionable for Sunday's game.

This is especially debilitating considering the current injuries to the Raiders WR core. It appears that Juron Criner may end up being more of a factor in this game than anybody had thought, although even he is still recovering from an ankle injury. Criner was not on the Thursday injury report so he is likely to play.

If Streater is unable to go there is little doubt in my mind that the Raiders will have to activate recently signed Tori Gurley from the practice squad or play with just 3 healthy wide receivers. He has not been in Oakland for very long considering that he was just signed last week so it is going to be sink or swim for the young Gurley if he is forced into action. This injury to Streater leaves Denarius Moore and Derek Hagen as the only full strength receivers on the Raiders roster.

The good news is in my opinion Raider Nation will be pleasantly surprised by Gurley who had been part of the Green Bay Packers training camp before signing with the Vikings who subsequently released him. Tori is a big body with good hands that is capable of playing in the NFL. I honestly thought that he was going to make the Packers active roster after a good training camp with them but it was not meant to be. Hopefully my opinion is proven right if he is thrown to the sharks this Sunday in Denver.
