Yes, this will be a small order but a start in determining the future of our beloved
Raiders. We are all aware of the past horrible season mainly due to moronic azz DA hiring a OC that was Bizarro to the Raiders offensive players which should have had his head rolling but I digress... for now. Instead I will name 5 players that IMO should have played their final game vs SD or much earlier due to their injury history. Here goes.
1.
Richard Seymour- Al blew it 4 yrs ago on this guy, trading a ..... 2011 1st rd pick for an ageing, washed up DT that did absolutely nothing here but biatch slap Big Ben and bodyslam his former QB
Tom Brady. Ok.. he had a couple of good games but nothing to warrant the trade for him. In fact a trade like this should never happen unless you are that one player away from a possible SB and it was obvious well before this transaction took place that this wasn't going to be possible. Now we are stuck with a waste of a DT that can't stay healthy or make plays.Oh, his contract voided so he is now a URFA and if Reggie has any GM skills, Raider Nation will Sey-less of Richard soon.
2.
Matt Giordano- I find it hard to even fathom this guy's name even came up but yes it has, mainly because for most of the season this guy was our STARTING FS!! WTF? In know most wonder how in the hell was that possible and believe you me I was one of them. The reason is IMO is that Gio, as I call him is one of Allen's FAVS. We are all aware of that word for we saw that in Al Davis hanging on to players he was fond of and either starting them or had them rotting on the roster for no reason at all for their talent wasn't going to ever lift them off the sidelines. Not the case with Gio for Allen lived his dream of playing FS in the NFL through this guy, the results being more horrid than positive amid several poses Gio made once he was ran over or blew an assignment. If he was a ST only I may consider him as roster fodder but with Allen here he will play him over much better players to handcuff the team which is why he has to go. Make it happen Reggie.
3. Brandon Myers- Yeah, I know, why would you want to get rid of our best player offensively? Yes, he had a very good season but I believe Myers will wnat more $$ than the Raiders need to be doling out and most importantly, we have a weapon in
Marcel Reece. the Raiders simply move the BEAST to TE and along with Ausberry can form a duo just as formidable as the two in SF. Myers isn't a dynamic TE, can't make a play after the catch and is a God awful blocker while Reece and David are terrors after the catch. Thanks but no thanks Brandon.
4.DHB- Yeah,I know this is a guy the Nation is very fond of due to his work ethic, which I won't deny, however work ethic is nothing if production isn't matched and that is what is telling about Bey. We know the history and although he did have one productive season, teams caught on to the one thing he could do, catch short passes you and I throw to our 4 yr old nieces and nephews or whoever in that age group. I know some will not like it but with a salary of over 10.6 ML and the Raiders saving 7.7ML by releasing him Reggie will release him for he is no more than a 4th wr and since he is incapable of playing ST's as well as wr, he will be missed by some, until they see Streater, Moore and our new core of wr's make a catch with their hands rather than their gut as Bey routinely does if he catches it at all. A likeable guy but I'd defiinitely like any other wr in the 2009 draft than this bust.
5.Khalif Barnes- Last but certainly not least, although I could be wrong, we have Khalif "False/No Start" Barnes. How this guy was signed and Satele and Barksdale let go is beyond me, the Red Blob missed on these decisions big time. I'm sure that there was a better OT than Barnes on the market, UFL, Arena League, Pop Warner, some damn where for this guy is as inept as Tim Conway. I guess his locker room jokes are that good to keep him around, then he need to just do standup comedy for he does a great job of that once the takes the right OT position. The play vs Cincy was C'mon Man of the yr IMO in which Barnes was in suspended animation on a passing play in which he was the only player in his stance while Carson was being terrorized by the
Bengals DL. LoL, just thinking about that play brings a chuckle, I'm sure that's not the case with the front office however. Reggie now needs to allow Barnes to false start on out the door.
These moves alone will not only make the Raiders better in addition by subtaction, but ease the salary cap in order to sign draft FA's that can better the team. Just Win BAby!!
